Ron works on drains. He was extremely helpful. He was always on time and kept in touch by text and phone. He always explained what was going on during the job and thankfully coordinated another company which was necessary to complete my complex and involved job. I will request Ron's services in the future.
I messed up my bathroom faucet and called Cronen. Tony came out within a few hours and fixed all my issues. Extremely friendly and helpful. I was hoping for a small discount since a lot of companies have coupons, but didn't get one. Oh well.
In March of 2020 I hired Cronen to jet my line. The tech dropped the gasket from the cover into the line causing it to clog. After hiring another plumber to saw the concrete, remove sewer pipe and the gasket and putting everything back together. I was out $3,000. We went to court, the judge ruled in my favor and instructed Cronen to pay my costs. It is now October 2021 and Cronen has still not paid.
This is Arapahoe County Small Claims Case 2020 S 0248. This is all public record if you want to look it up.
We had an issue with one of our toilets. They came out the very next day and resolved the issue.
Set up an appt for Sam to come out. He called 2 mins before appt and said he would be 1.5 hours late and I said that's fine because I was pretty desperate for a quote. He text me 2 hours later that he couldn't make it and said he would touch base with me the next day. Never heard from him. I guess they didn't want my business.
Jane D.Avoid at all cost. This review was posted with a lot of thought and consideration and after sufficient time has lapsed. We do not want to 'slander' businesses, but this experience was very nasty and we want to highlight this to any potential customers.
Timeline of events
Dec 1st: First Service (snaking of our main line) but still slow/clogged.
Dec 8th: Second Service, Cam + Snake. Camera shows the line is okay, just more roots that didn't get cleared the first time. Worker attempts to snake out the pipe again, but it gets stuck. He cuts it, but fails to retrieve, and says they will return to recover the snake.
Dec 9th: 3 man team returns, fails to recover snake. Blames it on our clay pipes and that snake could have gotten stuck through a hole (not logical given that they used a camera first before reinserting the snake). Was given high quotes to dig up basement/yard -- $2,800 to dig through the basement, $5,000 to go through the yard, all just for cleanouts. Worse than retail rates from other plumbers. Asked us to call Joe to negotiate for a deal since it was their fault.
Dec 13th, 15th, 16th: Calls were not returned despite us calling back and leaving our number
Dec 17th: Our drains completely backed up. No answer to emergency line
Dec 19th: Nasty call from owner- Joe yelling at us and hung up on us. The goal was to come to an agreement on paying for additional service and getting a reasonable rate since the work was only necessary due to their failure. For example. we had a separate quote from Apex Plumbing for $2,570 for putting cleanouts up front and retrieving the snake. (half the price of what Cronen was 'offering' to us)
Dec 20th: Secretary gives us the quote of $2,500 for putting cleanouts up front and retrieving the snake.
We went with another service and replaced our entire sewer line. We took out the snake and guess what- It did NOT get stuck due to our pipe conditions, it wrapped up on itself. We have pictures to prove it.
We attempted to file a complaint against their license to operate in the City of Arvada. Unfortunately that wasn't an option, though we did find out that at the time their General Liability Insurance in Arvada was expired as of Nov 1, 2016. #AEC3523
We intended to take Cronen to small claims court (since we have documentation and proof of their failure every step of the way), but as business owners, we couldn't spend the time and resources to carry it through.
What was more disappointing was that Joe could have resolved the situation by apologizing and offering us a reasonable rate to fix their mistake (instead of giving us a quote twice the price of what other companies were quoting us). They would have gotten the work, and we would be understanding that mistakes like this happen. Instead, Joe chose to take the defensive 'flight' option, dodging our calls and then finally treating us unprofessionally by yelling at us and blaming us on the phone.
We hope that this review directs customers to give the work to other small businesses that will take care of them the way that they should.
carl h.Replaced my water line in 2014. Workers left garbage on the property. Broke my sprinkler system and refused to fix it. Left a hole next to the foundation. It rained and a bunch of water funneled into my basement. Had to deal with that. Don't use these guys.
Cronen Plumbing is terrible at communicating with the customer and extremely unprofessional. I called them because my building manager recommended them to replace a shower cartridge and unclog a drain. They were not able to complete either job on the first visit. It took them two days to come back out and finish the cartridge replacement, however the drain was backing up worse than before. After multiple phone calls, it took them another WEEK to come out. The tech was an hour late but finally got the drain fixed.
I was referred to Joe Cronen by another real estate agent, and he's been my go-to guy for sewer issues ever since. Far more responsive and knowledgeable than any other sewer repair company I have worked with. I highly recommend him!
Two thumbs down to Joe the owner..My yard looks like crap after he replaced sewer line..Joe's workers all in all were great and were very hard workers,...But without proper leadership has made this a big mess....I will be posting pictures on facebook and have complaint filed with the BBB......
