My name is Chris Baker. Be very careful dealing with Cooper Mechanical. We had a problem with our pilot light on our hot water heater. The first technician came out and relit the pilot. Didn't do anything to fix the reason why the pilot went out, but we just went with it. Charged us $150 to relight the pilot. Pilot went out again a month later. The second tech came out, took a quick look at the heater (did not even get down and look into the heater or the ignition assembly) and said ""you need a new igniter assembly (on the side of the tank). It'll cost $850"". We said ok, we'll get back to you. After mulling it over I decided to have a steamfitter that I know take a look at it. He cleaned out the area inside by the pilot light and got it up and running in about 15 minutes. He also advised us that there was nothing wrong with the igniter, but if we were to buy one from a supply house it would be about $225. Fast forward about a week and we get a bill from Cooper for $99 for a service call. We protested the bill, arguing that the tech misdiagnosed the problem, tried to upsell us something that we didn't need, and in the end did not fix the problem, but to no avail. They said that they notified my wife of the fee, which they didn't. We requested a copy of the phone conversation twice, which they never provided. We ended up paying just to avoid my wife's credit score taking a hit. Bottom line: two techs came out, neither of them fixed the issue, but they tried to scam us out of $850, and when that didn't work they hit us for $99. Shame on you Cooper.

Absolutely the worst experience with an HVAC company by far. I work at a hotel and inherited a few HVAC systems that were shot and needed to be replaced. One of which had already been worked on, replaced, and worked on again by them. Now the system is shot again. May be two years old at the most. After probably close to a hundred emails back and forth with them, having them refusing to accept responsibility for their screw up, claiming they weren't aware of modifications that should have been made due to the long line sets we have in place when their techs mentioned the long line sets in multiple service tickets they filled out. Now they have gone silent. My GM and I called them out on all their lies and BS and they just stopped responding to our calls and emails. After reading other reviews on here it seems to be their way to not honor their work and tuck their tails between their legs and hide. So unprofessional and disrespectful. The only reason I gave one star was because you have to. I wouldn't give them any stars.

We kind of inherited Cooper when we moved into a house and saw their sticker on an old hot water heater that had to be replaced. We had them replace that unit and then had them out a second time to reroute some pipes and we've been very satisfied. The office is responsive and the guys they send out are polite, professional, and good at solving problems that arise.

Heater stopped working and called for service. Tech said it needed an inducer motor but would need to order part overnight. Next day got a call
that they sent wrong part and that they would not be able to get the part due to the age of the furnace, and they would have a problem installing anyway. Now recommended a new furnace. Wife and I debating on new furnance while freezing to death. Got a second opinion, and competitor found part local and installed same day. Spent 3 days in freezing
temperatures for no reason.

I had a whole house gas generator installed from Guy Cooper. I made the decision to install this after hurricane storms cause week long power outages. Now, when the power goes out, my generator automatically goes on and my whole house is powered by natural gas. Guy Cooper was able to coordinate the entire project from start to finish and provide honest guidance.

I had this company come out to service my AC unit as it was low on freon, they didnt refill the freon replaced a part that was not broken and also try to tell me that I needed a new unit. I am glad that I called a more honest company to double check. Dont use this company they will overcharge you and upsell work you dont need. Awful.

The lack of professionalism I got from the ""manager"" has still got me mad about 1 month after my plumbing issue. Had a clogged waste pipe far away from my house from tree roots. The manager came over to assess the situation and told me they had to dig a line from the house to the street in the front yard Monday morning. He gave me his card and personal number and told me to call him early that morning. I did as instructed and after the 4th call he picked up and said they were waiting for the zoning people to mark the underground pipes and wires before they could dig. 6 hours later, still no word so I called the zoning people. They told me Guy Cooper never contracted them. Numerous phones calls to the manager and still no answer. Finally I called and left a voicemail telling them I called zoning and they lied to me. They have still never returned my calls. Thankfully, another trustworthy company was able to solve the issue without digging up my whole yard like Cooper was going to do. These guys are horrible.

My well was not working, I had no water - plumbers came and replaced the pump. But they charged me close to $5000 to do it. They gave me a time and material invoice and the material charged was $2550. The labor $2330. I called around and spoke to other contractors. They said to replace a pump in a deep well like ours should cost around $2000 or at very top price $3000. The workers were nice guys, but why did it cost almost $5000 for this work? I asked for prices of the material and what their markup was and I was told they did not give out this information. If I am paying time and material prices, why can't I be given material costs and mark up information? What did they have to hide? I was forced to pay but will certainly not use this contractor ever again! $4870 to replace a bad pump in a well - not fair and reasonable in my opinion. I will call someone else.
