Jeffrey V.I am a founding partner of Papa Haydn restaurants in Portland.
We've used Sam Miller and his loyal crew for nearly thirty years.
As someone who has hired and employed thousands of people over the years, I'd say that the best indicator of a company's integrity is the length of time that key employees remain.
Sam and his guys are prompt, exceedingly professional, and honest. There's simply no better plumbing company in this city.
Andres C.Had two problems. They fit me in the schedule quickly and got the job done for a reasonable price. In addition, Tracey is a very nice guy. I'll definitely use Crouchley next time.
I just finished a complete water system install with Crouchley by sitting on the front stoop and chatting with Tracey as he laced up his boots! I'm so pleased. It started when I heard a water leak back in late November, six months ago, when there was snow on the ground. By way of recommendation, I called Crouchley and before I could clear the crawl space, Clayton was in my driveway. He crawled, he dug, he found the leak in the rusted pipe, he repaired it and then followed up with an estimate for a proper upgrade. Clayton replanted the plants in my flower beds which makes him a total winner! Six months later, Tracey came with a highly capable, husband/wife drilling team, new pipe and complete explanations of what was to happen next and why. As the job is wrapping up, he found an old, problematic bathtub pipe and a leaking kitchen/laundry pipe in my crawlspace surely saving me from future disaster. Not sure if it gets any better!
Kenneth G.The woman that generally runs the desk when you walk in off lombard is as surly as any person we have had the displeasure to attempt to do business with. We attempted to have them come out and give us an estimate but were met with such a poor attitude at the desk that we elected not to use them at all.
Jeff R.I had just bought a condo and needed some work done before moving in. A friend recommended Crouchley Plumbing, and that was good enough for me!
They were great about getting me an estimate for what I wanted done. They were great at working with me to schedule their work around my schedule. And they were great about coming in, doing the work, and cleaning up afterward. Special thanks to Tracey for listening to what I wanted done and helping me figure out the right solutions; and special thanks to Clayton for the excellent work and explaining it to me really well.
Great work + fair price = the only plumbing company I'm ever going to need! I strongly recommend them without reservation.
We have had Crouchely Plumbing answer our calls for help for the past 40 to 50 years and have always been happy with the repairs, answer to questions and even parts for small needs. We have used them with our rentals and our home repairs.
Sarah M.The strangest thing happened with this plumber. When I first called them, I was impressed that the woman who answered the phone was efficient, understood immediately what I needed (someone to come out and give me an estimate) and we booked it. The day of the estimate, two gentlemen showed up, both with t shirts with the company name on it which always impresses me, and were friendly and helpful. They came up with unique ways to solve my unusual plumbing needs for a remodel with lots of exposed plumbing. We talked about fixtures, colors of angle stops, and many unusual conditions. We all got along great and I felt that I found a great plumber. The owner told me I didn't need a new rough-in valve because the one exposed looked fine and he pointed out that they do not ""oversell"". I appreciated that. They even had a guy available that day for my first phase. I booked that for the next day due to my schedule. The plumber showed up promptly and did a good job. Before he came though, since I hadn't gotten a written estimate, I just called the office to find out what their costs would be, what their markup was on materials, and to confirm the appointment. For some reason, though I had asked for a call first (given a two hour window) since I don't live at the house, this information was not conveyed to the scheduler. No problem; it was corrected, and I got the call.
Now for the strange part. When I got home and read my email at the end of the day, I got an email from the owner declining the bid by saying ""we don't feel we can meet your needs"". I was already their customer!! The job went swimmingly. And, they had come up with all kinds of unique solutions to my needs! Shocked, I called the office and spoke to Joanne. When I mentioned this to her, she said that when people inquire about their markup and ask such questions, it leads to problems. What? That sounds very unprofessional to me. She also said it could happen that the plumber that was going to arrive, may not have the same ideas about what should be done that the owner came up with and explained to me. What? The owner was very confident about his solutions and took detailed notes.
I thought I found a great plumber. Not only did it shock me that they turned down an existing customer's business but that they could afford to turn away a whole day's work in the future!
Erin M.I've had just one experience with them, but I was left super impressed. When my water heater died unexpectedly, I figured it would be a day or two until it could be replaced, or cost an arm and a leg for rush service. Not so. Within 2 hours of my husband calling Crouchley, a plumber was at our house, giving us a bid to replace it. By the afternoon, I had a new water heater, properly installed, including some improvements over the previous installation (earthquake strap, extended overflow valve, etc). Hooray for hot water!
I had a great experience with them 2 years ago, but this most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
The plumber who came out did so to do three things, none of which was major. (Unclog a sink, fix a drip on another sink, and fix a faucet on a shower.) He billed me $98 to install $1.25 in parts on the shower, couldn't unclog the one sink, and didn't even attempt the other sink.
It's the first time I've had a contractor actually leave me feeling relatively competent. And believe me, I was SHOCKED to see this kind of treatment from Crouchley. So I guess your mileage may vary.
Lacy C.Look if you are in North Portland and need Plumbing help call them, enough said.
I had to use them for plumbing recently (a busted frozen pipe) and even though probably everyone and their mother also had emergencies they came right out, and even had a good attitude! They didn't rip me off and did a great job. I wish more service companies were like them.
