I call their CS line to dispatch a plumber for a leak under the slab. Plumber showed up and explained to me that they don't do any leak detection or slab work.. highly unusual for your unionized, plumbing company, not to have expertise on staff with proper instruments with tooling. The plumber charged me the service fee and left and told me to get a contractor..
I had a scheduled appointment with Dalton but no one ever showed up. I even received two separate text messages confirming the appointment so I'm not sure what happened. I tried calling the number that was provided in the text messages but I was only able to talk to an AI agent and had to leave a message to have someone call me back. Then hours later in the afternoon I received a text message saying that a technician was on their way but again no one showed up. The next morning I received a voicemail from an agent saying they were just returning my call, no other explanation addressing why no one showed up at the scheduled appointment. Wth Dalton - do better! I ended up calling Hansons Heating and Cooling who came out the next day, did a great job so I signed a service contract with them.
Nice guys but ridiculous pricing system. I am a cpa and auditor and they use monkey math to ""try"" to explain their standard pricing system which is in their best interest but not the customers.
I had a $20 capacitor replaced which took them 10 minutes at my house overall. They charged $600. I verified the part price with Ferguson as I keep the box with the exact item number on it to look this up accurately. I noticed Forrest also reported this exact same thing happened to him in the reviews if you look at his review from 2022. Therefore I am not the only one who encountered this.
Company stated this pricing I justified due to their overhead. I can understand profit but this pricing corresponds to charging about $1000/hour. I can understand charging an hour of service plus a markup charge on the part but this makes no sense. I called young plumbing and they charge an hourly rate plus parts which is more in line with honesty and integrity in pricing in my opinion as a person who audits company pricing practices professionally.
Dalton I challenge you to justify this pricing of $600 for a 10 minute service call.
I can not express enough how shady this company is. They will sign you up for their membership without telling you, you are stuck in it for a whole year EVEN if you don't sign a contract. I told them they will hear from my attorney and they gladly canceled it on the spot. That shows enough. Their services are INSANELY overpriced compared to other local plumbers. $500 to replace a plastic P trap on my sink? A $3 part? 10 minutes? Come on now(and that was with my membership that includes 20% off). They have a lot of young plumbers that do not know what they are doing. I recommend going with a separate company if you are needing any work done in your house. Company tries to flaunt they are accredited by the BBB but they are NOT AND their BBB rating is a D-!!!!!!!!!
This company is a scam!! Beware!! Check out all the YELP reviews, NOT the reviews that are on their site--I needed a simple installment of a new thermostat- I ended up paying $875 for a simple thermostat that cost $45 at home depot-- I bought a maintenance plan for $150 and was told I would have a 20 percent discount on anything for the next 12 months- I was told by Andy the technician I needed new wires installed to and from the HVAC unit/ furnace to Re- install my thermostat-- it ended up being a total lie- I was charged $235 to have my AC unit worked on-- another BIG lie by this company--The company LIES like crazy and continues to SCAM people, if you send an email they will not respond, they don't care about their people--if I can send documents I will try to get this done-- Denise Dao Cedarfalls Iowa
I was charged twice for a guy to come out and literally stand in my house for five minutes. They charged me $300.00 each time. I requested a quote for two jobs. One for the installation of three outlets (old to new) and the second job was for a small drain pipe to be replaced. The first quote was over $3,000.00, so naturally I declined the service taking note of how long they sat out in their van before returning with an outrageous quote. The second job was never started as the company failed to ever return communication with me after scheduling an appointment with me. I also was a subscribed member ($15.00/month). They never once serviced or provided maintenance services. I essentially paid them $600.00 for absolutely nothing. Not a single job was performed. Not a single amount of work. They also failed to fix one light socket box that had a small crack in it. They said it wouldn't be a problem to replace the box quickly since I was a member. They noticed it when they were giving me a quote for the first job. They drove away after I declined the first job for that amount. Basically they are unprofessional, dishonorable, they have no courage, nor commitment. A company ran by a crayon eating boot POG. Thieves. Untrustworthy, lazy, incompetent, poorly trained. There are many more words to describe my experience with this company, it's owner, and it's employees.
Dalton installed new furnace and A/C unit in Feb 2019. Furnace runs fine. A/C unit outside runs but is now far louder than my old 30+ year old unit ever was. There's a loud bang at startup that actually startles you if you're nearby. While running, it sounds like there's a bearing going out and the whine is audible inside the house. Very annoying. And I get to listen to this every summer for the rest of my life.
Honestly, I really wish I could give a better review. Most of the people we have worked with at Dalton have been very polite and they always come out to work on our systems. They installed our grandmothers system so we decided to go with them as well. Unfortunately we paid for a new heat pump system (A/C/Furnace Combo) and since it's been installed they've had to come out 5 or 6 times now. the first four times were because settings were improperly configured on the circuit board of the furnace unit. Each time they came out they had different techs with them saying different things. First the furnace wasn't adequately cooling the house and the noise coming from it was really obnoxious. So we had issues with cooling, now we go to test the furnace to make sure we have heat for the cold nights that are coming and we have no heat. The breaker outside had to be replaced, the unit won't pull gas. It's just been a mess. One of the technicians straight up gaslit us insisting that the sound our furnace was making was ""normal as far as I can tell"" and tried refusing to come service it, saying he wanted to get a factory representative, but then when he showed up he agreed it was too loud, did a little research and fixed the problem (without the factory rep). Like come on guys. We spent like almost 15 grand with you and this is how we get treated? We just want our stuff to work. Customer service is not what this review is based on, we have a 15 thousand dollar piece of metal that doesn't function properly and, unfortunately, that is a bigger deal to me than a rude technician. It has been months since this was installed, it needs to be remedied I'm getting sick of this.
Update: they replaced the furnace completely. As of tonight it is still not functioning as advertised. Don't buy a heat pump system here, it's not worth the trouble.
I also really like how the owner responds to all these nice reviews but hasn't had anything to say about the horrible experience we've had. Real cool.
$900 to replace a garbage disposal. I had a disposal already purchased by they refused to put in the one I bought. Required me to by THEIR disposal and then charged $900 for what amounted to about 30mintutes of work. Technician also made the comment that the price was good for him but bad for me and laughed.
Dalton Plumbing and Heating was timely, they did fix my issue... but this is all I can say. $945 for my unit to get freon... I expected a couple hundred dollars, but nearly a grand? I cannot fathom why a 30 min visit to fill up freon was a thousand dollars. There is a person in my town who would have done it for $300 on the higher end, I just would have had to wait another day or two. I truly feel robbed of $600. Update: they charge $600 for the first pound of freon and $91 every pound after that so I recommend someone else.
