Recommended Customer Reviews
I called Dan Wood because our neighbors use them, and our regular plumbing company was not available in a timely manner. Chris from Dan Wood did come out in a couple of days; HOWEVER, I was extremely displeased that my need for two (2) dripping faucets be fixed turned into over an hour sales pitch for them to replace our kitchen and master bath fixtures, buy a water softener, and reroute our copper piping in the basement with PVC lines so they could install the water softener. Additionally, I was quoted three (3) sets of prices to do the work a) repair the faucet leaks; b) we buy new faucets and they install, and c) they furnish the fixtures and install. The rates were for option a) $601; option b) $1060; and option c) $1553; plus the $69 ""trip charge"" that they requested a credit card for to ""guarantee the appointment"" before they would even come out. Our regular plumber did the same kitchen faucet repair three (3) years ago for $179.
I felt like he was trying to take advantage of the fact that I'm a woman, and over 50; I felt like I was being scammed.
I would NEVER recommend Dan Wood to do any kind of repair or installation!!!
Quick, fast and professional, Charles W. did a great job, gave me plenty of options for the repairs I needed, and worked within my budget. Will continue to call Dan Wood for the home repairs I need from them.
My well kept running today so I called Dan Wood Company a company I have dealt with before and had been extremely satisfied with. The company sent out an excellent well tech took a look at the problem and said we needed to pull the well pump because there could be a hole in the pipe. Sure enough pulled the hole pipe and there was a hole in it. He replaced the pipe and the 37 year old pump and it is running better than ever. Great job. Great well tech that was a good person to work with. Could not have asked for a better person to work on the well.
Gray K.Do not choose this company. They charge you 69 dollars just to come look at the problem. That is so they can charge much more to fix it and yet you feel obligated to use them or lose your money. Also do you need a permit? If so be careful to have them specifically mention it in the quote or they will force you to pay more later. It cost me a thousand dollars to get two lighting outlets and an electrical outlet installed. Call anyone else and I guarantee you'll get a better price.
Total rip off: this company runs around giving ridiculous quotes hoping to find a unsophisticated customer that will agree to a inflated price. My wife called them to come out to repair a shower faucet. Should have been about $200. Job. The plumber Justin came out looked at the faucet and proceeded to write an estimate for $961.00 !! I thought he was joking. He apologized over and over then said I owed $69.00 for his time. I have never written a review on a company before but these guys have to be stopped. They are ripping off people! Can't believe this still goes on these days with all the information people have at there fingertips. Beware don't call these guys! Best case scenario you'll owe $69.00 and nothing will get fixed.
Steve C.I needed my basement drain cleared. I've had it done in the past, and it ranged in price from $95-$175. Dan Wood chargers you $69 to come out, and diagnose. When I asked the person on the phone how much this would cost, she said the techs would tell me on site. That seems to have been a lie, because the tech told me it was a $288 flat fee for a drain cleaning, regardless of how long it took. So, $288 + 69 = $357. What a rip-off! I'll never use this company again.
Dolores M.Dan Wood Quality Home Services did some plumbing work on my sister's home and we were very pleased with their work. I recently purchased a home that needed considerable upgrading including furnace, air conditioner, water heater, and electrical and plumbing work. The person who came to my home gave VERY minimum general figures with nothing specific, claiming they would have to have each department come to review the home and that would ""cost them money to pay an employee"" to do that. Too bad they missed out on a great deal of work for me.
I had Brad J and Adam T come out to look at an electrical problem with our new dryer. It turned out to be a wiring issue and I needed two new circuits run in the house. What should have been a minor repair, turned into a $6400 quote. They told me I needed new wiring, new grounding in the house, a new panel box, a surge protector, and even tried selling me some ""new"" air quality filter for my furnace that is 20+ years old (Completely unnecessary). After two additional quotes, I did the work myself for under $250. The Dan Wood Company clearly did not want to do the work and was only interested in the $69 trip fee. The techs were there for more than 2 hours and it was a complete waste of their and my time. I would NEVER call Dan Wood Company again, and no one else should either. Buyer Beware!!
My husband called the Dan Wood Company last week to come out and give us a quote on our bathtub. We have had the issue before, and my husband told the plumber that the last time we had this issue it was a quick fix and cost less than $100. The plumber quoted my husband $500 and charged $70 just to come out to provide an estimate. My husband turned down the quote and called another company. The other company came out, fixed the issue in 10 minutes and it cost less than $70.
My husband called the Dan Wood Company back to explain the situation and ask if there's any way to get the $70 back and they declined it.
Less than impressed with this company.
It sounds like my experience is similar to that of Tina L's....
Tina L.Had a diagnosis done which took the technician less than one minute. Then had him try to fix two minor issues which he wasn't able to fix. He spent most of his time looking for the right size fixture which he didn't find. I was charged the $69 trip fee plus $100 for nothing fixed
