I launched my company and a home in the Orange County area in 2004. Dakota Plumbing continues to be family-run and led to this day.

Hailing from North Dakota, I gained experience in the plumbing industry as a plumber in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Jose for many years. At the start of my career, I graduated from the plumbing training program at Los Angeles Trade Technical College and underwent an apprenticeship. I made the choice to obtain my license and go out on my own in 2004.

So happy I found them! I had a back up in my second bedroom so nothing urgent and they gave me an early morning window which was great to get it done without missing work. Also, bought the $50 for $100 deal which was great. They are on the expensive side for a quick cleaning, $175, but with the coupon, the flexible time window and great reviews I paid for the convenience and quality of work. Totally worth it and will call them next time I need a plumber.

I called in the morning. They gave me a two hour window midday. I asked them to call on their way. They called at the earliest of the two hour window. Brendan came, he saw, he conquered! We had a nasty smell from a nasty clog. He was patient and professional. He took off the toilet and snaked the drain for an hour straight, taking time to check his progress with the video camera as he went down (which means dragging the auger back out, camera back in, taking the camera out, then snaking again). He reset the toilet, no wobbles, beautiful caulk work, bathroom clean, no wax sticky mess, no dirty water residue anywhere, no sign that a plumber had just worked there. The bonus is the $50 for $100 deal going on now. It got me to call them, and their good work will keep me. I will call them on my next plumbing issue, and I recommend them for my friends and family to use on their plumbing misfortunes.

Justin and Brandon did a great job at a good price. They are an honest company and cost less than any other plumber I've used for the same job--tree roots causing a main line drain blockage. Brandon was a nice guy who knew a lot about plumbing, who took him time to do a complete job and then cleaned up after himself. I will definitely call them again.

Ripped Off. Charged us $328 for unclogging our toilet..It originally cost us $285.00 for the toilet and to have it installed and this was about 4 yrs ago and Dakota Plumbing gave us an invoice for $328.00 to unclog it. You have got to be kidding me. Less than an Hour of Work...I'm in the wrong line of work....

I am in the middle of remodeling an upstairs bathroom. After removing all the old fixtures (vanity, toilet and tub), I determined that major plumbing modifications were needed. In short, a gas line, a drain vent pipe and the water lines were all encroaching into the space wheret the new shower was to be installed. I saw an ad for this merchant in the Church Bulletin, and hoping that such an affiliation would increase my chances of getting honest work, I called Dakota Plumbing, described the work needed to Justin and emailed photos to him. He would not give me a price for the job, but quoted me $135.00 per hour. My bad, but I thought that rate was for 2 people (Justin and Brandon), but only Brandon, the apprentice, showed up. The reason I called him an apprentice is because he made several cell phone calls to Justin for advise during the day. If all were completed perfectly, I probably would have let my concerns about the bill go. However, this is not the case! Ignoring the generally sloppy work that appears to be functional, there is one major issue that I uncovered. As I was getting ready to close up the walls for tiling, I doubled checked all the plumbing work and discovered that the coupling from the shower diverter to the shower head was never sealed. Not with solder, not as a sharkbite fitting or not as a propress joint. I pulled the line right out of the fitting with no effort. You can imagine the disaster that would have ensued had I not checked!!
Now a quick comment on the bill As quoted, I was billed $135.00 per hour for 8 hours. Note that the 8 hours included a trip for Brandon to get more supplies and probably grab a bite to eat. This was about 1.5 hours and another 30 minutes for Brandon to write up the bill. If you could get $135.00 per hour for the standard 40 hour work week for 50 weeks a year, you would earn $270,000 .... WOW!! as an apprentice. I would also like to note that the bill included $194.00 for said supplies (about 25 fittings). My inspection of the breakdown raises some suspicion about the pricing. I will be going to Home Depot, later today to compare prices, and if warranted, I will update this report.

Quick update: Plumbing supplies, as detailed on the bill, should have cost $106.02 plus tax.

Justin just left after addressing all my concerns. Updated rating to 4 stars.

Dakota Plumbing came through. Needed to replace diverter for shower and they did a good job. Quick response time, friendly over the phone and in person. Affordable rates too. Thank you!!

I want to update my review because the owner actually called and seemed genuinely sincere about feeling bad because we were not happy with what we were charged. He actually offered to reverse the payment but, since we felt that the job was successfully completed just not complex enough to justify the price, he ended up sending us a check for a hundred dollars. He seems like someone who should do very well with his ""make the customer happy"" attitude and we wish him well in his business.

Brandon replaced my shower valve, overflow and drain and did a great job! I had this job looked at by many plumbers who had such snarky attitudes but not Brandon. He was friendly, fast and clean. What a pleasant surprise .
Goodbye other plumbers with snarky attitudes! Dakota plumbing is my new plumbing company. Thanks again Brandon.

Beware!!! I called for a repair to my ""non-stop running"" toilet and for the installation of two faucets. The plumber called and let me know he was ten minutes behind schedule, which I appreciated, and he quickly repaired my bathroom in about 15 minutes--I was pleased. The part was about $15 and he charged me $75 total. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace the valve stops under the sink--totally understandable, but here is where things went awry, he told me they cost $50 EACH! (And I needed 4!) I've had many faucets replaced and never heard of such a thing. I looked it up on Lowe's website and also sent my brother (who is a plumber) a text. I quickly saw that the parts were only between $5 and $10 on Lowe's and I asked him about that. He laughed at my use of the word ""Lowe's"" as if it carries inferior parts. I said fine, what is the name of the product you are giving me so I can verify this $50 cost...of course he could not provide that information. I confirmed with him that the $200 for those parts did not include the installation of the faucets/his labor. Nope, that $200 was just for the parts. I told him I was fine with the repair to my toilet and that would be all. He laughed at me and said, ""go ahead and call another plumber they will charge you $90 for each piece!"" He went outside and wrote up my invoice. By the time he returned, I had heard from my brother, the plumber, who said no, they shouldn't cost more than $15 each...now I can understand a mark up, but that was ridiculous! And his attitude sucked! When I told him what my brother said, he was very defensive and said, ""I'm not going to discuss it with you."" And he left. To be fair, he seemed knowledgeable and timely, however, he seemed after easy prey...a single mother with two little girls in the house I guess seemed easy prey to him! WRONG!!! :(

I was looking to replace my current kitchen sink and faucet and several other plummets claimed they could not do that work for many different reasons however Dakota plumbing came, and did a perfect job! I was extremely happy with the results. They were very professional, clean and respectful to my property! Highly recommend!
