I hired Criterion Plumbing in August of 2023 to troubleshoot a problem with a water dispenser in a new refrigerator. After the visit, I mailed a check for his services. He notified me that he had not received the check. So I sent him a second check and asked for him to not cash one of them. Within three weeks, both of the checks were cashed. I called him repeatedly and sent a letter, requesting that he reimburse me. He never responded to any of my requests. And has never paid me.

I needed a toilet installed quickly, with only 2 days before a holiday. Criterion staff went out of their way to schedule one of their plumbers to come late in the day and installed the toilet. Their response was immediate and responded to my ""emergency"" toilet install. Highly recommended!!

I had a leak in my bathroom so I called my home warranty. My home warranty assigned the case to Criterion. I received notice from their system that they assigned me an appointment day and time. I received the confirmation via text and email. This was on a Monday. That Friday at almost 5pm, they left a voicemail stating they had an opening 3 weeks out. I tried calling them back with zero answer. I called first thing Monday and again, no answer. In my voicemails both on Friday and Monday, I advised that I already had an appointment and was expecting them there on Tuesday.

Some guy (never gave his name) finally called on Monday and left a voicemail stating that the appointment I was given was a glitch in the system and I could take the appointment weeks out or call my home warranty for assistance.

First off, if you're doing business, you state your name. Second, why did it take a week to contact the customer. And third, how unprofessional to treat a customer like the did. Don't bother using this joke of a business. Go somewhere else.

Took a week and a half to get an appt for an urgent ceiling leak. My first appt was cancelled same day and rescheduled 4 days later. When the tech came out he looked at my leak and said that is a roof leak and the pipe is not in the ceiling and is in the walls. He did not further look or investigate in my attic. One week later I had a solar roof specialist come to inspect my "" roof leak"" and he crawled in my attic and saw pipes leaking right above my ceiling that was leaking! This error that Criterion tech made cost me another week of very bad damage in my house which now has a smell from so much water damage with possible mold! When I called to inform Criterion about this and that I needed urgent resolution to fix the pipe they said they could fit me in 4 days later which is unacceptable! All of this work was through my home appliance insurance. I called Copperfield Plumbing and they responded to my house in less than one hour today and fixed the leak. I had to pay additional money to get this urgently fixed when Criterion could not identify the problem or respond timely.

As a small business owner for over 30 years, I appreciate good customer service. Criterion Plumbers delivered. I thought my garbage disposal was shot. When I flipped the switch, the motor would hum, but wouldn't work. There was nothing clogging it, so I called Criterion Plumbers. Chris patiently explained everything, analyzed the problem, did some trouble shooting, undid the unit, opened it up, and found a tiny screw that had somehow lodged down into a drain hole and caused the motor to seize.
I asked for his business cards so I can pass them out to my neighbors.
Now I know who to call for any future plumbing needs.

BEWARE! Chris' work is UNSAFE, SHODDY, and NOT up to code. Chris installed a gas line at my house last weekend that had to be completely taken out and replaced the day after he installed it. He showed up late, and in an attempt to rip me off, he took short cuts and used improper materials.

First of all, he put the emergency shut off valve under the crawl space of my house rather than put in the time, energy and materials needed to have it coming out of the side of the wall where it belongs. In an emergency, I would've had to army crawl 15 feet under my house to shut off the gas?? NOT UP TO CODE AND UNSAFE!

Second, he used a type of pipe that CANNOT BE BURIED UNDERGROUND! Mind you, this is a gas line that has to be buried 18"" underground. Lucky for me, he was too negligent to backfill the ditch when he was done; otherwise I would not have realized that he used the wrong type of pipe. I would've had to dig out the pipe after it crushed under the weight of the backfill. You cannot take these types of shortcuts with a gas line!!

Lastly, the gas line was not properly stubbed out at the site location where the fire pit will be installed. Rather than stub it out correctly with an elbow and riser, Chris just left the stub there in the ditch, so the whole gas line would have to lift up in order to bring stub out to ground level. UNSAFE and SHODDY WORKMANSHIP.

I brought up all my concerns with Chris and offered to pay him GENEROUSLY for the materials (I did not believe he deserved to be paid for the poor-quality of his work). He wanted to come back, but I did not feel comfortable having him back here, nor did I trust him to do this job properly the second time around after so many significant errors. Chris threatened me with legal action if I did not pay him the full amount, even after I had numerous people (including 2 other plumbing companies) verify that this work was unacceptable. It was clear it had to be redone in order for it to not only function, but also to be safe and up to code. After several threats, I paid him the full amount, but BE WARNED. This guy will scam you and leave you with bigger problems than what you started with. I strongly advise you hire someone else.

Hired Chris Rusteen to repair icemaker line which shd have taken 1 hour. Insisted in going under house despite being told line was behind cabinets. Brought an inexperienced trainee (whom he said he paid $30/hr) whom he did not supervise. She got stuck under house on my nickel at $175/hr and was here 5 hours. End of day plumbing was a mess under sink; pipes broken, icemaker line missing, things torn apart. Tried to reschedule them to come back 2 days later. Stood up for 5 hours. Thereafter would not finish job or return my calls. Now their verbal charge of $80 after tearing up my plumbing has turned into $1180. Spent $175 for another plumber to correct their mistakes. A month later I finally paid $150 to get job done right. Was willing to call it a wash with my extra expense. In addition to reporting me to collections and tarnishing my credit score of 760, he had his secretary make several threatening and insulting phone calls/emails. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!

My hot water heater stopped giving hot water. Chris came out and looked at 7:30 in the evening , advised , ordered the part and fixed it the next day. Is friendly and knows what he is doing. I will be calling Chris with my next plumbing emergency ( or remodel ).

About 20 years ago I had a person from another site do some remodeling/ plumbing work for us on our downstairs bathroom.

Long story short we found out that same bathroom had a leak in the shower drain and no p-trap installed.

After some folks recommended a plumber who quoted $2,000 to do the job, I searched on Yelp and found Chris at Criterion Plumbers.

I gave him a call and he got back to me the next day. I sent him a video of the leak and he asked some questions about my crawl space and accessibility.

Within a few hours I received a quote that was a lot less than the $2,000 quoted by the other plumber. He told me that this type of work was common for him and that it would not be a problem.

He completed the work and verified that there were no leaks on the day of the appointment. He said he would come by the next day to make sure everything was all good.

Received video and pictures of his work with the water running.... No leaks and at a price that did not break the bank.
