I have no explanation for the 1-star reviews,Day or Night have been my go-to plumbers for many years.
They replumbed the water lines due to many pin holes in the copper, replaced my 25-year old water heater, and snaked a drain line. Each time they were on time, sent pleasant, professional techs and fixed the issue with no call backs.
Obviously my experience has been very different from the previous reviewers.
I purchased a Saber grille from Day or Night. I was told they had the item ""in stock"" but when it arrived, it was clearly the floor model (sales sticker was on the grille, same as in the showroom). It had multiple scratches on it! When I called them on the issue, they said that I could order a new grille but I would have to pay for shipping and I couldnt use the grille that was delivered, or get half off a rotisserie! I have a a feeling that they are not going to sell this grille any longer so they got rid of the last one they had! They told me is was their best seller, so why wouldn't they have more on order from the manufacturer! Fortunately, Saber is standing by their product, and sending out new stainless parts to replace the scratched parts. But we have to reassemble the grille. Unbelievable, I dont know how they sleep at night- Karma is a !@#$%
Poorest service I have ever experienced from any service provider. They miss appointments, and leave voice messages in lieu of using phone numbers provided by the customer to avoid real time contact with the customer when they announce their inability to keep the scheduled appointment. Technician orders for parts get buried on the desks of administrative staff, and then they blame parts suppliers for delays in getting parts on hand to complete a job. They schedule their technicians to be in two places at the same time, and then treat their customer with an indifferent attitude when contacted. It is very unfortunate that the administrative staff who handle scheduling are not focused on customers and customer driven quality as are the technicians. They have experienced high technician turnover, probably because they treat their techs equally as bad as their customers. Run, do not walk away from this company.
Bobbi B.I find it odd that Day or Night Plumbing has multiple listings on Yelp. I'll add my review to this one, since it's the only listing that has a review posted.
I called them because we had what appeared to be a water line break on our property -- water was gushing up from a point on our lawn, flowing down the lawn and over the curb, and burbling merrily down the street. An emergency situation if I ever saw one.
I called them only because I had a ""VIP Customer Card"" with their phone number on it (1800-661-3587) left over from the one and only time we used their services, during which they totally conned us into purchasing a new, possibly unnecessary, and very overpriced water heater (as we found out later).
But when water is gushing out of your lawn, which is rapidly turning into a swamp, and your ""20% off"" VIP card says they handle leaks and water lines, you tend to grasp at straws.
First of all, ""day or night"" my @ss. The unfriendly woman on the phone immediately advised me that while they could send someone out for an estimate, it would not be a service call. She then told me they wouldn't be able to get anyone out until the following day. For the estimate, mind you, not to actually take care of the problem. Um, excuse me -- I have water gushing out of my lawn and I have no idea what to do or what's causing it. This is not something that can wait until the following day, obviously. I asked her if I should just call the water utility instead as that wouldn't cost me anything and she snapped, ""I SAID our estimate is FREE.""
Receptionist lady and I ended our little chat and I called WSSC, which is what I should have done in the first place. They arrived like water ninjas in 30 minutes, identified the problem within seconds (a broken water meter), and replaced it quickly and efficiently. They were friendly and polite and awesome.
Yes, I realize that the problem was ultimately the responsibility of WSSC since it was their water meter that busted. But I'd hazard a guess that Day or Night Plumbing has experienced these types of emergency calls in the past and they probably know the best course of action is to get the water utility out first to investigate and determine if the problem is public or private. Have to wonder why that wasn't suggested to me.

My Day or Night Plumbing ""VIP Customer Card"" is now in the trash.
L J.The reviewer above might have been lucky when Day or NIght didn't show up. This company worked on gas water heater in a rental property I own. After someone else reviewed the work, I found not only was the repair unnecessary, they did work on the gas lines that wasn't to code and endangered my tenants.
We recently chose this company over many others to install a gas fireplace in our house. In the beginning they were very nice (it might have been the $7000 we were giving them), and seemed competant, but as soon as they came out to do the work, that's when things fell apart. The day after the work was completed we had a huge leak in our roof (which we only found out about because of the downpour that day) We called them and left several emergency messages, but never received any calls back. We were leaving the country so we left it in our contractors hands. When we returned we learned that the contractor had to fix it himself because they didn't show up until the following day. Since then (2 months ago) I have been trying to get reimbursed for the $227 it cost me to fix it. Not one phone call or email was returned. When I finally got Elizabeth (the owner) on the phone, she was incredibly nasty, yelling and blaming me for the problem. I have never been treated that way by a ""service professional"" in my life.
The work they did was shotty, with no instruction on how to work our system, and they were the most expensive! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Michal G.Don't use if you aren't a vegetable stuck at home. They will stand you up, and on being rescheduled, they will stand you up again. Very unprofessional. Wasted almost 1/2 a day waiting on the two occassions they were scheduled to fix the toilet. Beware!!!
