Recognizing the opportunity this need presented, he established Comstock Plumbing in 1973 to cater to the residents and businesses of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. After years of dedication, Mr. Comstock chose to retire. In 1999, his son, Dale (Sonny) Comstock Jr., assumed control of the business. Sonny is now training his son, Dale (Chip) Comstock III, to carry on the family business. Chip is focused on maintaining the success of Comstock Plumbing, a well-known name in the area. The current owner of Comstock Plumbing is Dale Comstock Jr. This plumbing company was established by his father in 1973. Having been in plumbing since he was a boy, he has now taken on the role of company owner.

Kathleen M.Chip was very easy to work with and very professional. My plumbing issue in my basement was fixed quickly and for a very fair price. I would definitely recommend Comstock plumbing and will be using them again in the future.
I called on a Friday 4/24 to get an estimate done to replace a leaking water pressure pump, install a thermal expansion tank on a hot water heater Comstock had installed earlier and to fix a leaking sewer line. The earliest a visit could be done was the following Wednesday 4/29 between 8am and 10am. Comstock showed up after 10:30 am due to an emergency. Information was exchanged. I requested a same day cost estimate for a new booster pump. I was given a lukewarm promise I would get an estimate that following Friday 5/1 for the entire job. I received no cost estimate for just the pump on 4/29 nor a cost estimate that Friday 5/1. Monday came and went and I still had no estimate much less a cost for a new pump. I didn't receive even a phone call explaining the reason for the missing estimate. I called the company office Tuesday morning, 5/5 requesting Chip give me a call back to bring me up to date on the missing quote. Its 5:00 pm and no phone call.
To avoid any delays related to material shortages I called the recommended supplier for the pump needed and got a price quote. The cost was way too high for the quality of pump being offered. Hence I had to order the pump needed for the job via UPS. I purchased the needed thermal expansion tank and the lumber necessary to support the water pump above the basement floor. I've been ready for the job to be done since last Saturday. The only thing missing is a professional plumber.
Its going on eleven days now dealing with a leaking pressure pump. Like the water running out of my leaking pump, so has my patience.
Totally unprofessional and unacceptable.
No business is that busy to not make a phone call! Especially when you have ample office personnel. Delegate! The time taken to write a rebuttal/excuses to this review should have been used earlier making a phone call to keep this review from ever happening!
Where did Comstock's appreciation go for my previous business and customer loyalty I gave Comstock, a local business mind you, with more of my business instead of another plumber?
It is true when they say never make a customer stand in line to spend their money, otherwise they will take their money to someone else who does appreciate it.
To anyone who reads this review, make tracks not a phone call to Comstock Plumbing.
I've used Comstock Plumbing for the last 10 years, they just replaced my hot water heater. Very professional, competent and reasonable rates. All staff who've come to my house have been courteous and very helpful with providing answers to all my questions. Happy to do business with them.
Called and setup and appointment for Friday. Friday rolls around and I get a call, ""We rescheduled you because, uh, there were other people with emergencies, uh, call us back and, uh, reschedule.""
Yeah I have a better idea. I'll call a different company.
Debby E.I am updating my review to reflect the action taken after posting the original review. I was able to speak with Chip whose family owns the business. He apologized for the behavior of the team member I spoke to over the phone. He picked the water heater up the next day. The issues have been resolved. As I said in my original review, the professionals that have come to our home are great. It was a single team member from the office that was the problem. That team member no longer at the company. I sincerely appreciate their efforts to make things right. We will give this business another try in the future.
We have used Comstock twice now. Both times they scheduled us quickly, showed up on time, fixed our problem and didn't mind all of my questions. They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite.
Highly recommend them.
Completely Incompetent. They did not fix the drain problem and instead broke the fixture in the tub. Had to have another plumber come back and clean up their shoddy work.
Had a warranty repair done and the plumber that did the repair work did not apply glue to the PVC pipe before putting the wall cover over it, cause flooding in my finished basement. When my insurance company attempted to contact them, they would not return any calls to attempt to resolve the matter.
Comstock advertises 24 hour service. This should change to 24 hour service ""if we feel like it"".
I called them for a well pump problem on a Sunday afternoon as we had no water. I got the answering service and I am sure they notified Comstock. I did not even receive a phone call until the next morning.
I told the clueless woman from Comstock that I called the day before for 24 hour emergency service and she completely sidestepped my comment with ""please call us if you have any other issues"". Right!
So just know if you need emergency plumbing service you should think twice or understand that Comstock 24 hour emergency service means if they feel like it. I mean they could have at least called me even if they couldn't make a service call. Lazy and unprofessional. I suppose they make a living in spite of themselves.
They used to be good but recent experiences & $900 plus no problem solved nor any solutions or direction. Will not use again
