David Gray founded the firm in 1983 out of the back of a Plymouth Duster sedan (the Duster was a car, not a van). First phone calls initially were received by sales staff at his in-law's furniture store. The firm grew to the point where an office with a team was required.

The business is genuinely a family-run operation. At different points, David's spouse, father, father-in-law, sibling-in-law, child, children, and nieces have all been employed to the firm. David's son and sibling-in-law are presently involved in operating the company with him and are joint owners.

The firm has expanded from that small car to over thirty-five service crews and over 70 employees. David Gray founded David Gray Plumbing, Inc. in 1980. We started using the heating & AC group because we had used the plumbing group for years & had great service. In 2015 we had them replace our complete AC unit. Early this year during our routine preventative maintenance the technician found a weld in the unit had failed causing the coolant to leak. They sent another technician out to repair at a cost of over $900. They would not warrant their weld which based on our conversations with others should not have failed. Then 3 months later we had an issue where the unit wasn't draining properly. Their technician stated we needed another part installed at a cost of over $1000. I had another company come out & they corrected the issue which was a clogged drain. They fixed the issue in less than 1 hour I talked to David Gray's office manager about these issues & she indicated she would research & get back to me. Never heard back from her so I sent an email to their general manager & never heard back from him. Horrible service!

Gave David Gray Plumbing two shots to do a decent job. First repair on shower pipe leak had to be redone and pay to replace drywall twice. Then the sink leak wasn't repaired properly and continued to leak causing so much damage to the drywall and cabinet that it is now an insurance issue. Almost 900 dollars worth of work totally not worth it.

Horrible customer service. I was charged for them to come out and take apart a fan they put in 2 weeks prior and then have to rebuild because it wasn't done right the first time. Next, they put in an exhaust fan in my bathroom (didn't have an existing one) and I told both the person making my reservation and the tech who called to be sure to bring ducting since we don't have an existing fan. Instead, the guy cut a hole in the ceiling and just pushed in the fan we bought. No ducting, just sending the moisture to our attic which will only cause more mold issues! To top it off, they took all the loose insulation and just dumped it into one of my outside garbage cans - no bag - and it went everywhere. I have called 3 times, left 2 messages and no one is returning my calls. Going to have to hire another company to properly vent the exhaust fan as it should have been done in the first place. Very upset they did such a crappy job. Never using them again.

Used them to see what problem was w/disposal. Tech troubleshooted & ID'd issue w/switch. However didn't secure electrical wires connected to disposal properly, which was ID'd by the Electrician I had to call 5wks later to fix Grays Tech's mess. ($125) I had to pay to find this out! Hire another company not this one, they don't pay attention to detail & will cost you more in the end, to fix what they screwed up!!! Top8

*****UPDATE****** Shortly after this happened, i received a call from the office manager letting me know they were aware of the issue and we taking steps to correct. I then received a second call from a gentleman who explained their process for repairs such as mine. He even allowed me a moment to vent. In the end, David Gray refunded some of the money that I paid so that the cost of the repair wound up being the amount I was expecting (a little better even). This has been 100% resolved and I give this company high marks for making it right in the end. I have used this company in the past (electric AND plumbing) with nothing but good things to say. This time was another story. I was notified by JEA that a 'jaw' in my meter needed to be replaced (with a 10 day window or my power would be cut off). I called many people to get quotes/information and was told this was common and not a major ordeal. Most electricians quoted a flat rate which was inclusive of permitting. I was partial to David Gray already and their hourly rate was a little better (and included permitting) than the flat rate, assuming that the repair went as expected. David Gray took OVER 3 hours and didn't just replace the part required by JEA.... they replaced THE ENTIRE housing. The charges were more than DOUBLE every other quote. When I asked why they weren't just replacing the single jaw required by JEA I was told that it would have been harder for them to retrofit it than it was to replace the entire housing. On top of that, the electrician attempted to ADD ANOTHER $150 for permitting. I never agreed to fix the entire thing and the necessity of it was never justified. I regret using this company and will never do business with them again.

They do a reasonably good job but their customer service staff are more often than not, rude and condescending. For a service business, that is a huge problem for me. In addition, they are beyond expensive and they nickel and dime you every chance they get. We had a weekend job done on a rental property and while they fixed the issue temporarily, it came back a week later and they then wanted another $108 service call & $28 every 15 min. No thanks. Onto someone else.

I called for two separate issues. One was a clogged tub. the other was for low water pressure and a sewage smell in the shower. The customer service representative told me that if i made both appointments at one time I would receive a discount for the second call at $88. The day of the appointment they forgot to set the appointment. I had to call. One plumber came last minute and unclogged the tub made a hole in the ceiling to check the pipe and never resealed the hole. I still have a smell and a hole in my ceiling. I was charged 108 minus the 10 dollar coupon for a total of 98 dollars. The second plumber came the next day to change the cartridge for the low water pressure in my bathtub. The cartridge cost $96 dollars but the plumber said he was not aware of the $88 discount for the service call. He said someone from the office would call. I never received a call within the week so i called. The billing office charged me 165 for the service call that was done within 45 minutes and $96 dollars for the cartridge. $359 dollar total. What happened to the $88 dollar discount. Dishonesty is not a good policy. I will never use David Gray Plumbers. The billing people ignored me when asked for an explanation and did not care when i told them i would not use their services again.

David Gray plumbing did an excellent job. Zach was on time , and extremely efficient, which is important because you are charged by the 1/4 hour, after the first hour which has a flat fee. Zach was done in 1/2 hour. Everything works perfectly. Rates less than several others that I called. He installed a new kitchen faucet which we had purchased. I would definitely use them again and request Zach!!
