Chosen Rooter is the Sh!%$.

Not only is the owner of the company a standup guy: Daniel, but their whole crew stands up to the sew, pushin' it through. We have a home warranty which makes for cheap visits, but Chosen Rooter doesn't try to just show up and collect the $. They give it to you straight and unclogged. They even let us know when the Warranty Company was being a bit shady. Good guy and company. They saved us lots of time and $.

We called Chosen Rooter and Plumbing to help fix a clogged drain. They quoted us $150-250 and offered a $25 discount for the clogged drain (which is mentioned on their website). They came and did the job in about 15 minutes and charged us $250. When I paid the bill I was not aware they didn't apply the discount. When I later contacted them about it, they said we needed to mention the discount at a specific time in order to get it, which is not mentioned on their website. Then they offered to refund the discount, but only in exchange for a good Yelp review. So I'd question whether these reviews are accurate since obviously they are trying to offer monetary incentives for good reviews.

I called a bunch of plumber services in the neighborhood to get a quote for my shower that was draining very slowly. I went with Chosen Rooter and Plumbing because of their initial quote of $150 - $250. They also advertised that they have a 15% discount on their yelp page. Because of this and the 5-star review, I scheduled for them to help fix my drain issue.

I rarely write any negative reviews, but I feel that everyone should WATCH OUT for this company because of how misleading they are with their customers.

The technicians showed up and fixed the drain in less than 15 minutes. I knew that this was going to be an easy job since the drain was not fully clogged. I thought the initial quote of $150 would be the price with the 15% discount.

The technicians told us the total would be $250. I was shocked and confused but did not want to argue with strange men in my house and would just bring this up to the manager. I paid the invoice and immediately tried to contact them to see why the price was so high.

I brought this up with the manager, Daniel, but he was not helpful and I had to message several times to get an actual response.

He told me that they charge per project and because they used a power snake, it cost more. He also mentioned that the 15% discount only applies to neighbors and that I didn't ask for the discount.

First of all, I live in San Francisco, so I am confused about how I am not considered a neighbor. Second of all, I did mention that I am calling from Yelp and the discount.

Daniel proceeded to tell me that it's so great that they charge per project because other companies charge per hour and the customer is usually ""milked like a cow"" per hour.

Overall, I would not recommend this company as they mislead their customers and do not actually use their advertised discounts. I am not entirely sure why they have a 5-star rating but I do know that some companies can pay for better reviews.

Dear Daniel,

All of the other plumbing places I called did provide quotes. So I am not sure why you think your company is unique in this regard.

Additionally, I am confused about why you think you went above and beyond by responding to an email from me. You were defensive and all of a sudden came up with conditions for a discount you were advertising. You did not offer any suitable solution for me except a 10% off discount for service in the future. You cannot even honor a discount for a service the first time, a discount in the future will not be of use to me.

Following my review, the business owner contacted me to discuss the scope of what was done and the pricing issue I had raised.

He politely explained their pricing policy and the difficulty in pricing plumbing jobs accurately. He emphasized that it's their goal to be transparent and offer pricing that is fair to customers. I found him to be genuine and sincere and he listened to my concerns. He generously offered a discount so as to fairly reflect the cost of the job that was completed. I appreciate the owner taking action to address and remedy my concerns.

These plumbers are great. We had two separate plumbing needs shortly after we moved into our new home (old house) and they took care of us as timely as possible. Everyone who came out to our home for these two jobs was very nice and thoroughly explained what needed to happen. When the work happened they were really fast. They even helped me with ideas on other plumbing situations we had in the house. I definitely recommend them.

Our hot water heater died and CR&P was able to get a new one installed the same day. Our technician, Ron, arrived early, was wonderful and got the new one sourced, picked up and installed in less than two hours. I would definitely recommend them!
