Growing up, I observed my father fix and restore various items in our household. If something was thrown away, he would salvage it and restore it to working condition. One memorable Christmas, he created a full Santa Claus scene with lights and set it atop our roof. To me, he was not only skilled but also a genius. I dreamed of emulating him, but being a girl in the 50s made that difficult. Consequently, I put my dreams on hold and focused on my college education. After graduating at the top of my high school class, I completed college and entered Corporate America. On weekends and during my free time, I practiced and learned a variety of trades. Over thirty years, I engaged in home improvement jobs of all types and ultimately created my own company—Concierge Renovations.
