There is a reason this business is for sale.

I was sent a bill 10 months after the work was completed for almost double the price I was quoted by the plumber, Tom Benish. I have nothing but great things to say about Tom. Tom told me it would be 3 to 4 hours at most for this work. I get a bill 10 months later, yes 10 months later, for 9 hours of work that included charges for work that was never even done.

Long story short, Dave Stone, the owner, took me to court because I refused to pay the overpriced bill. While in court Dave all of a sudden was no longer knowledgeable of how long it should take to install a wax ring on a toilet, ice maker line and a garbage disposal. To make sure I was not incorrect, I reached out to three other plumbers and all three said 3 hour 4 at most was correct for this job. Yet, I get charged for 9 hours for this work. When I asked Dave do you really think 9 hours is fair to install a wax ring on a toilet, ice maker line and a garbage disposal his reply was one of mumbles and rambling. Dave took the spineless sleazy path and refused to answer the question only by replying with unrecognizable mumblings in front of the judge. Again, there is a reason Collins and Hying - D.B.A. DS Mechanical is up for sale, you can only lie and cheat for so long before it catches up to you. If you choose to purchase this business or get work done by them you have been informed of my experiences.

I have had three encounters with Collins and Hying. The first was to install a mini-split cooling/heating system at the farm apartment. I asked about minimum temperature rating, and the president, David Stone responded in an email:

Most important element is having a dealer and distributor to back you up.

So, I purchased the unit and had them install. During the installation they install the power directly through a well established wildflower bed, when all they had to do was veer 12 inches to the left. Wow, can't anyone think???

Thankful the cooling unit worked great. In winter 2013 I got to test out the ""Full on winter"" heating capability. Guess what, the unit would never turn on if the air temperature was below 20F. That does not sound like ""full on winter"" in Wisconsin to me!! Guess what, the pipes burst. So I called them out to help. I had to plow a 1/2 mile drive every time they need to come. They would come out for several hours and do a few things then leave. This continued to occur over a 3-4 week period. Finally, I was so fed up with them I called them and told them their services were no longer needed.

Worst experience I have had with a professional business in my life.

I would have given them a ""Zero"" star if that was an option!!!
