They were supposed to arrive the afternoon of July 5. My husband and I stayed home all afternoon and stayed off the phone in case they needed to call. No one ever showed up. Ironic, because their motto is ""We'll be there.""
patty p.Like Kurt O and Al S before has said...Just stay away unless you want to be overcharged...twice. I used them because my mitigation company suggested them. Wish I had seen Yelp first. I called Kenny before posting this. More excuses than a second grader without his homework.
We lost our water heater, on a Saturday. Called several plumbers and no answer. Cloverdale answered on the second ring. We told them the situation. Our water heater was only 3 years old they said we would be under warranty and to contact the plumber that was contracted on our build and we would save money. I explained we have tried to contact that plumber several times now and in the past but never have our calls returned and we now had to make a change. With that she took all necessary information and Andrew called us in 10 minutes. He walked my husband through a reset and when that didn't work he knew what was wrong. Within an hour Andrew found the part and was at our home doing the work. Fast, efficient and kept in contact every step of the way. Andrew also took care of letting us know that we would have warranty coverage on the part he replaced. Made our day. Thank you Andrew and Cloverdale.
Lacey D.We were surprisingly disappointed by Cloverdale's lack of professional ethics and disclosures. Considering their good reviews, we went in assuming the best.
Our first qualm came during the estimate process. We'd scheduled estimates with multiple plumbing companies, so long as they did free estimates. When we called, Cloverdale said they did. It wasn't until the plumber was at our house that we were informed the estimate was free IF we went with them for the repair. If not, it was a $60 fee. We were never told this when we called to schedule our FREE estimate. We felt duped, and ended up having a repair done on the spot (that wasn't the dire repair we had called in about), just to avoid the fee.
Because we were already frustrated with Cloverdale and $200 in the hole, we had the plumber quote us his rate for our dire fix (needed a washer box rebuilt to replace a valve). The estimate was around $150. We wanted time to compare this to other companies. Given the insane rate they charged us to replace a simple $40 valve stem, we were sure we could find something better.
When we emailed Cloverdale back a week later (after no luck trying to find a handyman, because these commercial companies suck you dry in order to pay for their fancy advertisements), we set up an appointment for Tuesday at noon to have our washer box rebuilt for the $150 we were quoted. The woman we corresponded with was friendly, but again, failed to inform us of some important fine print in their policies.
Early Tuesday morning we get a call from Cloverdale saying they want to come do the work between 9 and 10 a.m. We of course had to tell them this would not work since we both work full time, which is why we'd scheduled for the noon hour. They weren't particularly fond of this.
Then we get a call a little while later (mind you, again while we are at work) from the guy who is scheduled to do the repair. He says, ""I see in your appointment email you mentioned the original estimate of $150 for this project. I just wanted to let you know it's no longer going to be that rate, because the estimate was based off the original service call."" So now we find out the work is more in the ballpark of $200, something the original plumber failed to mention if we didn't get it done that first day, and something the woman corresponding with us via email did not correct us on.
At this rate, we just really need our valve replaced so we can get on with our laundry pile. But after all the loops Cloverdale has had us jump through because of a lack of disclosure on their part, we will not use them for any services in the future. Nor would we recommend them to friends, family, or neighbors. The only reason we're giving them two stars instead of one is because their employees were friendly. But that certainly doesn't make up for all the nickle-and-diming along the way.
(And I swear if they don't take our $25 coupon for the work they start here soon, I'm going to lose it. Come on, Cloverdale, do us a solid here.)
Stephen B.After previous excellent experiences with Cloverdale Plumbing, we asked them to install a matching auxiliary hard water faucet on our kitchen sink. The line was already plumbed to the under sink area and the sink already had the hole cut in it. So all we needed was the matching single valve faucet and a taste filter. It took them more than a month to order the faucet, which didn't match the main faucet design when it arrived. The cost for the parts and labor (1/2 hour) came to over $975.00. The good news: it works fine. But....about 8 months later I noticed a small red light blinking behind the faucet, indicating it was time to replace the filter. I couldn't find this particular filter anywhere in Meridian or Boise, except maybe Cloverdale Plumbing. I called them on a Saturday morning, got the answering service who offered to have a plumber return my call in 15-20 minutes, but warned me about a possible service call charge unless I waited until Monday. Forty five minutes later (half an hour after we had to leave for a meeting) we got a voicemail message from the plumber returning the call. I finally found the filter on Amazon.com and ordered one after spending an hour looking locally.
I'm still smarting from the cost (my daughter got a similar faucet, same brand, installed for $140 that really matches) and now I'm frustrated at the difficulty of servicing its filter too. It was no bargain!
Wow Sticker shock!! $195 to replace the valve for a bath tub (I'd do it my self if I new how). It took 15 min to do the work and looked very easy. The guy was fast, had the parts and was able to get it done before I could get over the shock. ""Plumbers are expensive, prob because they need to go to 4 years of school for it."" I will keep looking for a plumbing company that has reasonable rates. They did write off the $60 service call rate. The only good thing is they had time to come out right away, I guess I know why.
I own over 30 different commercial properties and have worked with several plumbers.
This company way over charges. I got charged $70 for a toilet handle.
The entire plumbing to get a toilet unplugged was over $300.
They have been great at coming out - some emergency calls and some scheduled. This past weekend I had a toilet plug and got the water turned off myself and they were very respectful about working with me and my time. The guy even tried to walk me through how to maybe fix it myself on the phone which I still needed him to come out. They gave me an estimate over the phone of what it would probably cost if it was one thing (which it was) and then fixed it. Sometimes these emergency items can surprise you and cost, but for someone to come out on a late afternoon/evening and fix it was nice to know. They have done work for me in the past as well (scheduled) and been courteous as well.
I called the owner Kenny to discuss my bill which I thought was a little high. He told me that they would refund me $60 of my bill. A month later I emailed the company asking about the refund that I had not received. I received a response the same day stating that they would have to check with Kenny and get back to me. I hadn't heard back a week later so I sent another email asking for an update and they never responded. I guess some people don't stand behind their word.
Jule E.PLEASE READ THE ENTRY ON THE 4/4/15 DATE FIRST!
I am a little stunned at this company. We had an emergency issue 06/2014 that cost us more money than we had. This emergency issue cost/billed us over $2000 in repairs, and $300 of that we were late with because of medication issues, and they sent to collection. I am disabled so we have to be cost cautious because of required expenses.
During the emergency, their plumber said while he was making some other repairs during another line issue, that an area needed repairs or that we were going to be having problems in the future. This area of repairs of copper line about 6"" of 1/2, with solder and fittings cost us $340.00.
Last week that area failed, and started leaking. I called 3/4/15, 9:15a,(we did talk about our lives for a bit) they said they would call back, asked if i was going to be home/near the phone, and never did call back. Another company came out and cleaned up the leaking area, and the one specific area that had been ""fixed"", $225. That plumber said the entire area of work was a mess( about a 4x4 area of copper pipe) and that it was going to have to be replaced, as it was going to have issues in the future. I just wish they would have called and just been respectful. Even if they weren't going to come out for any reason, just be respectful. I will not call them, nor refer them to friends or contacts of businesses that i have.
There are some really great plumbers in this valley, who are proud of their work and let their workmanship speak for itself. Cloverdales work is good but far to over priced for the quality.
Well as of today 3/6/15 I found out what has happened. Cloverdale called me. Due to my illness, which is miserable, and causes some really bad issues, Which on account has the side effect of memory issues. Cloverdale called me and a rather loud and gruff voice(that's being nice) informed me that i still owed money from the emergency situation (last August). I truly did not remember. He did bring up that my friend had written a check for over $1,000, but that I owed $400. He said that the amount last month had been lower, but they had been adding on interest. When I said that i truly did not remember seeing the bills, he made the comment that somebody must be hiding them from me. He also made comments about the man or whoever he is that lives here. Within the loud conversation he made the statement that an hour prior he had been out to the house, to bring me the bill, that he had knocked on the door but no one answered, and that he walked around. He said that he had also come to check on the leak and defended his plumber's work. He also said that he knew that he bills/statement were making to the mail box, and when i asked how many had he sent, he told me over ten a month....this conversation went on a bit more, and went to the point of attempting to explain medical and so forth, to defend myself , and he made comments about that also, at the end of the conversation I was is tears, and sick. I am not saying i am a weak person by any means. I am doing my best to recover from not so pleasant situation. This person had really enjoyed himself, really rather enjoyed himself. A ride in an ambulance is three times this amount.
This small amount of money made by this company does not warrant this type of behavior to anyone. Some may agree with me, some may not, and that's okay.
4/4/15-well we got lied to again about the bill, said and agreed to one thing and did another. Each month(9-18-14 thru 3/31/15) a $15.00 finance charge, on top of the Lien fee of $79.00(9/17/2014), and did not send us a receipt for the amount we did pay, but charged us a finance charge on the date that that it was paid, so we have a lien on the house over finance charges and a that comes to a total of $199.00...and the threat of legal action...how pleasant.
