Cota & Cota
Company Overview
I often get questions about our company's longevity, and my response is simple: we focus on offering the best service possible. The expertise of our trained technicians, delivery drivers, and customer service representatives is essential to our success. We guarantee to provide you with the exceptional service you expect and deserve. - Casey Cota, Owner
On May 1, 1941, Cota & Cota was established by Ken and Helen Cota, who ran the business from one of the earliest 24-hour gas stations in Vermont. Starting with two trucks, they delivered kerosene, which was commonly called ""range oil"" at the time. Customers paid eight cents per gallon. Their dedication and effort led to an expansion in 1953, when they opened an office at 4 Green St. in Bellows Falls, VT. Now, over 75 years and three generations later, Cota & Cota leads the heating industry. We stay updated with market developments and innovative technology, yet we always honor our roots and the principles on which we were built. We are proud of our roots in Vermont and the trust we have cultivated with our customers. We are dedicated to providing our clients with the finest service in the industry, without question.
For over 75 years, my family has supplied residents in Vermont and New Hampshire with a comprehensive range of quality petroleum products, exceptional service, and reliability.

During the extreme cold in Feb 2023, my furnace stopped working. After an hour wait on the phone, the oil company sent a technician who said the furnace was broken. The tenants had to move into a hotel while I desperately searched for someone to replace the furnace. I use Cota at our ludlow home and called the WRJ location to see if they could help. They were out within an hour and fixed the furnace. Needless to say, I switched over to Cota Oil to handle all my homes. Can't say enough good things. It's rare to find exceptional service. Thank you so so much.
Ps. Our ludlow house also had heat problems and Cota was out 11pm at night to fix that issue as well. I've been using Cota and Cota for about three years and they have saved me on a number of occasions: frozen pipes, burst toilet seal, etc.
I can't say enough good things about Cota and Cota. They have great communication - wonderful customer service. They show up when they say they will, and stay until the job is completed. No job is too bit or small for them. I like that they also have a plumber on staff for our plumbing needs. Will be a customer for a long time.
I waited 3 weeks for a furnace service appointment. The morning the Tec arrived I had just returned from a 6 day emergency hospital stay and was feeling very bad. The Tec knocked once and drove away. I contacted the local office who redirected him to return. As the Tec begins working I received a call from the office pulling the Tec from the job.
I had been a customer for over 10 years purchasing oil and natural gas and furnace services. Surprise! They were not longer going to service my furnace. Out of the blue some office dude decided that my account didn't qualify for furnace service. No outstanding balance, Past bills paid. Just randomly booted as a client.
They don't disclose their secret furnace service requirements but it seems being a consistent customer for over 10 years isn't one of them. They had a chance to inform me that they would take my money to purchase fuels but not offer furnace service when I made the appointment.
A Bully company.

Billy M.After being a 15 year, loyal, paying, out-of-town customer, Cota & Cota let my house run out of fuel a few times this winter! No one from Cota & Cota communicated with me about some new COD type service they converted my account to. On top of this they have been charging me everytime they had to come out and bleed my system due to it running out of fuel. I pay every bill without question and without realizing this seemed to be a sort of unintended (yet convenient to them) scam. This February, they let my house run out of fuel, again without any communication. I am now dealing with a completely frozen house with potentially very costly damages. Not one person I spoke to at their office was sympathetic to this devastating situation - they kept defending themselves and telling me to refer to the standard service notice that was mailed to me several months ago. No one seemed concerned that their lack of communication allowed my house to freeze. Finally, one of the owners, Casey Cota called me to apologize for his companies lack of communication and service. Sadly, after trusting them for over 15 years and paying over $65,000, I would not recommend Cota & Cota as an oil or service company.
