I let them schedule appointments two different times. On both occasions, they canceled without contacting us, resulting in a lot of wasted time. On both occasions, the front office scheduler seemed to make up stories, change previously agreed upon dates for unknown reasons. Because of their unreliable service, I can not recommend this company.

Our grinder pump stopped working. If you don't know what a grinder pump is; it pumps ground up sewer op an incline to the main line. Without it, nothing moves. That's what I get for living in a hillside community I guess.
Clay came highly recommended by a retired plumber in my HOA. On his recommendation I canceled the other two plumbers I had scheduled. Within 24 hours Clay sent a crew of two and a pumper truck. Within two hours of starting, they cleaned up the mess and installed an upgraded pump with more umph.
Now, something to consider. They added $638 to the cost of the pump itself. Ferguson sells the same Model # for $638.00 less. Their mark up on a check valve $200 for a $15-$63 check valve. Labor is $300 and hour.
I understand businesses marking up their supplied parts, so this info is for your consideration.
Again, they responded within 24 hours and saved a family visit scheduled for next week. The crew of two were friendly, responsive and professional.

Clay's did a great job pumping our septic in an emergency. They jetted the outflow and got it working. They also scoped the pipes to show is the roots and breaks. Daniel and Matthew are great at their jobs. They work very hard and are fast. They are clearly experts. Clay's responded to a call on Saturday evening and were able to send help early Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon and all is well. Matthew and Daniel gave clear explanations and got the job done. Thanks guys!

My experience with Clay's Septic Service was overall a very good experience .
My Arroyo Grande home has a 25 year old septic tank and leach field. I have been the owner for approximately 7 years. I decided to have the septic tank inspected and pumped since I was doing a major landscaping renovation.
During pumping , Clay's team highlighted the deterioration in the septic tank baffle wall and exit port. I visually observed the deterioration and the deterioration was explained to me. Next, the team explained the repair technique to make my tank as good as new. I decided to schedule the repair.
Clay's team returned days later and implemented the repair with no issues.
Clay's team was great in explaining the working of a septic system. I have extreme confidence that the repairs implement by Clay's team will keep my septic system running smoothly for decades.
Property owners with septic systems should understand that servicing a septic system can has unpredictable issues that can arise. This can cause unexpected delays in schedule service which causes frustration.
In summary , I would recommend Clay's Septic service for any septic system issues.

Had clays out last week to do a pump and add risers . this is after they cancelled on Monday due to weather which was sunny by the way . This is their 3rd attempt in 2 wks. Finally get here the kid asks me if where wells are I show him then he asks if the Gas co has been out of course I bust out laughing &point to propane tank. He still presits that the Gas co was supposed to be here. I am shaking my head thinking oh Lord what a winner. Finally they start after smoking cigarettes every 3 mins throughout the whole day. Was told it would take 2 to 3 hrs they managed to take 8 hrs charging me 125.00 HR for 1 and 55.00 HR for the other. Oh &they said our leah field failed . Tried to tell them it was because of all the rain . but because I am a woman of course I know nothing. Wants to charge me 20thousand for a new leach field that we DONT NEED. They already got over $3500.00 for a pump and risers found that is double the prices from other places. Wish I knew this . workers all they due is smoke and throw soda bottles around . I live in fire country I can't have this shit. How can I give a 0 star that is what I want to give. Oh also to him 1hour and 20 min to write bill at 125.00 HR for him and 55.00 for helper pitiful. Worst company EVER Also broke my water line which they fixed but they also broke the turn off valve . My generation calls these kind of workers milkers and RIP offs

I will be finding another company to pump my septic tank. I always set my appointments for 7 am as this is a business and the smell is horrible. They have been getting later and later on there time arriving. Today they were 50 minutes late and my customers had to endure the smell. You would think being the first appointment of the day they would be on time. I don't have patience for companies that can not keep a schedule or at least call to warn me.

Worst service we've ever had in the Santa Ynez Valley.
To give you an example of the service to expect, this is what Justus (service person from Clay's Septic) requested of us when troubleshooting a septic tank malfunction.
""Can you get a metal hanger for me, it's kind of a weird request but it's the way I can find your septic tank distribution box"" After 3.5 hours of piddling around and being on the phone with his boss (making a plan), nothing was accomplished.
I felt like I was in an episode of Ghost Hunters. Justus pointing his splayed coat hanger at the ground trying to identify the problem area, very weird!!! I wish I would've taken some pictures.
By the way, Justus' old fashioned technology didn't work.
We ended up hiring another company that replaced the distribution box and leech lines in about the same time that Clay's Septic took to practice their witchcraft technology.

I made an appointment with Clay's Septic for service on our rental unit in Atascadero. I let them pick the time which was between 11-1. I drove there early and dug up the risers so all they had to do was open the lids and pump. Around 12:30 I called the office and the receptionist who seemed lost. She said the truck was up in Paso Robles and asked me if that was close to my house (its about 20 miles away). Eventually I explained I could not wait all-day and that she needed to give me an idea of their arrival. She said she would call back right away. About 2 hours passed (90 mins past their original appointment) with no phone call so I called them back. Another person (John?) answered the phone and put me on hold FOREVER. When he returned he said his truck was still busy and asked me if it was OK to reschedule for another day.
After digging up my tenants driveway and waiting there for almost 5 hours that was just too much for me and I cancelled the job. I felt that that they knew they had double booked the day and just blew me off. Everyone's time is valuable and they did not respect my time by being honest up front. If they would have told me they made a mistake I would have been understanding.
I had also made an appointment for a second home and the two jobs totaled $1250 worth of work they lost for not being honest about the situation.

Great work form the team that was sent to repair damaged pipe connected to septic tank. They worked hard on a very uncomfortable day out in the afternoon sun. Repair was perfect and my system is working perfectly now. Also took care of all clean up after the major digging. so greaateful for their service.
