Quincy T.I don't really know anything about fixing stuff around the house, which probably makes me a crappy homeowner. But hey, such is life, and a homeowner I am nonetheless. Luckily, the folks at Crescent Plumbing exist to make my failure as a handyman a little less visible.
We actually inherited their service as a result of our previous homeowners, and I've had to call them out twice, but each time, it was pretty great. The main experience i had with them was when our sewer line completely backed up and no water would drain. Not only did they have someone answer the phone on a Sunday afternoon, but they dispatched a couple of folks over to fix the problem, who did so cheerily, even though it was a pretty gnarly problem that took lots of effort to fix. It wasn't necessarily cheap, but I feel a lot better that there's 24-hour service out there to fix stuff that breaks in my house.
Having lived in other places and used other similar companies to service homes and apartments, getting 24-hour emergency service that is convenient and reliable is fairly rare, but Crescent saved my bacon.
I'm a little surprised to see the negative reviews (some are fairly old) on Yelp for these guys, as in a handful interactions over a year or so, they've never been anything but excellent and pleasant, from the office staff to the actual employees. I've had grumpy fix-stuff-that-broke employees, and these definitely weren't them.
I used Crescent Plumbing when our furnace wouldn't start on a Friday afternoon. They sent someone on Saturday morning-very responsive but expensive. For a weekend visit plan to pay $245 minimum. In our case the plumber had to install another thermostat (that we had) because our Nest stopped working. The fee for this was $265, yikes. Thanks for being a 24 hour service, but for what probably was a 15 min. Visit that's a lot of money.
I will call Charlie Lovett from Lovett plumbing & heating next time.
I have used the company for years. Great people! Quick & clean service. They are very prompt.
Lorraine C.I usually read reviews before I call a company but I didn't this time cause it was an emergency. we had no heat on the most coldest day in feb 2015 . he took 5 hrs to get here. looked at my furnance said it was filthy with dust blew a little dust out w his mouth and said we needed a new furnance cause we hadent been keeping up w maitnance. bottom line he charged me $182.00 for ten min of work. took out my filter and said it was filthy and didn't replace it he said they don't carry filters anymore. you would think for that price I would of gotten a filter. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY he did fix it though and I don't need a new furnance this place sucks
STAY CLEAR FROM THIS COMPANY! Wish I could give a negative star. Very very dishonest! Came and tried to prolong work hour by unnecessary job. The main guy is a big talker, and wastes your time by his life story and investment strategies, and you have to pay for the time he talks! A 30 minutes work eventually took them more than 3 hours to finish. They lied about a machine's price and charged very high price for bringing it to the house. Will never ever use them again. Take my advice, stay away from them!
THE WORST COMPANY EVER! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
On a Saturday, we experienced problems with our water heater, and we called the company to fix the issue. Plumber JOSEPH HERSEY arrived. He was very unhappy and complained that he had to work on a Saturday and kept throwing the F word and S word in every sentence that came out of his mouth.
Upon looking at the water heater, he said only one piece was broken and that he could fix it. After another 10 minutes, he said that he could no longer fix the heater and that we needed to buy a new water heater. When we asked him how much it would cost, he said he didn't know. Then he got out and came back with the new heater. We asked again how much the heater would cost, and again, he said he didn't know. After installation, he asked us to pay a whooping $2000!!! When we asked him why it would cost this much, he said, $2000 includes extra labor cost because he's working on a Saturday.
When we asked him more questions, he got angry. JOSEPH HERSEY POUNDED OUR KITCHEN TABLES LOUDLY AND KEPT SWEARING USING THE F AND S WORDS. HE THREATENED US TO PAY HIM. We then called Crescent management and asked them to give us a breakdown of the cost. The manager sounded very annoyed and didn't want to give us any information. She was rude on the phone and was yelling at us and again threatened us to pay!
We called Home Depot and asked about the water heater and the installation price. They quoted us $800 heater plus labor. Joseph also mentioned it's an ignition problem. In retrospect, we think it's very likely that we didn't need to replace the water heater. Joseph and Crescent Plumbing took advantage of our situation and just wanted to us to pay for extra.
So please, stay away from this company! Crescent Plumbing will send rude plumbers who will threaten you and cheat money out of you!!!
Is it possible to give no stars? I lost a lot of money because of these guys. First, they send over young kids on their own who don't know what they are doing and have to call the home office for help. In one encounter I had a ""whistling"" faucet and they told me it needed replacing. I said that I would go out and buy a new faucet that they could use. Somehow they talked me into a no-name faucet they had telling me it was guaranteed and charged me an arm and a leg to have it installed (I am not usually so gullible so there is something about plumbing issues ...) Less than a year later the faucet has no water pressure. I call them and they send someone over who tells me that the regulations have changed and now you get less water and when I called him on that ridiculous statement he told me that I needed a new faucet. When I showed him the bill of the faucet they installed LESS THAN A YEAR AGO and they told me they would not stand behind it. I checked on the internet and the faucet is a piece of crap. I have changed plumbers and highly recommend against using these guys.
Well, just wrapped up a few days of horror. Had asked Crescent plumbing to come in and install a bathtub Moen valve. The plumber nicked a pipe and water leaked onto the kitchen ceiling. This was right after my wife asked him whether she should shut off the water main and he said that he would do it later. Anyway, my wife/I stepped out for lunch and came back home to find that part of the kitchen ceiling had collapsed and there was a big hole. Called them up once and he recommended that I make an Insurance claim. But after getting estimates to fix it and making a claim found out that the deductible is high and there is no point in making a claim. So called up Crescent again. The person who handled the phone actually yelled at me and claimed that I was lying. And to top it, he actually slammed the phone in the middle of a sentence. That is terrible customer service!
I was utterly shocked by the way I was treated by a representative of this plumbing company. Our landlord set up a service call with them, and the experience I had with them was so surreal, I almost didn't believe it could have happened. A man driving an ad-wrapped sedan (who my landlord later identified as the OWNER of the company) arrived at my door this morning. He wasn't wearing any kind of indentification, and his car didn't say anything about plumbing - the ads were for a realty group. I smiled and opened the door and said, ""hello, how can I help you?"" He didn't identify himself or greet me in any semblance of professional courtesy. Instead he basically pushed his way past me through our door, then stopped at the open bathroom door and brusquely asked, ""Why am I here?"" I was already flustered by his manner, so I haltingly tried to explain that the issue is above the rotted ceiling panel. He didn't let me finish. Just said, ""I don't have a ladder,"" and then as I tried to respond that our landlords upstairs have one, he interrupted to say incredulously, "" I don't have time for this. I'm not dealing with you people."" He pushed his way out and as he went, he told me that the real reason he was leaving was that I had offended him. And how, you wonder? Because I put a note on our bell which said (verbatim) ""Plumbers: Please don't ring the bell. Knock lightly. (Baby is asleep). Thank you!!!!!!"" He yelled at me from his car that if I didn't want to ""turn off"" the plumber, my note shouldn't have had an 'S' - it's plumber singular, not plumbers with an 's'. I was so confused by the encounter that I didn't even realize he was serious. But apparently I had somehow broken a cardinal rule of etiquette in his book and deserved nothing but his utter contempt. I wouldn't believe my experience if I hadn't been the one it just happened to. Suffice to say I called our landlord and let him know what had just gone down and he promised that he would never call the company again and also let his other friends who are homeowners know to do the same. Regardless of what quality of work this company may or may not do, the unbelievably unprofessional and downright mean actions of their owner speaks volumes about who they really are and how much they deserve future business.
J S.Crescent Plumbing came out on a Sunday and helped us with a heat issue. Very professional and reliable, and they answered the phone right away. We will use them again if needed...
