I have been using Cooper for nearly 20 years and for the first time disappointed but not all their fault. Rheem water heaters are distributed and sold by Cooper and also Rheem has chosen to sell their water heaters thru Home Depot. My water heater purchased thru Home Depot needed the Gas valve controller unit replaced. A as I did not have time to fix it myself called Cooper. Because I purchased this unit thru Home Depot there was a problem servicing it. They insisted that the unit is much lower quality than the one they sell. I'll address this below.

I knew if I wanted the warranty to cover the part I need to go directly to Rheem, either hire Cooper or put it in myself. In this case as I understand from service man that either no part was available or they did not know the correct part for the ECO model.

When I finally called Rheem to order the part I asked if I could upgrade the part to the professional model and was told they are the same part (the controller has been upgraded for both units - my water heater 2 years old).

The water heater from Home Depot starts with ECO (stands for economy-ECORHE50). Professional model RHE50. Reading the material on the two models there is for all intents no difference between the ""Professional"" RHE50( http://www.rheem.com/product/residential-gas-water-heaters-professional-prestige-series-high-efficiency-condensing-power-direct-vent ) and the ""Ecomomy"" ECORHE50 ( https://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/f2/f2ca34be-9ef9-4d3f-8007-8671a741f05d.pdf ). Do a side by side comparison. I can say it is unlikely a manufacturer would would actually do other than a label change. I worked for Stanley in the 1970's and we sold a good better best garage door openers. Good advertised with a 1/3 HP and the better and best models with a 1/2 hp. The reality, all 3 had a 1/2 hp motor.

I write only to say if you purchase a water heater from home Depot do not expect service from a Cooper. My disappointment was quite self induced. It is annoying that we have to watch politicians fight, now the plumbers and the retailers. It cost me $129 service call to clarify this lesson. Service man did say they would return and install the part for no additional service charge.

Don't bother making an appointment with these guys, they won't show up. They were over an hour late the first time, then called and said they weren't coming but they gave me a quote over the phone without seeing my house-very odd. The quote had a range of $1,200, so it was useless. The second time around they called and left a voicemail that was just 100% static, so when I called in the middle of my 2 hour window they said it was too late to come. I told them when I made the appointment to just show up and I'll be there, they agreed to do that and then couldn't be bothered to keep an appointment. I'm glad I learned what a terrible company this is, with god awful customer service, before I allowed them to do anything in my house. I know that they wouldn't have done a good job based on the fact they can't follow simple things like being on time and actually showing up.

I cannot stress enough how unpleasant it has been working with Cooper Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical. While there are too many specific complaints to list here, I have found errors and omissions in the billing process to be extremely frustrating and having three separate appointments, each requiring two hour window of time, to conduct a simple energy audit to be inappropriate. I chose to work with this company because of the cash back offered by Costco but I regret the choice despite of the cash back and do not plan on using this company again.

Had a new hot water heater installed. I felt like I was dealing with a car dealer the whole time. Their quoted price included a ""furnace tuneup"" that was essentially worthless as they were really only doing an inspection and no real maintenance of the unit. The day after the installation, I smelled a faint gas leak in the mechanical room and had to call them back to fix it. They came quickly and found and fixed the leak, but a competent company would have done a leak check when they completed the installation. I just realized today (more than 5 weeks later) that the building permit they said they would get never materialized. I have seen no evidence that they even purchased one (It was supposed to come in the mail) and there has been no city inspection of the installation. I was and am still quite disappointed with the company overall and will steer clear of them in the future

0 stars. Awful communication. Irresponsible customer service. Will not use. Plenty of other companies that will get the job done, communicate better and be responsible.

I will never use Cooper Heating and Cooling ever again. I have told everyone I know to not use them either. I bought a complete heating and cooling unit in 2013 with a 10 year warranty. When AC broke, they maintained it was a voltage problem. However, Excel metered the voltage for a week, and it was NOT a voltage problem. Cooper refused to do any maintenance over a two month period, even though we were under warranty for both labor and parts. On July 21st, we had to replace the AC unit for $3700 after Cooper had refused to any maintenance on the unit UNDER WARRANTY. We have asked to be reimbursed for the new unit, and we are being forced to take legal action in order to be reimbursed. I feel that as a female senior citizen, I was taken advantage of by this company.

I wrote a review that now seems to be missing, $765 for a motor exchange, asked for an itemized bill and said there wasn't one. I have a friend in Wyoming who owns his own company and told me max I should of paid was $475. Also, tried to sell me a new furnace. I will never use them again even though they installed my air conditioner.

I called Cooper last night for their 24 hr plumbing services for a leak & repair. The dispatcher said a technician would call me with an arrival time. I have never received a call from their technician or a call back from their dispatcher to ensure the technician called me. Very disappointed!!!!

I purchased a $17,000 A/C unit in May of 2016, installed by Cooper Heating and Cooling. There was an issue in June of 2017 where the unit would not power on. Cooper would not come to service the unit for 2 weeks. I contacted another A/C repair service in the area and they were onsite within 2 hours of my call that same day. The issue ended up being Cooper recommending the improper filter for the unit. I would give Copper 0 stars if i could and i will no longer do business with them.
