We had the water district out to measure our water pressure. The pressure regulator had been installed many years ago, and we weren't sure if it was still working. Turns out the pressure was 88, way too high for the pipes. On a recommendation I immediately called Coastline Plumbing. I was asked to email photos of our present regulator, which I did, and was informed that the cost would be between $225 and $375. An appointment was set up for the following morning. The plumber showed up on time. In 15 minutes the old regulator was taken off and a replacement installed - at a charge of $225. The plumber could have told us he needed to replace fitting, etc. resulting in a higher cost. and we would have been none the wiser. We appreciated the honesty of the plumber and Coastline. Plus he was efficient, personable, and smelled nice. Good job!!

Great experience from beginning to end. Dan spent time advising me on the phone, reviewing pictures, and providing an accurate estimate. Jay and Todd installed a new water heater. They arrived on-time, were professional and cheerful, and completed the work at the estimated cost. They also advised me how to economically address water pressure issues in my house, before making me commit to more work. Great work!

The water district changed my meter and 12 hours later my whole-house filter sprung a really bad leak which required me to turn off the water supply to my house. Of course this happened at 11pm on Friday night.

On Saturday I sent emails to a couple of plumbers with a basic description of what what going on. Dan replied to me asking for some pics so he could give a ballpark. PRO TIP: if you go down to your garage to take pics make sure you're dressed so in case you accidentally lock yourself out of your house you don't look quite so scary for when you have to call a locksmith! If you do have to call one I can't recommend OC Locksmith enough (http://www.yelp.com/biz/o-c-locksmith-phil-and-dave-orange)!

Dan was able to give me an idea via email of cost to remove the filter and water softener which I really appreciated. He was very proactive in getting an appointment set up. With family in town I needed an appointment on Tuesday (3.5 days without water - fun times!).

Dan sent out Jay Kalfas to do the work. After some administrative confusion about which city I live in (in the super-ritzy part of Newport is a community with my same street name... my condo is probably 12% the size of the garages in that neighborhood!).

Jay was very communicative, listed patiently to my explanation, was professional, thorough and cheerful. After he fixed the problem he discovered that the psi was dangerously high (thanks MNWD for the cascade of issues!) so the PRV needed to be replaced. Hey, what else was I going to do with that money?!

I didn't ask him to but Jay proactively sent me pics of both the before and after psi ratings. Hopefully those and his written explanation of the problem will help me get some reimbursement from Moulton Niguel. I offhandedly asked him to keep them on his phone in case I didn't get them. Imagine my surprise when a few hours after he left, Jay checked in to confirm that I did receive them.

Unrelated to the plumbing, I noticed black soot on the lower outlet where the softener had been plugged in to. Alarmed, I asked Jay about it. He said he had seen it too and it looked like it was a result of a fire but since there obviously hadn't been one then possibly smoke.

He agreed that it was very concerning. Before he left I remarked that I would take the plumbing problem over a fire any day. He reassured me that the electrical work looked like it was done well but then took the initiative to go to my panel and turn off that particular breaker. I will be able to sleep better thanks to Jay taking the moment to do that and I really, really appreciated that he did.

I was very pleased with the customer service of both Jay and Dan at Coastline.

I called yesterday and had Jay Kalfas out here today to fix a clogged toilet. He called ahead as requested, took care of a clogged toilet, cleaned up after himself (and took off his shoes!) and even cut off a rusted toilet seat lid for me. Very pleasant (with a nice Georgia accent), professional, funny, efficient and did the job at a reasonable price. Recommend without any reservation.

These guys need to get their act together. They are inefficiently staffed, late in their responses, and no one seems to talk to each other, so the story is always different depending on who you talk to.

Note: Their visit to your house to write an estimate is not free, it's $45. Also, their prices aren't very competitive.

I had originally scheduled my appointment for Friday afternoon and tech came at that time. However, instead of actually getting my water softener installation done that day, I was told that they were completely backed up and that he would have to do it at another time. Fine, that's ok... He also said that the estimate would be free since they couldn't do it that day. He also said he would send me a quote at around 5 PM, when he got back to the office...

Fast forward to Monday... (3 days later) I had to call and leave a voicemail ASKING for the quote because nothing ever came in... when I received the quote, my jaw dropped. $750 for a water softener installation! Ridiculous. Then they sent me an invoice for the trip out to my house. I called immediately and told them that the tech said the estimate would be free since he couldn't do the service that day. The customer service rep said ok and deleted it... 5 hours later, the owner emails me saying that trip wasn't free but that he'd let it go, as if he's doing me a favor. If hadn't called to ask for the quote, they would have never reached out. And he's doing me the favor?! And how come the tech isn't responding? Why are middle people who weren't even there responding?

Make sure you record everything you discuss with guys, you can't trust them.

Check out several businesses in the area with good reviews and decided to go with Coastline Plumbing because of their reviews and reasonable prices. Had a leak in one of my rental coming from the wall in my master bathroom. Dave the plumber that came out, he found the issue and fixed the problem promptly. I would definitely use these guys again. Thanks Dave!

This time it was personal. The garbage disposal had won and I stood listless unsure whether to cry or sob. Now a more prideful man may make that anxious sojourn to be ignored, or worse patronized, at one of the local big boxes, then to return home to bust up his only worthy asset even more. Not this man. I'm calling in the pros. Coastline Plumbing is a professional outfit. From the time I placed the call to the signing of the invoice I felt like I was being treated with respect. They sent a magical man who called himself Jay Kalfas. This man's dense beard reeked of plumbing wisdom and attested to his years of enthusiastically battling sinks, pipes, leaks, and standing water. He was prompt, assessed the problem in moments, quoted a fair price, joked with my infant daughter, and was a genuine all-around good guy. More importantly, he removed the garbage disposal of my nightmares in no time and replaced it with a beautiful new model I will dream of for years to come!

I called Coastline to fix my kitchen faucet. Dan worked with me to arranged an appointment that would work with my schedule even though they were pretty booked. On the day of my appointment, Jay K. called prior to the appointment time to let me know he was on his way. Jay arrived on time (may be early too). He even took off his shoes without me asking. Jay was very professional and friendly. In addition to fixing the kitchen faucet, he saw that my supply line under the sink was slowly leaking and corroded. He changed it out and even showed me why it was leaking. Then he checked to make sure the water pressure going into the house was not too high. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and the work done. I would recommend the company.

My shower knob broke and the water was coming out in a heavy stream. Called another plumber and they gave me an estimate of $1250. I came to Yelp and found Coastline. Emailed that night and was surprised to get an email reply within minutes. After seeing a photo, I was give four possible options and costs...ALL were below the original estimate. David from Coastline came and completed the job quickly and for only $225. I am VERY impressed with the entire experience! It's nice to know of a plumber I can trust!
