Dave was able to resolve my problem quickly and the job came in at the price quoted. My problem was a gas leak at the water heater in one of the connector lines. This is the second time I have used him and, as last time, I found him to be friendly and efficient. He works quickly but takes the time to explain how things work and freely gives advice about things I can take care of myself for minor maintenance issues later on. Nice guy who knows his stuff.

Well, David certainly is a crusty character and he is expensive, about he same as say a Mike Diamond. Old school small single proprietor business. He clearly prices the job according perceived ability to pay but he also does not even attempt hide that either, openly commenting on the expensiveness of a new car in our driveway. He does have a reputation in the east valley of giving a working man a break if you take time to play the game and negotiate price aggressively enough. He does not give you anything in writing at the start of a job and charges for estimates, that is something he really does need to work on. To his credit he did get out to our house very quickly after we called and had a difficult job done properly in a few hours, cutting off and retreading two galvanized steel pipes in a tight space under a small bathroom sink cabinet w/o knocking any holes in the wall. $900 with the new faucet. He did try to up-sell us on several related projects, all of which really did need doing in a perfect world but we were not in a position to do so. His trucks are quite impressive, unusually large and well stocked as far as plumbers go, not the usual minivan with multiple runs out to the supply store.

DAVE BISCHOF IS A THIEF. We called him to replace a piece of pipe to bring our house up to code. He said the pipe broke and he had to replace it with a 12 foot piece. He charged us $3,200.00, and said he put in 12 feet of copper piping. He left a hole leading into the raised foundation. We had the house professionally inspected and found out that indeed he replaced 3 feet of pipe with copper piping, and left the rest of the original piping as it was. The inspector said the job should have cost $1,000. When we brought up the discrepancy with Bischof, he was rude and indignant. He already had our money and there was no reason to be professional or cordial. We figured lesson learned. DO NOT TRUST HIM TO DO THE JOB HE SAYS HE WILL DO. That was in 2002. I found out recently he is still doing the same thing 15 years later (grossly overcharging for work, and being extremely rude.) DO NOT TRUST THIS THIEF! He should not be licensed!

Something is up with this guy. I strongly suspect he is intent on taking advantage of unsuspecting people. He made many claims about what might be wrong none of which are true. He actually did not touch the plumbing item at issue, but professed many things needed to be done. It seemed he wanted to embark on a $1,500-$3,000 repair for what was a $195 fix, or a simple fix (somebody else fixed the issue and more for $195). He refused to write anything up so I would have proof of his scheme. He talks very fast, wants a lot of things signed. He had no regard for trying to help solve a small problem, and potentially help somebody. The CLB says he is licensed, but the behavior was more like a con-artist than a licensed plumber. The Contractor's license board does mention he violated literally every code pertaining to his license in 2011 on one particular job,

omg!!! i wish i checked his yelp reviews before calling him!!!

i called him to fix my tub and sink in my bathroom on a monday morning. he answered very cordially and said he will be there by 3pm which was good. he called and showed up on time but as soon as he got there my daughter showed him the wrong bathroom to fix. as soon as she called me which was like 5 min and realized that it was the wrong bathroom i apologized to him but he said there will be still be a charge of $165.00 cause he worked on the tub in the wrong bathroom!!!

i still did not complain i thought its my daughters fault.

at this point i am home now

then he went into my bathroom and said that he fixed both the tub and the sink and that they should work just ""perfect"". charged me $555.00 and had me sign the worksheet and left......

after he left my bathroom was a complete mess on the floors, in the tub and in the sink!

at 10pm i went in to shower and noticed that my tub was worse then before!!!! nothing had been done at all!

i called him this morning at 7 and told him that its worse.....his answer to me was ""thats the best he could do""

i said ""but you said it was workinig?""

i told him i will call my bank and dispute the charges because he is ripping me off! i also told him that i will write a review for him.....

his answer to me was ""have a good day"" and hung up the phone on me!

really?

i called my bank put in a dispute and yes now i am writing this review.

he cannot be ripping off people like this!!!!

what kind of a business are you runniing?????

I had Main sewer out to the street that had a huge issue with roots. I went on the city of LA for sewer contractors and found Dave,i was utterly impressed on the super knowledge that this owner operator had.

He contacted the city, pulled the public works permit and had my sewer up and running.

Very happy

Charged me almost $400 to put in a gas shutoff and a water shutoff for my dryer and refrigerator, respectively. Spent almost the entire visit trying to convince me I needed expensive work on my pipes, sink, and water heater.

Spent 10 minutes rattling off his city and state council credentials. Failed to find a clog in my washer line that occluded flow by almost 90%, which even I could find just by running the hoses for five seconds.

Another plumber charged me less than half of that to fix the stuff that this guy missed. He's a scam artist, and will charge you $200 just to show up. Strongly recommend against calling this guy for any reason.

We called this guy when both toilets in our house got backed up. He seemed knowledgeable and made it seem like the work needed would involve a full day's worth of work with major drama. 3 hours and $2600 later, we realized we were majorly ripped off and taken advantage of. We wouldn't recommend this guy to anyone.

This is my first review I have ever left on Yelp that was not an irate ramble in regards to how poorly I was treated and how awful the company was. Today is the first time I feel the need to write a positive review. I am shocked there are only bad reviews here for Dave Bischof, First of all, most companies will falsely create profiles to boost their rating and seem as if they have mixed reviews, or to at least offset their negative ones. Obviously based on the only negative reviews, Dave does not do this. So, first and foremost this exemplifies the integrity and honesty Dave has when it comes to his reputation. Everyone on here seems to have had rather minor issues.... Well, I had a major one! I had a leak that flooded my apartment and the 3 units below me. I had never been in such a panic in my life, after finding the shut off valve I spent the next 20 hours cleaning up. Skip ahead it is now sunday morning, both my wife and I are in awful moods, and we have no water to shower or even use the toilet. My wifes father is a plumber, so naturally he was our first call, he informed us the piece needed would be impossible to find, and to call a plumber to replace the entire shower valve, needless to say this would be at least a 2K repair. We confirmed the necessity and cost with several other plumbers. At this point my wife told me she had found a plumber who is working on sunday and he is on the way. When Dave arrived I could tell he was knowledgeable because he confirmed the information given to us by the other plumbers. He, said he thinks the rest of it is in great shape, and although he could replace it he suggested a less expensive option. He informed me it would not be 100% guaranteed to fix the problem, but hes confident it would work in lieu of the original piece. I agreed to his price (less than $750, or a fraction of others), though I realized it may not completely resolve the issue, it was a band aid and would allow me the time to save up for the full repair.

Bottomline, Dave in an effort to help us after seeing how distraught and drained we were took it upon himself to research and try to find a piece that the manufacturer told me directly, there is no way to get and you have to replace the whole system. DavIe took his lunch and upon his own accord called some of his contacts who informed him they had exactly the part we needed. He called to let us know and my wife and I literally started jumping and hugging each other.

Upon his return he quickly installed the pieces we needed, charged us $0 extra and even explained what the issue was very thoroughly. I am a contractor and I understand the scenario is not as black and white as the homeowner always thinks. For instance, the fact that someone was charged for a return trip because the clog was only pushed down further? So what? Did Dave put that clog there, or perhaps not properly strain debris to allow it to occur. It should be his responsibility to fix un anticipated collateral issues, for free??? I find theses reviews highly unrealistic. Which is why I felt the need to write this review.

Dave Bisschoff is the most honest, knowledgable and forthright individual I had ever dealt with. I am a contractor, not a plumber, but I didn't let dave know I knew anything. This is how I determine whether or not I am being bs'ed. Everything Dave told me was true, accurate and was being suggested to benefit me, despite him making less money.

BOTTOMLINE, I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER PLUMBER. THIS GUY IS AMAZING, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. I'M BLOWN AWAY HOW MUCH HE HAD HELPED US. IF YOU WANT A MIRACLE TO OCCUR, AND FOR NO ONE TO CHARGE YOU MONEY FOR THEIR TIME, CALLING DAVE MAY RESULT IN A REVIEW LIKE THE OTHERS.

HOWEVER, IF YOU VALUE HONESTY, INTEGRITY, AND ARE COURTEOUS AND POLITE, YOU WONT FIND A BETTER INDIVIDUAL TO DO PLUMBING WORK. DAVE IS AMAZING AND I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THESE REVIEWS WHEN I CAME TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE, ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED.

THIS GUY IS THE ONLY PLUMBER I WILL EVER CALL FOR AS LONG AS WE ARE BOTH ALIVE. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ANYTIME TO LEARN WHAT DAVE HAD DONE FOR ME THAT NO OTHER PLUMBER WOULD. HE CARED, HE HELPED, HE FIXED, HE SAID SOMETHING AND IT HAPPENED, IN FACT IT EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS.

I BUILD NEW HOMES AND HIRE PLUMBERS ALL THE TIME, DAVE IS AN INDIVIDUAL THAT IS UNFORTUNATELY A DYING BREED OF PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS MAN.
DESPITE THE STIGMA THAT MAY GO ALONG WITH PLUMMERS AND SHOTTY OR UNECESSARY UPCHARGES THAT IT APPEARS SOME YELPERS ARE UNFAIRLY PUNISHING DAVE FOR. IF YOU NEED SOMEONE TO HOLD YOUR HAND AND PLUNGE YOUR TOILET, YEAH YOU MAY THINK HE IS EXPENSIVE, BUT IF YOU NEED AN EXPERT GOOD LUCK FINDING ANYONE AS GOOD AS THIS MAN. HE IS THE PLUMBERS PLUMBER, AND THE SILVER LINING FOR MY WIFE AND I, AS WE NAVIGATED 30 HOURS OF HELL.

WE ARE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL DAVE AND YOU HAVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE! ILL NEVER CALL ANOTHER PLUMBER AGAIN EVER! HE IS THE EPITOME OF A PROBLEM SOLVER, NOT TO MENTION A HECK OF A NICE GUY.
