I had a water leak in my kitchen. I discovered on Saturday evening, I shut off all the water to the house to limit the damage to my hardwood flooring in the kitchen.
I called a few plumbers on Sunday morning to get a quote, unfortunately for me, the only one that called back was Colepepper Plumbing.
They claim to have reasonable rates! I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income. The plumber showed up, looked for the leak, first, he said it was a fitting that failed underneath the house. He crawled back under the house, I turned on the water, no leak!
He came up as he thought the plumbing job would be difficult! He found the leak inside a wall.
This is where the fun began! He claimed, he could not cut away the cabinet and had to call another Company out! They showed up around a half hour later. By the way Colepepper Plumbing, charged me $1200.00, not a misprint! Twelve hundred dollars for less than 3 hours work, yes, it was a Sunday , I talked with a friend, an attorney. He said when he came back in a different life, he would be a plumber, he doesn't even charge that rate!!!
End of story, before I knew it, this company had the cabinet bottom torn out, part of the leak was repaired. I had to call them back as there was another leak, a leaky faucet that the dry out company didn't plug the open valve going to the dishwasher, which they removed!
I would find out later, these Companies work closely together to get work.
First the plumber, then he calls this other team in, before you know it, they have your kitchen all torn up!
Then they say, they have a construction Company that they refer work to.
The Estimator came out, we talked about the issue, by his own admission, these three companies work with each other and are all connected by some business agreement!
PLEASE, PLEASE, CONSIDER USING ANOTHER PLUMBING COMPANY AND AVOID HAPPENING TO YOU WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US! They damaged a door on a brand new Fisher Paykel dish drawer, has a top and bottom drawer, stainless steel. Had NO blemishes,
It does now!
The owner of that company is more reputable than Colepepper plumbing, he is ordering a new door for the dish drawer.

I have used Colepepper and have had excellent service. They have cleaned drains, found lost wedding rings, replaced a toilet, and today I took advantage of a drain cleaning special they are running. Every plumbing expert they have sent (three now over the years) has been pleasant and professional, knowledgeable, and extremely fair, offering best options and alternatives. I highly recommend them.

Price Gouging

Be wary of price quotes. Received three quotes yesterday for minor work. I had a leak from my toilet tank, that required $40 worth of parts and less than an hour worth of work, priced at $750. I also asked for a price quote on two shower kits (and installation), approximately $200 for each kit, and another 2 hours of work, priced at $3700. In total, $440 worth of parts, and 3 hours of work, priced at $4400! And there were 2 other more expensive options!

Love this company! Amam plumbing blew us off and missed their scheduled appt. bet. 5-6 pm. Called Colepepper and they were out at 8am the next morning. Prompt and friendly service with reasonable prices! Will definitely call them for any and all my plumbing needs.

I wish I could write a good review, Mitch seems like a nice guy. Unfortunately, I think, but cannot prove, my mother-in-law was taken advantage of. She was charged $8900 to hydrojet her system and install two clean out ports in front of her single story 1400 sqft two bathroom house. It was suppose to fix her clogged drains. it did for a month or so. She lives alone so there is not much use of the drainage system. The house is about 50 years old. Mitch came back with a drain camera and said the pipes had collapsed. He showed me, I'm not a plumber, but they didn't appear collapsed to me. He quoted $60,000, (not including the repairs to the floor, walls, etc. after the pipe was replaced) to dig up and replace the straight pipe (50-60 feet) from the street to the rear bathroom plus reroute the kitchen drain around the outside of the house to the front yard. We could actually knock down the house and rebuild a new one for about $250K. I'm disappointed because we thought we had a fix to her plumbing problem, but really wasted $8900. An insurance adjuster came later and was amazed at the cost. He had never seen a cost this high.

Mitch came out, with whom I believe was his son, but very well could have just been an apprentice. Either way, the quote for a replacement water heater was met with my sarcastic laughter and a ""Thanks! I'll keep your quote in mind!""

Insane for a replacement water heater. Did not use and received much more reasonable quotes elsewhere; several hundred dollars less.

It's a water heater replacement, it's not rocket science.

Very satisfied with the results of their installation of a new water heater, water filter, and new heater and air conditioner (HVAC) in my residence. Quick response (same day service). They always kept me current on any charges. Their installation costs were reasonable. You get ten year free service as an added bonus. I highly recommend Colepepper Plumbing and would use them again.

It was raining. I had a leak. I called the plumber that I usually use. Of course, on a rainy day, they are booked solid. I called 3 other companies but no one could come for 48 hours.

Colepepper was the only company available.

The work was done by the next day. Their work was fine. The leak was fixed. That's not the problem. The problem was a shelf was pulled out of my wall. I constantly asked the technician if anything was needed to be moved. Nothing was said. Now I have 8 quarter inch sized holes in my drywall.

I called to ask what happened. I was yelled at. I asked to speak to someone else, but the technician on the phone claims to be the owner. Now I not only had to pay $600 for a pipe to be snaked, but I have to pay to fix drywall that had nothing to do with the problem.

I don't understand. I'm left confused.

I found the company on the internet. They were open 24 hours, were close by and scheduled an appointment that fit. Mitch was supposed to come out. Someone else came, quoting a price for the part at over 300% retail. A garbage disposal should not cost $900 for the part alone. Yes, that was the price quoted. My disposal, an Insinkerator 3/4 HP, costs $209 at Home Depot today.

I told him I would pay for his fee, and he could go. No sale. He asked what would I be willing to pay? I gave him a number based on what Home Depot would charge for installation plus padding. He accepted and installed my disposal. I hope it works. I hope it doesn't die on me. I won't call them again. I'd buy my own disposal and have someone else install it.

At some point, this business will fail based on their business model. Luckily, the employees with this skill-set can go elsewhere. If I had a word to describe this whole experience - Predatory. I treated the installer nicely. Not one to shoot a messenger. I am writing this while my disposal is being installed. He's almost done - don't worry Mr. Colepepper, the check will clear. A lot of profit for 30 minutes of work. I think you take more from desperate homeowners. Maybe I should have been a plumber.
