WARNING !! DO NOT TRUST THIS CONTRACTOR. On October 13, 2020 we signed a contract with Bill at Cox Old Colony, to install a Mitsubishi ductless AC/heat system, 2 units and condenser. We gave him a check for cost of all the equipment, ""to purchase the units and condenser"". He told me he ordered it immediately same day. I waited, ...I waited,... I called,.... months went by. Still no system. So many promises to come but always a - NO SHOW. Phone call, after phone call. March 30,2021 after so many phone contacts he delivered only the 2 wall units and proceeded to ask for more money, thousands!!more to pay for the condenser. This was a BAIT AND SWITCH! He was demanding more money than even contracted for. He will not complete the job unless I pay another $4000. up front to ""purchase more equipment"". (we did not fall for this) DO NOT TRUST THIS CONTRACTOR. He has lots of complaints on BBB ( found out too late). He is Unresponsive, Unknowledgeable, Dishonest, and Deceptive. We lost all the money and no system and had to hire a new company. I would not recommend him and it looks like in other reviews customers had the same experiences as we did.
I woke up one morning to no heat or hot water, I called around to several plumbers but everyone was too busy. I stumbled on Cox's Old Colony's Heating website and I called and they responded right away which was good. Bill called me back at my work which was 20 minutes away from my home and we agreed to meet at 11:00. He called me at 9:30 to tell me that he was in my driveway. When we met I told him the boiler was 20 years old but was very reliable. When I told him what was going on he was not listening and immediately told me that the boiler was leaking gas and that the pilot was shot and that to get parts would take 2 to 3 weeks. He stopped checking the problem and said everything was gone and that the boiler needs to be replaced and that he could put in a new unit for $6500. When I started to question the cost he realized that I worked in the construction industry and immediately dropped his price then asked for $3000 and insisted that we will keep it a cash deal. When I said I wanted to get the unit running he said it was junk and would not be able to be fixed. I told him I was not in a position to make a decision on a new boiler and he became extremely pushy and condescending. I gave him the agreed upon $140.00 service fee which was a waste of money. He called me back a 1/2 hour later with an even better deal, when I said I was not interested and hung up on him he sent me a text telling me that the he didn't want my business which was fine with me.
The next day I found a very reputable company, who found a bad relay in the circulation control panel that really had nothing to do with the boiler. The technician checked the boiler and found nothing wrong accept a wire that was disconnected from the pilot ignition, no leaking gas either. I would not recommend Cox Old Colony Heating for any work, do not call him for service they are not at all professional.
They get 1 star for showing up when they said they would but that is where anything positive ends.
I have renovated and sold over 30 homes and commercial properties over the last 10 years. My go to HVAC contractor retired so I needed someone to look at my own home because one of the units was blowing warm air and the unit would not hold any gas.
My retired contractor told me that there was a leak in the coil in the air handler in the attic and that the coil needed to be replaced. (please note that my previous contractor had been in the attic on 3 occasions and had told me he could see the hole)
I told Bill Flannery at Cox's that I needed a new coil in the air handler and he insisted that I was wrong... he was full of bluster and was really arrogant and condescending.
I needed AC for the weekend because it was going to be hot so I asked him what he would suggest.
He told be I should replace all 3 condensers ($10,000). I said no because the leak was in the attic. He refused to go into the attic and instead used a ""Leak kit"" which he assured me would fix the hole. (even though he was too lazy to go into the attic) He charged me $250 for the leak Kit and filled up the empty Condenser and topped up one of the other condensers. He used what was left in the 30 lb tank of R22.
He charged me $750 for the gas and his labor! Thats a total of $1000!!!
He was at the house for less than an hour. I was angry and begrudgingly paid him because he assured me the leak was fixed.
All gas was gone within 2 hours and the unit was back to blowing warm air.
I tried to cancel the check the same afternoon but he had already been to the bank to cash it!
He is a rouge and a cheat.
Never use him or his company
Horror show!
Phoned on 9/25, asked if they serviced my area (they did), and made an appointment on 9/27 to have a rusting vent pipe replaced. Was told they charge $140 fee but it would be deducted off of the cost of the job. I agreed. The owner, Bill, phoned me to discuss the job and said he would speak with his sheet metal guy. I said I had just set the appointment for this Friday at 9 am and he said 'well, that's what it is then'.
Friday comes and no one showed up at 9am. No one showed up at 10am. No call either. I called later Friday and got an answering service. I was told someone would call me back. No call Friday, no call Saturday, no call Sunday, no call the following Monday morning. So I called again Monday and was told the owner would call me right back. You guessed it- no call whatsoever. Here it is more than a week later from when I made the appointment and no one ever got back to me. As this was a (original) rusted vent pipe I considered it urgent, though not an emergency. I feel I gave them plenty of time to apologize and make things right but they totally ignored me. What a profound lack of respect for a customer.
