My problem began with a constantly running well pump and low water pressure in my home. I called Chuck Mullins Plumbing on a referral from a plumber who had some prior work for me. My suspicions that the source of my problem was ""possibly in the well pump line"" was clearly communicated to Mullins and the plumber Mullins very promptly dispatched to my home. Mullins' plumber spent some time diagnosing the problem and concluded the pump, which was very old, was failing due to worn impellers. I agreed to purchase a replacement pump and was told it would be a ""Wilson."" After researching this brand relative to the Gould pump that allegedly was failing, I agreed to make the recommended purchase and repairs. Only after the new pump was installed, and owner's manual was presented, did I learn that, instead of a Wilson pump, a Pentair pump had been installed. In response to my questions, I was told that Pentair ""is the company that owns Wilson"" and the pumps were ""of equal quality.""
Unfortunately, the pump replacement did not cause the problem of a constantly running pump and little water pressure to be resolved. Only then did Mullins discover the leak in the water line from the pump to my home. Thirty minuets later, the line-leak had been repaired. I came close to not writing this (it has been over a month since the work was done), in part, because the replaced pump was old and the price ($1,704.00) was within the price range that was initially quoted. However, after reflection, I felt that customer should be alerted not to give Mullins as much trust and confidence as I had done.
I was looking at having 2 external faucets fixed that were leaking. My neighbor had them on-site to do the same for them as well so I asked what the charge would be. The technician was nice and came over to look and provided a cost (165) for repair, which I kindly agreed upon and he mentioned that he had to order parts. Well after a week and a half he visited today did the install and then says the price is now 215.
I'm not happy with how a company does business in that manner. Personally I should have known better and asked for the order in writing but I presumed that they were of a good and trustworthy company so I didn't. Commitment and integrity I feel is lacking. Should have honored the price agreed upon. And if there was such a difference between the two should have made me aware prior to doing the job not after. I called the office and ha e not heard back from the company.
Not sure I would feel comfortable recommending them or even considering them back for more work. If you do anything, be sure to get it in writing.
Update - the company has reached out to me and we did discuss what corresponded. I'll continue to update this review based on final outcome.
I had an ""almost"" emergency water leak and was able to get on the schedule for the following week. Brian solved that problem and we scheduled the follow up with Lots of other plumbing issues, including a replacement water conditioner, new line to the refrig, new valves for two bathroom sinks, re-routing the outdoor spigot. Final cost was 45% of another local plumbing company. The only challenge is - this is a small family operation; no high tech emails, scheduling, web site, etc. If they say they are coming, you have to trust that they will, and they did!
I plan to call them for all my plumbing needs. Do yourself a favor and do the same. ;-)
I've used Chuck Mullins plumbing before - and was totally satisfied. I just used them for some periodic maintenance-type matters. Cindy was great in setting it up; Brian and Steve did the work - and were exceptionally courteous and professional, while getting the job done. I'm very appreciative of the whole team. Chuck Mullins plumbing will be my plumber as long as I continue to live in the area.

We moved into a tiny renovated farmhouse in Culpeper, and there was no end to the countless issues/problems we encountered. One being that with the first load of laundry, the water overflowed all over the floor. We discovered that the washer literally was emptying into the yard. It had not been connected to the septic! Stephen from Mullins came to the rescue. You can see from this photo what a tough job he had with a nearly inaccessible crawl space to deal with. He was quite personable and excellent at his craft. The pricing was fair as well. I will add that they can be a bit hard to reach, but don't give up, as they are very much in demand, and you will be very pleased with their skills!
After using three other plumbers and having bad experiences I was referred to these guys. Their price is great and so is there work plus they have experience with Wells and septics. I've used them for a bunch of projects and repairs now, I swear by them and when my customers ask for referrals I suggest these guys.
Jennifer R.I asked for an estimate of damage. I was not told the estimate would cost. I did not need anything fixed until after the claims adjuster came. The guy chose to cap a water line just to have something to do. I did not need that done. I just asked for an estimate yet was charged for work.
Beth T.Great service and very friendly. The price was unbeatable! This will be our plumber moving forward.
