Our Rinnai tankless water heater finally gave up the ghost this Christmas eve. I knew this was going to happen, it had been acting up for a while, I just wished it could have picked a more convenient time.
I called a plumber I've used before but there was no answer. So I called Coastline since they are recommended by Rinnai and talked to Randy. It was immediately clear that Randy was an expert on Rinnai heaters. We decided on a new unit and Randy showed up with it exactly when he said.
In between our first call and installation Randy and I communicated via text to confirm details and arrangements therefore no surprises on install day. It all went in quickly and perfectly, Randy even corrected some of the shoddy work from the original Rinnai installation. Randy thoroughly explained what he was going to do and took the time to help me understand. After completion he even coached me on how to get a rebate from the Gas Co.
Honest, dependable, conscientious, knowledgeable and friendly are the words I'd use to describe Randy and Coastline.

My advice is to check on line for the item you need prior to buying from this store. May over charge on some items.
just saying.

Like Cindy K below, I'm glad I didn't go any further than a phone conversation with this guy. He was impatient, rude, needs a lesson in basic customer service, and sounds like he fits the mold for the typical ""contractor"" persona. Basically, he won't waste his time (and he was very explicit about this) on being helpful unless you are going to give him your business. He's that kind of contractor. Buyer beware!

I had just flushed my Rannai tankless water heater and only had half the normal water pressure. I called several system technicians, on Christmas day. Coastline Plumbing was the only one who excepted my call. The owner, Randy, gave me great advice along with several do it yourself repair options. After trying to do it my self, and I'm very handy, I set up an appointment with Randy. He showed up right on time, was very personable and professional.

Thinking I had somehow damaged the unit, we discussed replacement options. Then he conducted an hour long systematic battery of tests, wherein he located my problem. When I turned off the water line I snapped the inner valve, placing it in the half shut position. Although the handle turned the required 90%, the inner valve never moved. I would never have found that problem.

He subsequently replaced both valves and corrected several additional issues from the original installer. He did a great job, for a great price. I highly recommend Randy and will call him first next time.

This guy, randy, will take your money and run. He will promise you the moon but when the problem is not actually fixed, you will never find him. He talks a big talk but does not fulfill his obligation. Run, don't walk, away from this plumber.

Recently had a tankless water heater installed. From start to finish, plumber/owner Randy Frey was a refreshing change from other workmen: he was cheerful, helpful, a man of his word.

While calling around for estimates, I was surprised that Randy took the time to answer all my questions in detail. (Another plumber would answer my questions only when he showed up to do the written estimate, for which he charged $45.) I called five plumbers and chose two to come to give me estimates.

The other plumber (who was highly recommended on the water heater dealer's web site) quoted $2400 on the phone but his written estimate jumped to $3200. Randy's initial quote of $2600 stayed the same when he showed up for the FREE estimate. We shook on it (no written estimate, to my hubby's consternation) and he showed up promptly two days later to do the job.

Without my having to ask, Randy extended the hose used to drain my 50-gallon water heater so that I could more easily use the water to wash my garbage cans. It did not bother him that I watched while he worked. He even explained things along the way, such as why he used a crimper tool instead of soldering. When he encountered an unexpected problem in the water lines, he rectified the situation without complaining or charging extra!

At the end of the job, he cleaned up the site and even replaced the drywall that he had carefully removed earlier. The other plumber gave me the number of the drywall repair guy he uses so I could get a quote!

I'm thrilled to have found a straight-talking, trustworthy plumber who does excellent work. A rare find indeed.
