I have used Chuck (CJ's Plumbing) a handful of times. At this point, however, I could no longer recommend CJ's Plumbing. While they might be competent plumbers, their follow-up and ability to finish a job is lacking. I hired CJ's Plumbing and they left me hanging in the middle of a job. I called, texted, and emailed multiple times with no acknowledgement. I hired him for an emergency job and he never showed. When he wanted to get paid, however, he had no issues with returning calls. Subsequently, I had to hire another plumber to finish what CJ's started. Unbelievably frustrating.

My husband and I were referred to CJ's plumbing because both of our shower pans were cracked. I received a call from the owner, Chuck, that someone would be out to measure our showers that evening on their way home from work, however, it took about a week for someone to come out and measure without even a phone call. Once measured, I was scheduled for our shower to be demoed on a Monday, and they just couldn't get out to us, and it ended up being Wednesday. At this point, I'm not worried about anything, I understand people are busy especially at the end of the year.
At the demo on Wednesday, the employee told me they would be there that Friday at 2pm to finish the shower. I waited for them until 3:30pm on Friday until I decided to call the employee who was working on my showers. He said he was so sorry, and that the owner was supposed to call me that morning to tell me they had an emergency job that day. The employee told me that he would have the shower 100% completed on Monday in order to make it up to me.
Monday rolls around and I am canceled on again. I call the owner and he apologizes and tells me I should not be scheduling with the employee, only with him. He completely threw his employee under the bus telling me he's been having so many issues with him, etc. He told me that someone would be out that evening or Tuesday to finish up the job. However, I never got a call from him again, and nobody even showed up Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday!
Thursday rolls around, and I am told by the owner that morning that someone will be at my house between 12-1pm. The employee shows up to my house at around 3:30-4pm (not much time to finish a shower). I call the owner to ask why nobody showed up to my house until late in the day, and he hangs up on me!! I didn't even raise my voice or use any vulgar language, I simply asked him why this is not a priority, and CLICK. I thought maybe something happened with the line, but he never even tried to contact me again. When the employee shows up, he notices that we have a ton of black mold, so he cannot finish the job that day as he needs to get material to rebuild all the walls. The owner told him to just lay the shower on top of existing mold, which could make someone very ill. I was not pleased to hear that they wanted to cut corners and jeopardize our health just so a job could get done in a day. I told him to go ahead and do it the right way as long as he could have it finished the next day. He told me he promises he will have it completed on that next day (Friday).
He shows up on Friday, and I tell him that we have plans that night, and he can work until 7:30pm. However, he works for a couple hours, then leaves on a two hour break, then comes back and works only two more hours (ends up leaving the jobsite at 4pm). He once again promises it will be 100% complete on Monday. I believed him and canceled plans so that I could be home that day to get the shower done. However, he cancels again on Monday and tells me it will be 100% complete on Tuesday. He cancels on Tuesday, saying he doesn't have all the materials he needs or the side walls for the shower, but he will be running around that whole day to get everything he needs so he can come to my house first thing in the morning to complete the job. I find this very strange because before he found the mold, he said he was fully prepared to finish our shower that day, so how could he not have the side walls by this point? He again promises me it will be 100% complete on Wednesday, and will be at my house first thing. I made it clear that he needs to be there in the A.M. and not in the P.M. like normal. I get a text around 11am saying he will be at my house around 2:30-3pm. By this point I'm ready to fire them, but the shower we are currently using has been getting worse and worse (leaking water coming up from the flooring). If they could have done their job in a timely manner, my other shower wouldn't have so much damage. My Master shower has now been torn up for two weeks, with supplies in my bathtub. I can't even use my bathroom at all. Need I remind you, the owner still hasn't even tried to contact me to see how things are going, he simply does not give a crap. The employee told me that Chuck only cares about money. This has been such a terrible experience. We decided to have our showers done by a company, as I am pregnant and my husband and I have a lot on our plates right now. I wish we would've just done it ourselves, as this experience has caused way more stress than needed right now. If I didn't have a stay at home job, I can't even imagine how many days of work I would have missed because of them. They lie to you and do not respect their clients or their time. Their lack of communication and lack of customer satisfaction is by far the worst I've ever seen. I'm surprised they are even in business.

The people who did the work on my house either did not know what they were doing, or they didn't care about doing anything right. Either way there were two disasters that they caused and then other irritating things that should have been avoided if they cared. This house was new construction and they did the plumbing per my contractor. First of all they didn't install my dishwasher correctly and water flooded out my cabinets under the sink. While that could have been just a mistake, I found out they did the same thing to my contractor in his own kitchen. Wow, that is bad service. Secondly they didn't bother to install a long enough pipe out the wall from the water tank. To cover up the error, they just stuck a elbow pipe on the outside of the house to make it look like it was plumbed through the wall, but it was not connected. It dripped inside the wall for a year and then started to show mold on the outside of the wall inside my garage. The wall actually started growing mushrooms! Oh, I forgot that they also had not installed the water heater for propane, instead of natural gas, so it howled every time I used hot water. They also installed the wrong toilets after I had told them explicitly which brand and model I wanted. This was a bad experience all the way around.

At CJ's you get to speak with the owner about your plumbing inquiry and are given solid steps on how to proceed with a particular issue. It's not like a plumbing business chain. I'm very impressed by their work and will continue to use them. My issue was small but they didn't take advantage by trying to overcharge me. Very courteous and friendly customer service, the Plumbers left my house with excellent completed work and also gave me solid peace of mind. Highly recommend.
