Jim E.Totally unscrupulous hacks. Two-bit con artists. They took me for $4000 on a completely ineffective septic system. My fault for not educating myself, but they took full advantage of that. I've spoken with other tradesmen about them since, and they are known by all of them as dishonest, incompetent and negligent. Stay away from Daka!
We have been using Daka Plumbing & Heating for many, many years for a variety of plumbing needs, including: fixing clogged lines, replacing 40 year old septic tank and buried oil tank, installing a 2nd septic tank and new leach bed, replacing plumbing fixtures inside and outside of the house, replacing water heater and holding tank, replacing oil furnace....you name it! This is a family owned business where the owner and employees make their clients feel like they are part of the family and their number one priority. I rarely write reviews, and believe the other reviews here were the result of limited experience with Daka, catching a Daka employee on a bad day or both. I trust this company and will continue to use them for all my plumbing and heating needs as long as they are in business!
This company sucks. So unprofessional. Only a matter of time before the state shuts them down, if they even have a license. Bungled a simple plumbing job and refused to take responsibility for it. Now they will take responsibility another way. BEWARE OF THESE CROOKS.
Michael S.First they ruined my back yard. Then when the design engineer would not approve their installation, they hired their own. The install destroyed my above ground pool when it wasn't supposed to go anywhere near the pool.
Finally, the GC on our project used them (since they were there) to install my new oil burner. It cost me over $500 to fix their mistakes.
Not only shouldn't you hire them, but if you see them coming run and protect your home just in case.
We are not a customer, but a truck repair facility. We made repairs to 2 of their broken down trucks in 2015. They owe us over $1000.00. Completely ignored us. Warning to any other Repair facility...Get paid immediately or you will never get paid.
These guys are awful! 1st day, they show up and try to gouge us for a pump up system. Instead of just wanting to replace the parts, they want to take up my bathroom and closet flooring, drill through the foundation flooring and through the wall and add a 300 gallon tank, FOR NO REASON. No estimate, 2nd day, they move all of my stuff around in my bathroom, make a HUGE mess, leave a cabinet leaning half haphazard so that it could land on me or my small child. 3rd day, supposed to show up at 3:30, their office person calls 5 MINUTES before to say they aren't coming because of an emergency. I haven't had water for a week! The women then proceeds to say that we need to rearrange OUR schedules when we all have left work early for all three times! ""Oh well, he does his best work in the morning and you guys aren't willing to rearrange your schedules."" I don't care if it is AM or PM, if you are a crappy plumber it doesn't matter what time of day it is!
Robert F.These guys are listed on Angies List, OK?
Caveat Emptor!!!
I wasted 3 days. The first day the papa comes out & I thought they were going to do the job, well he looks and says I have to order the parts. I already told hime what was needed.
The second time these 2 guys come out and after all day he screws up and melts a plastic part on the water softner. This means another day with them. They call and come out and the turkey was so high on himself I thought they were done as the leave.
Lucky I didn't waite until 2:am for the sofner to do its thing so I ran it at1p.m. and as it is taken its dump I look and see the black hose is just hanging in th rear, so I grab buckets to catch the 35 gallons of waste. I called them and told them to get back out. Lucky they sent another guy.
To thinlk I gave the other 2 a tip!
By the way the water softner isn't even placed straight.
I can give you more Horror... but thats ok, you get the story.
we had an issue with the tank's alarm going off every time we take a shower, I called Daka Plumbing and a Very professional Lady who answered my call and scheduled an appointment.
The owner and one more Gentleman came, took a look and found that problem was the floater that fail from where it suppose to be hanged. the problem was smaller than what everyone was expecting It took them about 15 minute to fix it.
The amazing part is that they didn't charge me nothing and the owner kindly offer me a free lid for my tank!
They are Very honest people, and I highly recommend them. I will definitely call them if any problem arises in the future, and recommend them to my friends.
Please do not use this company. They took advantage of the fact we had no water from our well. I had a newborn and was in a panic to get the water working again and didn't have time to shop a price quote. After they a new water pressure tank, I found out that I was totally overcharged for their service and parts. Beware.
Kirsten D.We called Daka Plumbing because there was an alarm going off regarding our septic pump. The service provider showed up two hours late and did not call. When he did show up, he explained that he got lost. That is understandable. We had our system pumped a few weeks before so we knew exactly where the two septic openings were. When we told Tom from Daka exactly where to dig, he did not listen to us and explained that he had to dig up my entire front walk to find ""what's under there"". After listening to my explanation that we know exactly where everything was, he continued to disregard our instructions. My front walk, along with all of my perennials were destroyed. When he did finally dig where we told him to, he immediately found exactly what he was looking for (after destroying my front walk). He then immediately explained that our septic pump motor was burned out. He said he had to come back for further investigation/work.
The second time he came, he was over an hour late, still with no phone call, and we made sure he had all of our contact information. Before digging the entire septic pump out we stopped him because he didn't seem to know what he was doing. We then called a wonderful company who looked at our lawn and front walk with horror. The first thing that the gentleman told us was that the quote that Daka gave us for the new pump was overpriced by 300%. The pump, plus the labor would have cost us over $4,000! We looked online and found this extremely overpriced septic pump to be exactly that. I can understand marking up prices, of course, but to this amount seemed to be excessive to the point of fraud. My husband immediately called Daka to tell them this and we were told by Violet, the woman who answers the phones at Daka, (these are her exact words, she was on speaker and I heard her say this) ""If you like the internet more, why don't you go buy it there and install it yourself"". My husband said thank you but no and we asked the professional from the other company to begin investigating the problem.
Within ten minutes he found out exactly what the problem was. The person from Daka did not even do the most basic troubleshooting of our septic pump. There was nothing wrong with it but a loose wire connection! The total cost of the repair was $280, a far cry from the $4,000 that Daka assured us we had to pay for a fix. We then called Daka again and spoke to Violet, explaining exactly what had happened with the reputable company. Violet then explained to us that they would be sending us a bill for over $600 for the ""work"" they did, telling us that the man was here for over five hours. I was present the entire time and his total time on my property was two hours. I have work emails I sent from my home IP address during the entire time he was here and can prove in a court of law if I have to that I was there the entire time.
Today, on September 19th, we received a bill for $675 that Daka is demanding we pay. We are happy to pay for the two hours the worker was here, but for no more time than that. They are now not answering our calls or returning our messages. If we do not hear from them within the next few days (and we will continue to call) we will be calling the Health Dept (the other company told us to do so, as this is possibly hazardous work they would have done) and we will be contacting the Better Business Bureau.
I have never done anything like this in my life. I have never had to call any BBB or County department in my life and I have never written a bad review of any service we have had done to our home. This is an egregious misuse of power, time and money if we were foolish enough to let them work on our septic tank. DO NOT USE Daka PLUMBING! You might not be as lucky as us and stop them in time. My front walk is still destroyed and I have to go buy all new perennials and grass seed. The gentleman from the reputable company was nice enough to fill in all the holes the worker from Daka left in the front of our house, and smooth over the dirt as much as he could. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
