Ben C.I had a similar experience to A.P. I believe this is a scam! Unable to light the pilot on my gas hot water heater, and seeing I had water and rust dripping onto and around the gas burner - I called 'Clinton Hill Plumbing' and explained that I needed a new hot water heater/tank. The man that arrived simply didn't appear to have the knowledge of a licensed plumber (was not local and definitely a subcontractor). He fiddled with the rusted ignition/gas burner - then attempted to tell me that I needed to replace the ignition/gas burner part (with no mention of fixing the water dripping directly onto the pilot light). That is, he was suggesting a quick fix remedy that would have had doused the pilot and had gas in my basement. When I told him that his suggestion wouldn't work, and we needed to replace the whole unit, the man then told me he had no way of bringing a new hot water heater to my house (in Clinton Hill). This moronic process cost me $245.
When I called 'Clinton Hill Plumbing' and asked for their manager and location, the woman answering (in the middle of the day) couldn't answer the questions.
A P.BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SCAM. I called a few plumbers and got quotes on the phone for a stopped drain. The office for Clinton Hill Plumbing & Heating quoted a flat fee of $175 and they were able to send a plumber out within an hour, so I hired them. Kevin, the plumber, fixed our drain, but when it came time to pay him, he said the price was double because he had to fix 2 drains to solve the problem, rather than 1. He also wanted me to pay him in cash or half cash/half check. I told him that that price wasn't what I was quoted, and he should have told me that it was going to be double before doing the work. He said the office doesn't ""know the prices"" and ""probably just gave me a ballpark."" I wouldn't relent and he said ""I'm not going to argue with you"" and took a check for the original quote of $175. Also the name for the check is ""L & S Plumbing,"" not ""Clinton Hill Plumbing."" He arrived quickly and fixed my drain quickly, but seems like he was trying to scam me to get more money. Beware.
