Clearway Plumbing & Heating
Company Overview
For over three generations, Clearway Plumbing has remained a family-operated company. Our licensed master plumbers manage every facet of plumbing and heating installation and repair for both residential and commercial clients.
Our journey began with my grandfather six decades ago, and now my son is following in his footsteps, learning the plumbing trade.
As Long Island develops, the essential quality of integrity in business practices has faded for numerous companies. We focus on what many companies have lost sight of while chasing profits at Clearway Plumbing. Our company is sufficiently sized to serve our clients effectively, without losing sight of their needs and our responsibilities.

This was my first time using Clearway and Jim. I could not be more pleased. I found their pricing to be reasonable for 2 fairly simple jobs, a dripping bathroom faucet and a really bad leak under my kitchen sink that needed immediate attention since I ignored it for too long and finally this morning gave way to a whole load of water under my kitchen sink. I tend to put my plumbing issues off as long as possible because I find it so difficult to find an honest, fairly reasonable (although not cheap), prompt and courteous plumber. I can spend hours just calling several companies. Most don't even have the decency to call you back, others sound like used car salesmen who either give you outrageous estimates over the phone or tell you that you will be charged a service fee for just walking in the door whether you actually use them or not! Then, if you do use them they will waive the service charge BUT charge you an outrageous fee and then even more for every 1/2 hr. they work! And the ones that did seem reasonable could not make an appointment with me for at least 2 weeks!! Holy cow! When I got in touch with Clearway, I received a call back from Jim immediately. He did not high-pressure me at all. He told me he could swing by within the hour and take a look at the problems....no charge. Then, after seeing the problem he would give me an estimate and I could decide whether or not to use him. He swung by, took a look, gave me a reasonable price, was quiet, friendly, polite, did his work efficiently and quickly and we were done. I showed him a couple of things that I would need to have done in the future. He took a look, gave me a written estimate and told me to call him when I was ready. I need a toilet replaced and he even said that once I picked out the toilet he would even pick it up for me instead of me lugging it home if I chose to buy in person. Today, it does seem that if someone answers the phone, actually calls you back and comes to your home same day, you've taken care of half the battle. Jim also told me that they handle emergency situations as well. Many do not. So, so far I am very pleased and will be using Jim most definitely in the future, in the near future as a matter of fact. I feel a sense of relief knowing that maybe I have finally found ""my"" plumber instead of relying on all these overpriced companies that take advantage of your emergency and send out any tech that's available. Here you are dealing with a family run business with Jim as the owner. So far, so good. Thank you Jim!
Very professional crew. Had a gas line run for a pool heater. Jim explained how he would do the job and when it would be finished. That is exactly how the job went. Outstanding service. Chris M.
John K.This was my first time using Clearway, and I am happy I made the call.
I had a drain line showing signs of corrosion. Called them at 1030am on a Saturday morning, the operator said I would get a call back from the on-call person ""in a little while."" What I did not expect was a call back within 2 minutes, and after explaining my situation Jim said he could be by within the hour. True to his word he was there to look it over and give me a price. He confirmed the corrosion and also did not like how the last person left the job...complete but rather haphazard. He gave me a fair price and said we could schedule something or he could get it done right now. I opted for the let do it now option, and within 10 minutes he had 3 guys here. They were all respectful of my property, did a nice CLEAN professional job, and all three guys were polite and kept to the job without wasting anyone's time. From call to finished job in under 2 hours, I was floored.
Honest, clean, professional, definitely will use them again if I ever need.
M. F.This was the second time we have used Clearway. My husband called on a Sunday and explained that water was leaking from the valve on our water heater and also somewhere on the bottom. Jim told my husband that a water heater only lasts between 8 and 12 years. Since ours was 15 years old, he stated that it cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced. He told us that a 50 gallon water heater ranges between $1200-1500. The next morning he requested pictures of our water heater and then made us aware that we have an indirect water system, which is actually better, but would cost more to replace. Now $2500-2900.
My husband asked for him to call me before arriving so that I could meet him at the house.
I was still unsettled about needing to replace the water heater that day. My neighbor stated that we could replace the valve and that would salvage the issue for now. The valve is a $16 part at Home Depot. I texted Jim myself and asked if that was something that could be done, since the water was leaking from there. He never responded to me.
Instead he showed up at our house and never called so I could meet him. My 16 year old son let him to see the water heater.
After being made aware of this, I left work to meet him. He was already on his way back after purchasing the new water heater. When I asked if he even turned the water on to see where the leak was coming from- Jim replied- NO! He stated that my husband made him aware that we wanted to replace the water heater. I made Jim aware that my husband is not a plumber and that is why we called one in!!!
I was standing next to my husband when he spoke to Jim. All that was stated was that we had a leak. Jim totally took advantage of the fact that we were not at home at the time. He went based on the age of the system and that
was it. He clearly was unhappy that I told him not to replace the water heater.
In the end he agreed to change the valve. He did recommend also changing out the expansion tank. However, my neighbor told me that unless it is filled with water, there was no need to change it at this time. Once, I told Jim to just change the valve and leave it at that, he agreed, but I can tell that he was not happy. He stated- ""clearly someone is in your ear."" After charging me $418 to change out just the valve ($16 part), he gave me a lesson in plumbing.
While I am aware that my water heater is on borrowed time based on its age (15yrs), I will not be calling Jim back to replace it.
We refer friends and family to Clearway without hesitation; these guys are the best. We first found Clearway on Angie's List about 6 years ago. Our home is starting to show it's age and we've been trying to update things proactively, so we decided to take advantage of a coupon they had to replace an outdoor spigot. Two outdoor spigots, one leaky faucet, two toilet replacements, one slab leak repair and, most recently, an update of our hot water heater to an on demand system and we wouldn't dream of using anyone else. Their work and customer service are second to none.
Jenny B.Our water heater went on a Friday night (of course). My husband called Jim Saturday morning and he sent someone to our home to check out the situation by the afternoon. We needed a piece that would have been a few hundred bucks to replace but they noticed our water heater was getting up there in age and would not be cost effective since the heater only had so much time left anyways. We ended up getting a new larger (growing family!) water heater installed on Monday morning. They were pleasant, clean and quiet as my son was napping. Thank you!!
First of all their website says that they will give you an estimate, They refused to and I had asked several times. The Plumber was com-pendent, but had to run to the supply house two separate times for a tools and parts. When he finally got the office on the phone, i was told that the cost so far was 385, then two hours later the price more than doubled. I would not trust this company to install a faucet, it would cost you more then remodeling a bathroom, and you would not find out the costs until they were walking out the door. The work was good, and I was told that the plumber normally had a helper, but they were not available How is this a way to be honorable in a business. NEVER again
I called first thing on a Friday morning and they came right over within a half hour. They did a great job repairing our bathroom sink drain. I would use them again.
Charles H.Just had Clearway come today to fix a toilet problem. Paul the serviceman arrived when the owner said he would arrive. Paul was courteous and professional. I will definitely use Clearway again.
Adam P.First time using Jimmy and his company. I called and they were at my house within an hour as promised.
Had a cracked pipe from the previous nights freeze and thaw.
They completed the job quickly and professionally and was able to squeeze our issue in along with the rest of their crazy schedule.
They did not over charge and it's clear they know what they are doing.
Will use again and recommend when needed
