Chris is a really great guy, and is knowledgeable, tells you what's going on and is affordable. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a good sewer and drain person. I'd had a sewer line repair company come out and tell me that they needed to replace my sewer line. They couldn't come out the day I had a problem, and they gave me a couple of names. Chris was the only one who called back, came out the next day and told me that the only problem was that with the drought the roots have grown into the line because they wanted the water.

Chris has been keeping our very old drains clear of roots for many years. Every good thing said about him in all these other 5-star reviews is true. He's absolutely reliable, super-competent, honest and trustworthy. Ever since he cleared our blocked drain the first time and taught us about precautionary drain clearing we've called him once or twice a year to clear roots out before they caused another blockage. He's also cleared clogged lint out our washing machine drain a couple of times.

When you call to arrange for a maintenance drain clearing Chris sets up the appointment at a time convenient for you and arrives on time. There's no ""window"" of two or more hours, not knowing when he'll arrive. If you agree on10:00 AM, he'll be there at 10:00 AM. And he'll be friendly and patient and proceed to do his work efficiently. He works so calmly that he gives the impression of working slowly, but then the work seems done in no time. You can't do better than calling Chris Utter for sewer and drain service.

he is also, very patient, as he always has to pull the toilet to clean
the sewer, as my house has no outside cleanout...he doesn't complain, just does it, cleans the line, resets the toilet with a new wax seal, packs up and heads on out......

Simple. Affordable. Competent. Fair. We made an appointment. He came at the time he said he would. He cleared our drain line for $110. He knows his stuff and he'll take care of business. Have used any number of other services that were less competent and cost more. Will stick with Chris. Highly recommended!!!

Chris has been keeping our lines clean for more than 20 years. He's eccentric in the best way, honest, and straight forward.

You may have to be patient if you're in a panic, but he WILL call back and offer the best deal available.

HONEST, COMPETENT, TRUSTWORTHY, AFFORDABLE. Chris came to my rescue after a visit from Mr. Rooter (Oakland/Berkeley) was going to charge me $2355 to clean out my clogged sewer line (they said I needed a new outside clean out access before they could complete the job because their snake could not completely clean out the roots and they needed this access to use their camera and to ""hydro scrub"" the line...)

Luckily, Chris called at the right time as i was getting the Mr. Rooter estimate, and I ended up sending them away. Chris came a few hours later and charged me $95 to use an old fashioned snake to clean out my sewer line of ALL the roots, all in less than one hour and used the sewer access line that was available (so I didn't need a new access pipe, after all). I really appreciated his straight forward, honest plumbing services. CALL THIS MAN FOR YOUR CLOGGED DRAINS!! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! THANK YOU, CHRIS!!

This man deserves 10 stars for his old school expertise--you just don't find people with this kind of know how. Our shower had a slow drain due to a clog. We called a plumber and a team of 2 plumbers spent 3 days trying to unclog it. They broke their drain snake in our shower and then said we needed to give them $800 to have all of our pipes replaced. Well, we told them we didn't feel comfortable with that, paid them $100 for NOT being able to unclog our drain, and sent them packing. If they couldn't unclog a drain, we certainly didn't trust them to replace all of our pipes. After checking yelp, we found Chris---a clog specialist! He got the clog out in 20minutes!!!!

Before a friend of mine told me about Chris, I suffered through too many incompetent plumbers and purported drain/ rooter services who wanted to sell me snake oil remedies that were just overpriced bootleg drano, who couldn't figure out how to actually snake the sewer line, and/ or who insisted that they needed to put a camera down the line and replace the entire pipe. I now have a collection of receipts for the yearly unclogging services of Chris' Quality. As long as I remember to call Chris every year, I don't have to worry about raw sewage bubbling out the outflow outside the house, or worse, all over the bathroom floor or into the bathtub. hallelujah. Plus, I love chatting.
