Recommended Customer Reviews
I want to start by acknowledging the outstanding reviews this company has, which I have acknowledged by giving them an extra, undeserved (from us) star.
This is part of what was so very disappointing today--the gap between expectations, and reality.
We wanted to replace our shower doors, and the place from which our builder had purchased the originals, which are called ""semi-frameless"" -- in our case thin and wobbly -- is no longer in business.
This time, we wanted good quality, solid, frameless glass doors, cut much thicker than our current ones. And thankfully, after working many years, we are retired and finally, now in the fortunate position of no longer pinching every penny. Good, thick shower doors, we finally decided, we deserved!
So, after a thorough review on the web of our options, we selected Chas G. Burch, based on outstanding Google reviews, a hefty 40-minute drive from our home in Glenmont.
But, it started out to be rather fun in anticipation--new shower doors, and a five-star business to help.
Sadly and somewhat surprisingly, nobody was very happy to see us when we arrived, a respectable hour and a half before closing today (Saturday). There were two employees, I assume sales associates, each tied up in lengthy transactions with (I assume) customers. We wandered around and checked out the displays, and no one approached us.
Finally, one of the busy sales associates half got up from her desk and asked -- and here, tone and affect are everything -- whether she could help my husband (clearly, since she was busy with someone, this would be difficult). She sounded annoyed, and did not smile throughout the exchange. My husband said yes, we were interested in some new shower doors, hoping that perhaps in 15 minutes or even longer, she might become free to help us. She pulled out a card, handed it to him, and said ""measure your doors and call me on Monday."" My husband said ""do I need an appointment?"" and she said yes, we did. That was the end of the exchange; she clearly wanted us to leave.
Disappointing though this was, it could have been handled very differently, and much more constructively: ""Hello, welcome to Chas G. Burch. I'm sorry, but unfortunately I'll be tied up the rest of today, and no one else is available to help, either. But tell me how we can help you at the next time that is convenient for you?"" (My husband explains.). ""Oh, yes, we carry several lines of shower doors; if you would please measure the height and length of each panel in your current shower and bring this information back to me, would you be able to call me on Monday to set up an appointment, when I can devote more time to helping you? Here is my card."" (Smiling a lot throughout!)
Well, obviously, this isn't how it went. When we arrived home, disappointed and trying to figure out how to approach looking for shower doors, I dug into the Chas G. Burch website, which stressed that measurements of shower doors would best be taken by a plumber or contractor.
As it happens, we have a contractor currently working on a renovation of our laundry room. We'll be asking him to assume this task for us, and we won't be going back to Chas G. Burch.
Well, it started out being a potentially fun adventure. Too bad!
Ralph A.I had a ceramic disk faucet stem that I needed to replace. Local hardware, Nope. Big Box, Nope, FW W, Nope. FW advised (thank you) go to Chas G Burch in Schenectady. I was skeptical. I walk in, I show the part to the desk guy, he looks at the part and about two minutes later, he hands me the hot water stem and a cold water stem, too. He says, ""If you changing one...,"" These people are in the know. Go to them, support them, do not let them go out of business... ever!
Thank you for your expertise and thank you for being in business.
Used this Company for our kitchen design and providing all cabinets, countertops and plumbing equipment and for coordinating with an installer. We were extremely impressed with the high end kitchen that resulted - really fabulous and have had rave reviews from our family and friends. The individuals we dealt with throughout the project were professional, courteous and polite. As customers we were probably difficult to deal with as have engineering backgrounds - so highly attentive to details, quality and schedule. The company employees were always accommodating and polite and we ended up very happy customers who would use them again and recommend to others.
I've had a glass shower wall and door installed by JD Shower Doors, through Chas Burch. These folks at Burch know quality product and incredible installers. Working with Burch, knowing they know 'the best' installers for their products, makes any renovation or new construction easier than expected.
Laura N.If you need a 50 cent part or a new bathroom, this is the place to go. Excellent, knowledgeable service from the counter guys. We are not plumbers but needed to fix our leaky sink, and what we needed was not at the big box stores: and I'm not just referencing the part. If you need and want good quality customer service, this independent place has it.
Dawn M.We wanted to install a gas fire log set for an existing fireplace in a historic home built in 1923. Needless to say, our fireplace is LARGE, the two other bids we had from fancy fireplace stores were more than 5K. Our plumber, Brandon Kristel, told me to go to Burch and boy am I glad I did. Our gas set looks amazingly real, is a three burner system and our grand total including Brandon's labor was just under 2K.
Two of our neighbors have copied the exact same set-up and they are just as happy as we are. I'll never go anywhere else.
I recently bought a toilet here for my mom, how needed a special order powerflush . I shopped around and every local supply house told me 4 weeks minimum and prices were 150.00 higher than Burch AND I was able to get the toilet In 2 weeks. My mom was very pleased as time was her biggest concern. Will not go anywhere else in capital district and highly recommend.
Dan S.Chas G. Burch has been a real pleasure to do business with. We own a real estate brokerage in the Capital District and we also flip properties. We have used Chas G. Burch for all of our personal houses and all of our flips, for cabinets, counter tops, Jacuzzi tubs, faucets, hot water tanks, and all kinds of plumbing supplies.
We love the fact that they are a locally owned and family run business and being in business over 100 years, they are extremely knowledgeable and have a great showroom and selection .
Chuck and Danielle are the best and recommend them to all of our real estate clients for all their kitchen and bath designs.
We will continue to do business with them and recommend them in the future.
All the best

Project Price Range: $50,000 - $100,000
I am a real estate professional and we worked extensively with Chas Burch. We worked most with Mr. Chuck Craft on several projects in which he has handled our business with the upmost respect and professionalism. Many people give recommendations and reviews for unrealistic reasons but I can honestly say that Mr. Craft and his team at Chas Burch are honestly top notch and go above and beyond for all their customers. I've also use them for my personal home projects due to the amount of trust I have with them and the quality of work that they put into my projects. I would highly recommend them to the closest people in my family so I would definitely recommend them to anyone else looking for a company that's out for their interest and to give them a quality product at a great rate. Not only do they specialize in kitchen and baths but they also are available for many other projects for the household. I go through them for most of everything that we do on projects. Once again, highly recommended.
