My career in the trades began in 2006 when I was just 16. I completed four years of construction training, with a focus on plumbing during the last two.

I took part in SkillsUSA as a plumbing competitor in 2007 and 2008. SkillsUSA showcases talent in the trades, focusing on skill and ethical business practices. In 2007, I was recognized as the top plumber in California, leading to a national competition where I ranked 10th. In 2008, I returned to claim 1st place nationally, defeating all other states and earning gold for California in the plumbing category. The prize for winning nationally was a complete scholarship to WyoTech trade school, which I chose not to use, plus over $5,000 in plumbing tools. I immediately utilized those tools, starting my first job as a plumbing apprentice at 18.

Since my apprenticeship, I have been employed by four different plumbing companies across California, from San Luis Obispo's coast to Susanville's high desert, and now in beautiful Chico, my home for the past eight years. The diverse skills and experiences I’ve gathered in 17 years of plumbing work throughout our state are invaluable to me.
