David Gray founded the business in 1983 from the back of a Plymouth Duster (the Duster was a car, not a utility vehicle). Incoming phone calls initially were answered by furniture salesmen at his in-law's furniture store. The business developed to the point where an office with a crew was required.

The firm is authentically a family-owned business. At some point, David's wife, father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, child, daughter(s), and relatives have all worked to the company. David's son and sibling-in-law are now involved in running the firm with him and are joint owners.

The company has expanded from that initial vehicle to over thirty-five service crews and over 70 team members. David Gray founded David Gray Plumbing, Inc. in 1980. The firm has been offering superior service and maintenance in Jacksonville, FL continuously. The firm employs the top water experts and qualified HVAC professionals in Jacksonville.

Just had my semi-annual AC preventative maintenance check by Tom. Second time Tom has completed this service for me and again he was excellent!! Very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. In addition to my annual AC check, I have always used David Gray for any plumbing issues. I have always found their service and work to be excellent!

I would not recommend them to anybody. I had them come out and do an estimate around 15 December to replace my hot water heater and fix the faucet on 28 December. After taking the day off, they waited till about 9 o'clock that morning to tell me they weren't coming. As I'm walking out the door I get a phone call from my parents who they contacted to tell they were on the way. Nice guys they came to do electrical work to be set up for the new hot water heater. Weeks go by before I hear back from their employee about when my stuff will be completed. I finally schedule them explaining clearly I need to leave at 2 o'clock. The plumbers were nice guys how are they told me the electrical was wrong and they didn't know when the electricians were coming. After being on hold continuously a multiple phone calls I find out this job obviously was not planned properly. They actually suggested I leave my house completely open for them to come and go as they want at their convenience to finish the job. Maybe they haven't noticed the crime rate in Jacksonville. Electric version showed up 15 minutes after I was supposed to leave and yet they still aren't done over an hour later and I missing out on eight hours of work. Since I've completely missed two days of work you would think that they would be at least polite or deduct some of the issues that they cause but of course not electricians are rude. If they one has a decent electrician and plumbing reviews I would love to have them because I have more work that needs to be done but I wouldn't let David Gray touch it if they were doing it for free. Less than a month later, and the hot water heater doesn't work. Their answering service asked if I wanted to pay for after hours service no I wanted a hot shower. It's been less than two years and the hot water heater cut off. Service was day of, and the guy told me he has to replace them all the time....then why sell them?

I am a supervisor at an apartment community and I called David gray for a main line back up in one of my buildings that they was out on 5 days ago and it is backed up AGAIN. I called at 10 pm and at 11 pm still no call back. I called again at 11 pm and then I got a call back within 5 min. I explained to him what was going on with that building and I could tell he did not want to come back out but he said well I will come out but it's going to be around 1 am before I can be there? I then told him, well ok we have to do what we have to do so that will be fine. At 6 am the next morning I am getting calls from the same building telling me that he NEVER showed up and the back up is getting really bad now. I called the company back at 6 am and started to explain what was going on when the lady said, I'm going to stop you right there cause I am just the answering service so you need to talk to them and please don't yell at me?? I was NOT yelling but I was upset I will admit that. You will tend to get upset when you have a whole building calling and yelling because they are trying to shower for work and school and bathrooms are flooding everywhere.Well an hour goes by now and NO call back. I am still waiting for the call back and yes this is happening right now as I write this. I have been in apartment management for 35 years now and this is the worst service I have ever had from a plumbing co.

Too expensive I 'phoned DAVID GRAY to request them to install two owner furnished bathroom faucets, and to fix leak at base of one commode. After installing the faucets the technician presented me with an invoice for $323.95. He had not worked on the commode - saying the company would need to send another technician to take care of that because their employees are specialist and he does not have necessary equipment to fix the commode. I protested being charged such an exorbitant amount! He told me I would need to 'phone his supervisor, KEN, which I did. Ken reduced the bill by $50.00. I told them I would get a different plumber to fix the commode because I did not want to get another exorbitant invoice and would not be using them any more.

It is unfortunate when you must guide a contractor and advise how a repair is to be completed. The same repairman returned to our home to attempt the two jobs originally paid for. This experience references a new kitchen sink and a new bathroom sink and two visits that did not see the jobs completed satisfactorily. The kitchen sink required new drainage piping that initially the repairman advised the cabinetry would have to be cut to access the full extent of the piping to complete the installation of the new sink. I advised the repairman how to avoid this damage to the cabinet that he advised he would not be responsible to repair. My suggestions were successful, and the repair job was competed to 95%. He failed to add the spray hose weight. He completed this repair to our satisfaction during his return visit. The bathroom sink has been attempted twice by the same repairman with a colleague on the second visit and is STILL not complete. The bathroom was renovated with a new countertop, faucet and vessel sink. Initially, the repairman was uncertain how to install the new faucet, claiming the shipping container did not contain the necessary parts for the new faucet. The additional parts to complete the installation were supplied as he was unaware how to finish the job. The vessel sink installation remains unsatisfactory and the same person will not be requested to our home again. The sink was not sealed to the countertop and spun freely loosening the drainage piping. The incomplete seal of the sink was addressed. Within minutes, I was retrieved to review their work. I was presented with a sloppy application of a silicone adhesive beneath the vessel sink to the new countertop. They were advised to redo the application and inquired if they removed the sink as required to apply the silicone properly. Upon a second review, there was a 4-inch bead of silicone extending from the sink bottom out onto the countertop, the back side was not sealed, and the right side of the translucent sink was sealed with a black substance. These two repairmen considered this job completed. No customer should have to advise any professional repairman how to do a job. No customer should have to call a reputable company to complete a job 3 times. No customer should have to pay any company for a return visit to complete a job that wasn't completed correctly the first time. I was advised that these repairman's supervisor was being called to inquire of our cost for the return visit. Fortunately, the supervisor was not as abrasive as his employees and did not charge for the second visit of which we would not have paid for. This job remains incomplete, there remains a sloppy silicone application beneath this sink. The sink will have to be removed from the new countertop, the silicone removed, and the sink resealed properly as it should have been done the first time. We will not recall David Gray to attempt to complete this job for the third time, nor will we be threatened to have to pay again for a job not done right originally. If it were not for the repeat back surgeries I have suffered, I would do the job myself. One last comment, there was a great reluctance to address this second call from the three times I attempted to call in the request and to the apprehension of the original repairman's attitude when he returned to our home. The only reason we believe this return visit was completed was because I addressed the original visit with an electrical supervisor (as a plumbing supervisor refused to return my call) and advised that numerous electrical jobs needed completed. Following an electrical job assessment, the plumbing work was rescheduled. Unfortunately for David Gray, due to the poor plumbing workmanship, the electrical work was not completed by David Gray electric. Fortunately for us, the electrical work was completed by another company for $400 less than David Gray's quote and additional electric work David Gray said they would not do was done with professionalism and the first time by American Electrical.

Avoid them there are other plumbers. They will nickel and dime you to inflate the bill. They do not respond to voicemails or emails if you have an inquiry. Also plumber was rude.

We called to get an estimate on having a broken line replaced in our office. They came out and gave us an estimate. Two weeks later we get an invoice for $100.00. I called and was told """"we have to listen to the phone recording"""". I had to call back since no one got back to me. Needless to say we were given a credit. Not happy. Will not use David Gray Plumbing. When calling make sure you let them know you need an estimate or you will be charged for a service call.

I manage multiple rental properties and have used David Gray plumbing in the past for another home. This morning when my tenant called me about a water leak naturally I called David Gray plumbing because they've done well in the past. Unfortunately the technician that came out today was a complete jerk. Incredibly rude to both myself and my tenant. The water leak took about 20 minutes to repair and he charged me $300 labor. I know plumbing's expensive, but this is ridiculous and then some! I almost wouldn't even mind paying the money if the technician had been polite. But to fork over that kind of money for a prick just really tanned my hide! I will not be using David Gray plumbing again. Yes, the technician did fix the problem, but acted very put out for a man who made $300 in 20 minutes.

About two years ago we detected water accumulating outside of our shower. Called David Gray and they sent out Buddy. Buddy put tape over the drain, ran the shower and when he saw water accumulating determined we had a pan leak. Because the shower has glass block, he indicated that it would require extensive reconstruction so he would refer it to someone else at Gray. I waited four days and didn't hear so I called. Although the """"paper work"""" hadn't come through, they referred me to a tile """"expert"""". He came and determined it wasn't a pan leak, but the glass blocks were leaking. He caulked them, charged me but the leak continued. I figured out that the leak must be coming from inside the wall. I bought a $6. shower arm to replace the defective one and the problem was solved. I contacted David Gray and was told they """"would look at the invoice"""" I never heard back.

I used David Gray Plumbing 30 years ago for a repipe and they did a great job then, so when it was time for another repipe I hoped for the same results. Wow, I wasn't disappointed! From the moment Mark Evans quoted the job to the quality and cleanliness of the plumbers to the sub contractor they use for sheetrock repair, the work was 1st class. They weren't the cheapest, but to hand over he whole project to one company saved me time and hassle that paid for itself. I would highly recommend David Gray Plumbing.
