In 1969, three Nashville investors purchased the American Heating & Cooling in Cookeville after acquiring it from Cantrell Brown. Throughout the next four years, it built a name for itself as a trusted provider in the Upper Cumberland area, despite operating with only three trucks and under $100,000 in annual sales. In 1973, the company took a pivotal step when Garry Floeter was appointed general manager. He acquired a quarter of the outstanding shares and was appointed president of the corporation. In the next year, the name was changed to Cookeville Heating & Cooling. Between 1973 and 1990, CHC saw remarkable growth. Ultimately, the services division was spun off into a distinct company, known as Cookeville Mechanical Services. Shortly thereafter, Floeter finalized the stock options with the other CHC shareholder and bought back the remaining shares, assuming full ownership of the company. To learn more about our history,

Garry Floeter, the president has had much of his life in heating and cooling, which is an understatement. In his youth, Garry began learning the HVAC trade while helping out at his father's refrigeration services company. Currently, he holds the position of the president of a leading and highly successful HVAC and mechanical contracting firms in Middle Tennessee.

Garry grew up in Nashville. His career began at twelve years old hauling his father's tools. Garry completed his education at the now-defunct Hume-Fogg Technical High School, serving as class valedictorian and furthermore holding the position of the president of the Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America at the state level.
