Daniel M.I came home at 5:30 pm and found my air conditioner not working and my home at hot mess! Choate's had someone dispatched to the house within 45 minutes, he diagnosed the problem, had to run out to get a special part, returned, installed and tested that everything was working and then left at about 8:30 pm.
We went from broken air conditioner to working air conditioner in about 3 hours even after traditional ""office hours."" Thanks for the great service!
Michael J.We have a 20-year old AC unit at our place and it was struggling as the temperatures were getting over 90 to keep the house under 80 degrees. They were running their special on Yelp (seems to be a permanent thing, but it's only a first time customer special). It made the initial cleaning very cheap and improved the performance. I also appreciate the honesty of the technician; he let us know that, because of the age of the unit and the lack of care, the amount of work to do a proper cleaning of the ducting in the attic would have been so labor intensive that it would be better to get a new unit. We are renting the place we are at now, so we passed it on to the landlord and owners and left the decision up to them. I would use them again for a future home.
Smith Services is the best! I will NEVER go anywhere else! They are upfront and honest....HONEST! I'd previously had 2 other contractors come out.
The first tech named Burt from Choates, stated that my inducer motor assembly was going bad. Prior to him coming out my heat was atleast coming on. After he finished 'looking' at it, it was totally out! He claimed he was trying to get me thru the weekend and couldn't. It was worse after he 'tested' it! Instead of being upfront and giving me the cost, he directly went into sales mode and tried to sell me a maintenance plan. On top of that his quote to fix it all was $600!!!!
I just didn't trust the guy and decided to try Southern Comfort Heating next. They were even worse. I told them that the previous tech said it was the inducer motor assembly. So they went into the attic and 'tested' it and came back with the same issue. The thing about Southern is that they left to go out to purchase the part and called me back stating the part cost $300!!!! And, I had to pay in CASH AND I had to do it now before the dealership closed at 11AM!!!! Anytime a vendor rushes you trust your intuition and know that is not RIGHT!
Smith was honest, reputable, and actually went and tested the heating. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the motor. NOTHING!!!! The circuit board just needed to be reset!!! I will ALWAYS use Smith Services for heating, a/c, or appliances! And I will tell others about Smith's good service as well as my experience with the others! Smith Services is the best!!! Thanks Glenn, my tech! He gave me the best Christmas gift this year!!!!
Beth M.I had an issue with my heat on the first chilly day of the year. I called Choates around 11 am, and they said they could have someone out between 3-7. I got a call at 3:15 saying they were on the way and by 4:30, everything was fixed and working. Thanks Choates!!
very please with your quality of service. Chad was very honest and easily to deal with. The installers was very efficient and friendly too . I will recommend ur company to everyone who needed hvac services.
Deanna F.AC went out at my elderly parents house. Forecast was 93* so I was worried we may not get quick service. I found Choate's on Yelp and an online coupon for $50 off an $85 service call. Called Choate's about 8am and they told me a technician would be out between 10-2. Technician, Chad, arrived about 9:30! Super nice! Super helpful! And said he'd do everything he could to give us a good price. Took him about 1 hour to get it running (something with the compressor). Very please with all aspects of service from the woman who took my call to Chad and the quick repair.
BTW my parents live all the way out in Drummonds, TN!
Buyer beware. They charge a flat $85 fee to just walk through your door. The serviceman was in our home for 5 minutes, plugged in the ac and gave us a bill for 85. NOT worth it
Kim K.Zach, their master plumber came out in snow & ice last weekend and got the clog partially undone enough to run a camera and see that the pipe from the cast-iron to the terra cotta u turn had collapsed. They came back Wednesday and dug up the collapse and replace it with PVC and a code tap out. I cannot say enough good things about Choate and how they treated me and the great work they did. I would give it a 5 except they are very expensive compared to other plumbers I've paid. Still, if you want it done right, pay the extra and have Choate do it.
Missy R.Dreadful experience with Choate's...... I called Choate's at 12:30 this afternoon, because my 12 year old water heater (which is located in my attic) was leaking and I needed a new one. The dispatcher took my information and told me a service tech would call me back. Within 5 minutes I did, indeed, receive a call from the tech and explained the situation to him; that my water heater was leaking, the drip/catch pan didn't have a drain, and that the pan was leaking and we were having to constantly vac the water out. The tech explained that since it was Saturday, he would not be able to buy the water heater and it would be Monday before he could come. I asked him would he be able to install a water heater if we went to Lowe's and purchased one, and he said yes. He went on to explain that only the labor would be under warranty, which I completely understood, and told him that would be fine. At that point I put my husband on the phone with him, and he asked the tech what time would be the latest he could come and he said no time was too late, just to let him know when we had the new water heater and would come after whatever other calls might come in. I called the tech back at 2pm and told him my husband was back with the water heater, and I told him to call me when he was on the way, and he said ok. At 3:45 pm the tech called back and told there was no way he could come today and that it would be Monday before someone could come out. Irritated and unhappy with that information, I called Choate's main number and Lisa, the dispatcher, who has been the ONLY helpful person I have spoken to at Choate's, listened to my problem, put me on hold to try and call the tech herself, and then got back on the line to tell me that Wendy, the manager would be calling me ""right back."" Instead, fifteen minutes later the tech called back and told me it would be Sunday afternoon, MAYBE, before he could come out. I told him that I couldn't rely on ""maybes"" and that I was told Wendy would be calling me back. Finally, I received a call from Wendy at 4:15. She offered nothing but excuses and half-hearted apologies for ""any frustration.""
Choates handles our maintenance at my office's 100,000 square foot warehouse. Any problems that we ever have, they always come out the same day. Very friendly too!
