The customer service skills in the billing department is horrible. They are rude and have almost no patience and constantly say "" well I am trying to help you"" Helping me is taking care of a problem that they created on the first call. This is my 3rd call regarding a bill and no one has been able to assist me yet and when you ask for a supervisor you get "" well I am the supervisor"" BGE home you must be better and while I like working with the actual contractors that come out I HATE having to call in because I get people who do not know how to use superb phone etiquette.

Called to get an appointment for a free estimate for a new heat pump. It took three emails and 2 phone calls just to get to the right person. The information I provided on the email exchange was not passed along to the person who ended up calling to arrange an appointment, so we had to go through all of the phone number exchanges again... The person who called to arrange the appointment gave me an appointment 1.5 weeks away. They won't come out on Saturday for a free estimate, and they seem to be all booked up for early morning appointments. Since I work 9-5 and live 25 miles from work, coming home at 12:15 for a free estimate did not seem like a very conscientious thing to do. I'll update after I get as far as the free estimate, but so far, I would rather just go with one of the two estimates we already have.

I am very disappointed with BGE Home's sloppy service and poor customer service. On April 7th I had BGE Home perform their yearly inspection that was preformed by two men. The one gentleman did all the work and the other was supposedly checking him. However, he kept trying to get me to sign up for their service contract. My heat pump was only 2.5 years, so I figured it was too soon. Plus, the technicians assured me that everything was fine. June 29th, on one of the warmest days of the year, the A/C stopped blowing cold air. Of course BGE Home couldn't come out any time soon. I called another local company and he came out the next day. He found that the bolts for the refrigerant were loose, and deduced that the refrigerant leaked out when we put the heat on during a cold day in May. Seven pounds of refrigerant were released since then and I was out $530 to get our A/C working again. I tried to contact BGE Home directly the following week, but they didn't respond.

24 hour priority service when you spend a few hundred dollars just means they answer the phone ? Spent a few hundred dollars for a contract and now I have no ac.. oh we will be out in 4 days. It's 94 degrees. Thanks for the top service !

Today is 7/2/17, I am writing today because as of yesterday, I was told my AC unit was gone and needed to be replaced. The technician that came out on 7/1 did the usual after I told him my unit was no longer blowing colder air. He opened the outside unit, attached his sensors and replied, ""yes, the unit is bad and it must be leaking freon"". I told him the unit was not blowing cold air in May 2017 and a technician came out, cut wiring on the unit, spliced it together and said it was now blowing cold again. The technician indicated that my unit was a heat pump that had been converted (I don't know what that means) and sometimes the wiring gets screwed up. He mentioned something about cutting the wire going straight to the thermostat or maybe straight to the unit. I don't remember, I was just happy that he made it blow cold air during a hot season.

In early June, the unit stopped working again so when the tech came out this time, he simply said the unit was old, leaking freon somewhere and would probably need to be replaced because it appears that it was installed in 1995. He told me that I could spend upwards of $1200 to have someone come out and look for the leak and try to fix it that way.

I've been paying the $27.95 to BGE Home since 2009 and this is the response that I get. The technician was in and out of my house within 15 minutes. A few hours later someone called me and told me he could come by on Monday after noon to talk about my options.

Something is not right here. Why, since 2009, I have never had to have my wires cut and spliced and when that happens, a month later; my unit stops working again. I live alone and don't use the majority of my home. I am willing to give the employee coming on Monday, 7/3 the benefit of the doubt but I suspect all he will be trying to do is to sell me a new high priced unit.

I can't say BGE Home is a rip off yet but I am left with a feeling of discomfort after so many year of having no problems and then having wires cut, spliced and put back together.

I'm not going to take this one down lying. If you're reading this BGE Home, I expect you to look into my account because I am going to put your Sales technician on the spot when and IF he arrives on time tomorrow.

Amanda.. Don't try to sugar coat and lie for your company. It's a RIP OFF COMPANY. I spoke with multiple ""supervisors"" who only want to give their first name and no company ID#. When I would ask, then get very defensive and transfer me .You guys are like dealing with the MVA. For anyone who's reading this, call BGE Home and ask them serious questions with issues you have had in the past with them, and you'll see what I mean. And for people who never dealt with them and thinking about using them Remember MVA on a bad day but the difference is you chose to use them...

We have service contract with BGE Home to inspect and service the heating and air conditioning on an annual basis. They supposedly serviced the AC in the spring, now that we need it, it doesn't work and BGE will not service for 5 days because they are busy. So why have a contract when they can't provide service and have inept staff to inspect who clearly don't know what they are doing. The annual service contract is a rip off.

I had a new furnace and AC installed by BGE home. Essentially they abandoned the 120 volt power feed to the old furnace. They ran a new line for the new furnace, but never reattached the remaining electrical function from the furnace on. I had to have an electrician trace garage lights to find the problem which was caused by BGE home. The costs for repairs was over $200.00. Also, I had a gas leak behind the furnace AFTER the furnace was installed and they tried to tell me that they did not do it. This leak was not present prior to the installation of the new furnace. Sloppy work as far as I'm concerned. I had to have them come back twice; once for the thermostat and once for the dehumidifier not working. I should have stayed with Environmental services.

Just bought my 2nd full system (heat pump & air handler) from BGE Home, the first was for my former residence. The price, quality and service from BGE Home has always been great. It was a 2 man job and took 8 hours, but they finished my install in a day and it looked great and worked perfectly. I only received one competing bid which was thousands higher. I trust BGE Home and they have a great warranty on everything they sell.
I should also mention that our salesman was very friendly and came out the next day after our initial call. He gave us a few system options and went over the benefits of each, then came back the next day (Sunday) to finalize the contract.

BGE Home is NOT the BG&E company that most of us grew up with and relied on as a dependable local utility company and service provider. I purchased a one year contract at the rate of $45.00 a month which was attached to my utility bill. It was my understanding from the phone sales pitch that I was purchasing a contract that provided once a year pre-season check ups on my furnace as well as my air conditioner plus whole house coverage of appliances. I called yesterday to schedule the once a year inspection of my air conditioning system and was told that I used my one time inspection having the furnace looked at in October and I would have to pay for a pre-season check up of my air conditioner. I have paid 10 months on this policy or $450.00 and all I got was a 5 minute check up of my furnace in October. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and I have been misled and taken advantage of. I have been a homeowner here in Maryland and also in Texas and never once was I ever sold an annual policy on heating/ac that only allowed one inspection per year. Every other contractor I have dealt with sold policies that covered both a Spring and Fall inspection of my heating/ac units. I asked for the policy to be cancelled. I could use the remaining $90.00 due under this contract to hire another contractor to come out and do a Spring inspection of my central air. I was told someone would call back before 5 pm to confirm the cancellation and of course no one called me. Stay away from BGE Home. Do not be mislead in to thinking that this company is in any way affiliated with the former BG&E. They are a total rip off/scam artists.
