Andrew C.After our furnace started throwing up lots of red flags this winter (thankfully without completely crapping out) and after a series of service calls, I felt it was time for a furnace shopping expedition. I lean toward locally owned businesses rather than mega-chains and Cornel's Plumbing fit the bill. They were the second company to get my estimate request for a new gas furnace (with installation) and I was not disappointed; the service tech came out within a couple of days, and not only brought a pile of literature with several options for a new unit (at varying price points) but also did a full inspection of our existing furnace (showing me video of what he saw inside), giving me information about the mechanics and our home's footprint -- which was more than the last guy did. He was extremely friendly and super-informative and even checked to see if our 22-year old unit was pumping out elevated levels of carbon monoxide. (Relieved to find out, no.) The estimates were not the priciest nor were they the cheapest, but reasonable for sure, and the tech's vibe was comfortable without being pushy. Even though we did not end up going with Cornel's, they will definitely be on our list for future service calls.
We had a few sink drains that were backing up and we were very pleased with the service. The price seemed reasonable, and our technician (Jaden) was efficient and professional.
I read how for $49. to send some one out to evaluate it go for the job if you hired them.. So that's the catch the scam to hire them so your not out your $49.00..And say you know already what the problem is & how much the part costs & you can go get it & it take less than an hour job &
Cornel;s was the first to reply to a help request, so they got the job, and did a damn fine job,
We would like to report our experience with Cornel Plumbing, Heating and HVAC services in Portland, OR. During the January freeze our water main broke at meter. Cornel Plumbing was able to come out the next day and the repair was scheduled for the following week. They were recommended by Tualatin Valley Water Services who came out to determine that the leak was indeed on our side of the meter. We have no complaint with the work they did except for the fact that they did not cap off the old connector in our crawl space and had the installer not called that evening to ask us to check the crawl space for his lost wallet, we would have had a crawl space full of water. That is code and a gross oversight. We did call around to get other estimates as what they quoted was 2-3X what we thought it would be. We could not even get anyone to come look, as many people had frozen pipes during the storm.
When they came out to do the work, they were here for about 5 hours. The last time we had to replace our water main, it was $1270 and took about 3 days. I have seen other people mention that they paid $2600 for a plumber to replace a water main during this same time frame and also in our neighborhood. There were no obstructions, or complications to our job. It was a simple burst boring job. Very little digging was involved and we have easy access to our crawl space. We felt that we didn't have a choice to wait and at the time we thought that our homeowners insurance would cover part of it. It didn't. When we asked Cornel Plumbing for an itemized bill, they refused to issue one and stated that their estimates are basically done by a program of checking boxes for a job. So we have no idea if all the boxes checked were needed for our project. We feel extremely taken advantage of and would like you to have Cornel Plumbing on your radar in case other complaints come to you. They refused to consider or justify their bill of $8832.00 to us. Talking with others, we feel extremely gouged.
2nd time they came . Arrived on time and unclogged 2 drains quickly. Upfront pricing. Happy to support a local business.
The ice storm of Feb '24 left us with a broken sewer line in our crawl space. Again, Cornel Plumbing to the rescue! With everyone else having problems they were backed up. We waited for them because we trusted them! Not being able to use our toilets, laundry , showers or dishwasher presented big problems for two 74 yr olds. Finally we were able to get Dry Time restoration to do their thing. It was followed by Jaydon and Robert who were able to give us a temporary fix followed by Eddie's excavation team doing a permanent fix.
It is wonderful in this day and age to see people responsive to the people they serve. Our thanks to all the people at Cornel Plumbing!
Called in to fixed my leak of my garbage disposal and they did a great job. I highly recommend their service
This winter freeze created much havoc for many, including myself. I was not able to get my outside water dripping before the freeze hit, and when using a propane heater to warm my no power for a week house, it warmed up the frozen pipe enough to flood the garage from the multiple copper line breaks. I discovered it when water was dripping down my kitchen light, and when I opened the door to the garage I discovered 6"" of water and dropping ceiling panels!! It then took another hour for my neighbor ( the only one not at a hotel) to dig through a foot deep snowdrift to shut off the water at the main line at the street.
Cornels plumbing came out two days later, he was not able to cap it off at that time, but he was able to assist three other neighbors on the street.
When the water sodden Sheetrock and insulation was cleared they were able to isolate the leaks and get water going to the house. Investigated the damage, made the estimate, and came back replaced 100 ft of copper tubing with pet line, insulation, and shut off valves, to avoid this from happening during the next cold snap.
There were three different technicians that came out, everyone was very professional and courteous. The installer (Juan) took the time to explain the shut off / bleeder valves procedure, and cleaned up all the pipe and insulation debris, leaving the work area cleaner than when started.
I also am extremely satisfied with their office personnel keeping the communications and work timely.
We had a frozen/cracked water pipe during the latest freeze, and used Yelp for help. Cornel's responded first (on a weekend), and they replaced the pipe the next day. I honestly thought they were just coming out to do an estimate, but no--they fixed it on the spot. Other businesses either responded late, or couldn't help us for several days. Cornel's was there when we needed them. Great experience.
