Company Overview

For over 60 years, we have operated in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning sector. Throughout this time, we have mastered tasks that other firms lack the expertise to handle. We maintain comprehensive licensing, bonding, and insurance coverage.

Our presence in Utah dates back to the 1950s. We began with simple goals and have grown into a comprehensive national contractor in Mechanical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Electrical, Controls, and HVAC, including General Contracting. We established our Salt Lake City office in the mid-1990s, where our team is committed to pioneering energy efficiency projects. We have a workforce of almost 100 experts in Utah. We also have a St. George office to serve our customers in Southern Utah.

Our Vision and Values have been instrumental in establishing us as a reliable and respected organization nationwide.

When we founded Comfort Systems USA, our vision was ambitious: To become the foremost provider of HVAC and mechanical system installations and services across the country. When we went public in June 1997, we operated 12 companies and generated around $167 million in revenue. Today, we install, maintain, repair, and replace systems across 37 operating units with 128 locations in 114 cities nationwide, achieving revenues over $2.18 billion. Two primary factors have driven this growth: First, our commitment to innovation and technology enables us to offer the best solutions to clients like the State of Utah. Our mission focuses on delivering high-value HVAC and mechanical systems installation and service, mainly in the mid-market commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors, while ensuring the welfare of our customers, employees, and the environment.

Exceptional fast same day service. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable taking the time to explain to us what the problem was with our furnace while answering each question thoroughly. Fixed the problem within the hour. Once again we have a warm house. Will definitely be using Comfort Systems again.

We purchased a new air conditioner through Comfort Systems and had a great experience. They gave us the best price and the best warranty we could find. Everyone from the account executive to the installer was completely thorough and professional. And they got the AC unit installed within a week. They even loaned us a portable AC unit to help us keep the house cool until they could get the permanent unit installed.

This company doesn't care about customer service. I had a technician come out and they replaced a bad dual capacitor. The system ran fine for a few weeks but my house just kept getting more warm. Upon looking at a job done well, I found grass clippings, spider webs and dirt in the coils? Everyone knows that your A/C won't run efficiently if you don't have it cleaned out! This business stated,""if you'd like maintenance on your A/C, that is a separate call, we just came out to diagnose the problem.""
Please just clean it and get it running while you're here and charge me? I would not refer anyone to this company. Dispatch people aren't friendly; heads up management.

1 star is too generous. This is the first time I have ever left a negative review for any company in my life. But Comfort Systems dishonestly and complete lack of integrity compelled me to leave this review.
My elderly mother was having problems with her ac/furnace. I arranged for them to help my mom and that I would pay the $55 dollar diagnostic fee. I offered to pay then but they said no, we will get it from after. They said it needed a new board and that once the board was fixed it might need a new blower. I explained that my mom was on a fixed income and couldn't spend more than $600. It came to $700 so I assumed the $55 diagnostic fee was included int that amount since it was $100 over what we told him our cap was.
A couple days went by and my mothers house still wasn't cooling properly. We called them and they sent out a different technician, somehow unaware of the previous work done, who informed us that the coils were so dirty, the whole unit needed to be replaced.
I called to say ""why would you tell us it could be fixed and take $700 from us when it was obvious to your 2nd technician that the whole unit needed to be replaced?"" We could have used that money toward a new unit but instead it was a complete waste. It took them weeks to get back to me with an absurd answer, ""the 2nd technician was wrong and for an additional couple hundred dollars we can clean the coils.""
TOTAL SCAMSTERS taking advantage of elderly people. They then had the audacity to try to collect $55 for the original diagnostic fee.
I will shout this injustice from every figurative rooftop that I can to help save other people from their disgraceful, predatory behavior!

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews here. I've partnered with Comfort Systems for years and have always had great experiences. The quality of their field employees and craftsmanship is very high and I recommend them to people regularly.

Comfort Systems really seems to be struggling as a company. Although our experience with them started out okay, it ended horribly. I cannot recommend Comfort Systems.

Here's my story...

We got a bid from them to install two air conditioning condensers in a large new home we had purchased. They offered a competitive bid (but not the lowest one) and, by all accounts, did an excellent job on the installation. The total price was around $7000, all included.

The system then immediately stopped functioning and we called them. They promptly sent a tech and he refilled the coolant, and told us it had leaked out. No problems so far.

Again, about a week later, the condensers weren't working and we called. Again, they sent a tech. This time, he told us there appeared to be a leak in the portion of the system that Comfort Systems had not installed. However, the tech told me he understood we couldn't have known that, and that he wouldn't charge us for the visit. I explained we had purchased a new home warranty and would likely file a claim with the warranty provider. The tech said he understood, but that if we wanted them to fix the problem, they would, and we should let them know. This was in mid-July 2015.

We filed a home warranty claim and the problem was fixed at no cost under the warranty. Several people from Comfort Systems nicely followed up in August and again in September to ensure the system was working, and we explained that the problem had been fixed by the home warranty service guy, and that the system was operating well. We thought everything was fine and moved on with our lives. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

In December 2016, five months after the service visit, we were contacted by Comfort Systems and sent a bill for $358 for the service visit in mid-July 2015. I immediately called the company and spoke to the accounts payable person, explaining that the tech had told us that there wouldn't be a charge. I also explained that I had never in my life received an invoice five months after a service call. She agreed to investigate. She got back to me and denied that the tech had told us there would be no charge for the service visit. They offered to discount the charges. I told them a discount wasn't appropriate because we had been told there would be NO charge. She explained that ""there had been a lot of turn-over"" lately at the company. I told her I didn't think it was fair to send us an invoice five months after a service visit, especially when we had been told there would be no charge, and when we had spent nearly $7000 with the company.

This matter bumped around Comfort Systems for several more months. They frequently wouldn't return my calls and when I tried to speak to a manager, I was always told he wasn't available. Different people would contact us and tell us different things. Periodically they would call us and ask for payment and I would tell them there is no obligation for us to pay. Again, I asked to speak to a manager. Eventually, he called. I promptly returned his call and left a message in voicemail. It was never returned. That was in January. Again, I assumed they had dropped the matter. I was wrong.
In March 2016, they sent us a ""final notice"" invoice, with the previously offered discount now removed, and demanded that I call them immediately. I've now spent hours on this idiotic issue.

I thought the matter had been forgotten, but then they started bothering me again to pay for the visit. If I asked a question, it would sometimes take weeks for their administrative staff to get back to me. They said they'd email me an invoice, but then never did. Then they started calling and telling me they didn't have my correct mailing address. I reminded them that they had my email and that they'd told me they would email me the invoice. Eventually, they emailed me an invoice - in late May - nine months after their service visit. This time they discounted it to $299.

Because I'm simply fed up with this whole stupid episode, I'm just going to pay them the money for a visit they told us we wouldn't need to pay for. I cannot recommend Comfort Systems in any way. This has been a horrible experience, and from the looks of the other reviews out there, it appears my experience with the company has not been unique. They do decent work, but their management and administrative functions are seriously messed up. Avoid this company.

My A/C went out, and after a bit of DIY diagnosis, I determined that it was a bad start/run capacitor, so, as opposed to ordering one online, I called Comfort Systems because they advertised themselves as a ""DIY Parts Supplier"" - however - I wasn't able to talk to their parts guy (busy) so I left a message. After waiting for an hour for a call-back, I went ahead and called and confirmed that they had a walk-in parts counter and drove over there. They *did* have a replacement (equivalent) part, but as I'm familiar with prices on those capacitors and this brand in particular, I was stunned to see that their profit margin was over 100%. I guess if you *really* need a part and they have it, you could suck it up and take the gouging, but from now on I'll be shopping for parts and service elsewhere. I truly don't know how they've managed to win awards.

My A/C went out on Friday, July 3rd just before the long weekend. I was informed that it would be time-and-a-half rates because of the holiday but I considered it worth it to get the A/C back on. The tech showed up quickly, but after an hour of ""diagnosis"", could not fix the problem. Another tech showed up on Monday and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. I got charged for both visits but I feel I was taken advantage of. If the first technician had been as competent as the 2nd one, I would have only paid for 1 repair visit, not two, and we wouldn't have had to suffer a long, hot weekend. My inquiry about the billing only produced their justification for why they charged me what they did, but was lacking in responsiveness to my dissatisfaction about the first, unproductive repair call that they charged me for. They did, however, hit me up about signing up for annual service! Umm, no. I'll be looking elsewhere next time.

This company runs the air and lights for the company I work for. They deliver horrible customer service and you have to wait 25 minutes on the phone to get a hold of a representative when needed. My company will be looking elsewhere for this service once the contract is up.

Installation Manager, Jake failed to show for appointment. Estimate manager Troy failed to show for appointment. He did not call, I called a second time and voicemail was full. Wasted two half days of work getting time off then they stand me up. I would never attempt to use them again.

Use someone else.
