What an amazing company! Last night, we noticed that our A/C unit was leaking in our basement, and we immediately began looking for a heating & cooling repair company. We found CMC at around 9:30pm, and we submitted a service request online hoping we'd hear back from them first thing in the morning (given that the weather said it was going to be in in the 90s temperature wise the next day). Within 15-20 minutes, we received a call from Kathy indicating that they had received our service request and they wanted to set up a service time for the next morning for us. She was super nice and super helpful in getting us all scheduled. The next morning, Daniel showed up right on time, and he quickly located the problem (a clogged pipe). He also noticed that one of our vents wasn't sealed properly and we were loosing a lot of cold air in the basement. He quickly and efficiently repaired the problem, including fixing the vent, and showed us a few tips to keep our A/C unit in the best condition! I can't say enough good things about the experience we had. A leak is always scary because it could be a huge problem and finding someone to fix it correctly and inexpensively can be nearly impossible. We have a variety of additional plumbing and heating/cooling projects we've been meaning to get to (but haven't actually bit the bullet in hiring someone), and now I have a go-to company for all future projects! Customer for life!
My husband and I used CMC for a few years and never had a problem until recently, but now I will never call them again. We were having an intermittent furnace problem where, for example, the thermostat was set at 70, but we would wake up in the night and it was 64 degrees in the house and the heat hadn't kicked on. If you manually reset the furnace, then it would come on and heat up the house. We called CMC, and they sent a technician. The tech told us the problem was the result of a dirty furnace filter (even though the filter was only about a month old) and to replace it on our own. They charged us $137 for this 45 minute service call (no parts were replaced or anything). We bought a new filter, but a week later we were having the same problem. I called CMC to see if they could send a technician to look at it again and said I did not want to pay for another $100+ service call (but would pay for any required parts) since they did not get it right the first time. The receptionist told me a tech would call me back. No one ever called me back. I called the receptionist back a couple of times, but she continued to tell me a tech would contact me, which never happened (this was weeks ago). I ended up calling another company who showed up the same afternoon, determined that the problem was a faulty gas valve, and we have had no problems since.
Jack I.Worst plumbing company I've ever dealt with the first time they were at my house they told me they use silicone on my kitchen sink I've been a plumber for 5 years you use plumbers putty! The second time they came to do a floor break for a floor drain said they would plastic everything off and they put a piece up that had a big loop at the top then proceeded to use a concrete saw and dusted out my house needless to say I kicked them out I recommend you use someone else and I only had them come back because I have a property management company
I trusted CMC and used them loyally for a few years to service two houses, but some things happened and I do not trust them anymore. There have been some ownership changes at the company and from my perspective service levels have gone down. Sean Cadieux (owner 04-13) is now working with Johnstone Supply. I have had multiple discussions with the current owner and I am not impressed. I received an invoice I thought was unreasonably high and nothing was itemized, so I called the company to get an explanation. The owner told me if I didn't like the way he did business I could take my business elsewhere. I learned they no longer service my type of furnace so I asked him why he is still charging me for a service agreement. Said he would get back to me, he hadn't, so I recontacted him the following week. Owner gave me false information about our service contract. Either he didn't know the details or he was lying, either way he just made it up. I paid all through summer and they bailed when I needed them. He promised to have someone call me set to up a final service call, and that never happened. Paid my bill and moved on.
I purchased a ventless gas wall unit from Lowes for less than $200, 3000 BTUs. Lowes recommended a contractor through their online porch.com service. Lowes gave me several names and I chose CMC. Boy was I ripped off!
They charged $750 for installation. They claimed that they would have to cut a bigger hole in the wall to replace an old unit, etc. When the two inexperienced grandsons showed up, they discovered that the unit needed to be attached to the wall to an already existing gas line. They used my installation to fill I the open space, a couple of pieces of cheap plywood, and updated the gas line. However, the unit doesn't work, After talking to the manufacturer, they determined that the installers cracked the regulator and informed me that I could get a refund if I had the unit removed and returned within 90 days. I called CMC and they wanted $250 to remove the unit. I wouldn't recommend CMC to hookup anything and I told Lowes the same thing. They agreed that I was ripped off.
Colleen S.STAY AWAY FROM CMC PLUMBING! I called because our water backed up. Long story short, after snaking it I was told they would need to jet it. Which would cost us $1,100.00, AND they couldn't do this until a WEEK later because they had to rent the machine. First of all, I have cameras all over my house inside and out that livestream 24/7. I don't appreciate a certain CMC individual smoking right outside my side door which was open, and then flicking his butt in my yard where i have pets. I was told after they supposedly jetted the plumbing, that we had holes in the pipes, and this would now cost us $3,800.00. So, i got a second opinion -- which is covered under my insurance making it free of charge. The guy came (not even a week later) and could hardly get his camera through because there were so many roots. He said whoever came out (cmc) and did this was a joke. he then asked how long it took them and i said four hours, roughly. He said it would only take him 45 minutes and that they had no idea what they were doing (again, this guy is covered under insurance, he has no reason to lie or try to sell me). CMC also told us that they would have a proposal and thumb drive for us that same day. It's been a week and nothing.. they came in, did absolutely nothing other than take our money and leave. They didn't complete the job because they didn't know how to. do NOT use this company. Instead, purchase SLWA and have insurance cover it. What a joke. Also, anyone that says they need half down before doing the job, is a red flag. unfortunately i overlooked it at the time but you live and learn.
Our heat broke down. I called CMC people around 7pm. They came in around 9pm. Charged me 4129 and told me that he will be back in the morning to fix it, as he did not have the part. Next day, he came back and fixed it. It was an ignition switch. Total cost of repair was $503 + $129 = $632. I checked the parts price around locally. It was between $105-$130. I called back to complain about this rip off. Manager kep telling me that they had parts mark up and that that was their price. Definitely, I would recommend to shop around before you call CMC plumbing heating cooling.
My wife called CMC, because they had good reviews. They came in and changed a disposal for a little over 560 dollars. Steep, but we agreed. Work was unfinished, disposal didn't work when I came home. They gave my wife instructions on what needed to be changed, she actually went to the store, spent time to get that and then return. Attempted to sell plan/insurance for 240 dollars a year, ""they will come and give 10 percent discounts"" on their already doubled prices. Does anyone want to pay a person claiming support for all appliances and unable to locate the correct fuse? Guy also recommended to call electrician, makes me wonder if he didn't find the correct fuse on purpose, to get some work for his friend, but hey - can't prove that one. Only reason they get two stars, my wife was very impressed with how polite and attentive the technician was. I will recommend that service to anyone who wants to pay double the reasonable price of a finished repair for an unfinished one.
Tammy K.This company definitely has a great team. They are honest, reliable and reasonable. I have used them when I had no heat and no air. Both times I received same day service and had my air and heat back up. What a lifesaver especially in the winter when you have young children. They definitely will always have my business. I would trust no other. Thanks for making your customers your number 1 priority, it definitely shows!
Tim M.They came to my house the next day. The Tech explained all our options, then took care of the problem with our AC. The cost was very reasonable. I will definitely call them next time!
