Company Overview

In Northvale, NJ, Cross County Plumbing & Heating, Inc. offers specialized services in plumbing, heating, water heaters, and kitchen and bathroom remodels.

Starting in 1985 with one truck and two plumbing and heating professionals, Cross County Plumbing & Heating Inc. once boasted a fleet of 15 trucks and over 20 technicians!

We are proud of the services we provide and the accomplishments we've made throughout our 32-year journey!

From a young age, John enjoyed fixing things and working with his hands. One day, John's father listened as his secretary talked about her husband starting a plumbing business and needing support. He proposed that she let John join him on weekends; I was 12 at the time and thrilled to have something to do! That moment sparked my dream of becoming a plumber and owning my own business!

I had used this company in the past and I thought they were fair and the work was fine. I called for service on 2 leaky shower heads and a toilet bowl that was continuing to slowly run. I did not ask for an estimate since I had used them before. The woman who answered did not give any price when I called either. The technician showed up and determined that he was unable to fix anything on site at the time. He said he needed parts for the showers and told me that the Kohler toilet had a recall. He said I should contact Kohler for the toilet bowl. I wasn't able to find anything about the alleged recall, but that's really irrelevant. He was there for 45 minutes and FIXED NOTHING. He charged me SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!! Almost $1,000 an hour. Oh, and that wouldn't count toward any eventual repairs. Absolutely despicable. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I can not comment on the quality of their work since they took me for $700 and didn't fix ANYTHING

I have been using John & his team at Cross County Plumbing for over 10 years for all of my plumbing and heating repairs. His trouble shooting experience is excellent. He replaced our boiler and water heater for a price that was not only comparative but completed with extra work that needed to be done at the time without an additional charge.

John and his son Lorenzo (Owners of Cross County Plumbing) have always answered all my questions and calls with the most knowledgeable and easy to understand answers. I even called his emergency line at midnight on a Friday night when I had no heat, he answered and he and Lorenzo were at my house the next day! I highly recommend Cross County Plumbing.

I've used this company in the past and found there technician Travis extremely knowledgeable but the owner greedy. Recently my fan vent for my broiler went down. The technician came to my house and found the problem and called his owner John for the price of the job. John stated the cost of the job was $2,100. Being not pleased with the price, I asked if I provide the part how much would the labor be and he states $800 and that it would take four hours to complete the work. In addition to that, he required me pay him $150 now since his technician was already at my house. I then questioned him that the $150 would be removed out of the $800 when they completed the work...He says no. He began to lecture me that he's been in business since 1984 and he teaches business classes and is on boards. Mind you, I'm a 52 year man that does sales for a well know media company associated with news agencies. These are the type of stories that our reporters love. Moving forward, he states that the part cost $1100. Wait for it, wait for it, I bought the part from my neighborhood plumbing supply house for only $521. I returned and he subsequently returned and completed the work. Standing next to him the entire time, he completed the work in about twenty minutes. It took another about twenty minutes for testing. Speaking with other professionals I found out that one hour of labor for one man would had been more responsible.

I will never use them again. The website states free estimates, none of this is true. SHAMEFUL!

They came in mid-July because our AC was not cooling our condo. The guy looked around for a bit and said there is not much he could see or do. We ended up getting a shot of freon which cost $350. Today I got an email from our management company regarding a leak in the roof of our downstairs neighbor. A plumber inspected our unit and found a pipe in our HVAC system is clogged which is leaking through our floor. Not for nothing but I wasn't impressed by Cross County then and I suspect their laziness might end up costing me hundreds or thousands more in repairs.

I had showers replaced by cross county and it was the worst installation I have ever experienced. I never once saw a licensed plumber work on my project. The owner, John, never touched a pipe throughout the entire installation. The entire mixing valve moves in and out of the wall because they didn't secure the controls to anything behind the walls. He did not install the controls called for on the plan because he said he was not obligated to do so contractually.

Needed to replace a bathroom faucet. Cross County came when promised and John did a great job in a very tight cabinet. They charge an extra 5% for credit cards. I paid by check. I think the price was a bit high, but what isn't these days?
