Our air conditioning unit quit working on the hottest day of the year. Before we called Classic, we had called another local company come out to look at the air conditioner. The other company told us we'd have to replace the compressor or the entire unit, and it would be at least a week before they could have the unit installed. A friend of ours recommended Classic Plumbing & Air, so we called them. I am so grateful he did! Kyle from Classic came out the same day, was professional, courteous, honest, and kind. He diagnosed & fixed our problem in less than 1/2 an hour. Classic will now be our go-to for plumbing and air issues, and if we can always have Kyle be our service man it would be a bonus!
Good service. Well done. I recommend to my friends regularly.

Michael F.In July 2023 I posted on FB about needing a new water heater for a 10 unit apartment building in Champaign-Urbana and requested plumber recommendations .
I received 5 bids all from licensed plumbing companies.--two for $19K or so, two for $9K or so and one, from Classic Plumbing in Mahomet for slightly less than $5K, who did the work (and which passed city inspection). One of the $19K bids included various equipment allegedly needed to meet new code requirements that did not exist when the old water heater was installed 45+ years ago. I did not look carefully at the second high bid. Well an appropriate replacement water heater should cost a bit less than $3K, miscellaneous parts several hundred more and 15-20 hours of labor at $100-120/hr or so, which gives $5K or so as a fair amount. So why the differences? The two highest bidders seem to have lied about the equipment required, and the four high bidders seem to have put excessive markups on the water heater. Thus if you need plumbing work and do not know whom to call, contact Classic Plumbing in Mahomet (217) 586-7473
Cari R.I've used Tim and his team for several years both for my home and farm. I really trust Tim and his whole time to do a good job at a fair price. I recommend him without hesitation.
Jeremy F.Toilet tank was running constantly and they showed up same day, replaced it and did a great job. Saved me a bunch of money on my water bill too!!
Classic Plumbing was quick to come out when I called and the original estimate of 110.00 seemed reasonable to change out a shutoff valve under a sink. The technician was pleasant and respectful. He removed a replacement valve we had installed and explained that it was too long and wouldn't compress properly. The the technician said that there was nothing wrong with the original valve/seal that we had tried to replace because it was leaking and he reinstalled it and said we just did not have it tight enough and told me it was no longer leaking. I came home from work to a puddle in the bottom of the cabinet. I called back and the owner came the next day and wanted 420.00 more to cut a hole in the back of the cabinet and into the wall to replace the valve completely. He would not credit me the 110.00 for the failed repair from the day prior and told me that he was being ""neighborly"" by giving me a ""discount"" at 110.00 instead of charging me their normal base rate of $160.00
I called Quality Plumbing in Urbana and they gave me a FREE consultation and FREE estimate for the complete replacement of the valve. The estimate was significantly less because their regular base rate is $96.00 even though they are 10 miles away (which seemed a lot more neighborly) a full $64.00 less an hour than Classic who is a block away from me. I guess you know who will be doing my plumbing work when I need help again.
Sometimes trying to support local businesses just costs too much more.
I will say thanks though to the owner of Classic. He mentioned to my boyfriend that the faulty valve was NIBCO brand which allowed us to look for a replacement which we found at Menards for $10.00 and installed ourselves and it doesn't leak anymore. No holes in my cabinet or wall were needed. Just a $10.00 part from Menards and 10 minutes of time.
I had Classic Plumbing cancel on a call twice. The second time I had taken the morning off from work and they decided to go on an emergency call instead without any prior notice. I basically found out 15 minutes before the call time.
I have rental property in Mahomet Illinois, there was a problem with a leaky pipe and spicket. My renter suggested a local business Classic Plumbing in Mahomet, Illinois. I called and told them of the problem and it needed to be fixed.
My mistake was not asking for a repair estimate FIRST. I just said it needed to be fixed and to go do it. They did the job, work was done properly, (just needed a couple of unions and a valve replaced) but the bill was considerably more that I thought it should have been.
Turns out when I checked out the prices of the parts used I found that the retail price of all parts if bought at the LOCAL RETAIL hardware store in Mahomet with RETAIL prices, would have been $39. Classic Plumbing charged me $94.00 for the same parts! That's 235% markup on materials. I think that's defined with the term ""Rip-off""!
They're labor rate is $90 per hr. which is commensurate with the area businesses so I have no problem with that. I guess I learned a lesson which is: ""Don't expect everyone to be as honest and fair as you are when hiring them over the phone""!
I left them a voice mail message to call me...they never did. I told their management in a letter that I would give them a 20% markup on matl's and sent them a check in payment for that job. You'd think they would call me to discuss it, they never did.
They just sent me a bill back with NO REFERRENCE to my letter regarding the exorbitant charge for materials, saying I still owed $37 as if they never got my letter at all. I obviously won't be using them ever again and the blog I put out on my 4 different ""Rip-off Reports"" will be a copy of this review.
Can't say enough good about these folks. I had a problem on a weekend and called their number to leave a message, expecting not to talk to them until Monday. But someone answered their phone late on Saturday PM! The woman I talked to scheduled my repair for 8:00am Monday, and sure enough they called to confirm at 7:45 Monday and were at my door at 8:00 sharp. They repaired the problem in short order and charged me a VERY reasonable price. These folks will be my go-to plumber for the foreseeable future. In my 45 yrs of multiple home ownership, this is the best plumbing repair experience I've ever had.
