I waited a while to write this review since I wanted to be fair. We replaced 3 units and a dehumidifier based on this company's recommendation, though all of the existing units were just over 5 years old. We also put all of the units on a maintenance contract. The service technician came in late July. In late August the unit that was exactly one year old and had just been serviced backed up and caused significant water damage to our home since we were out of town. We had the technician back out who said that the line was clogged. The company said that they had no responsibility for the damage since it was a """"freak accident"""". I cannot believe that they so not stand behind their work and I cannot recommend them at all.

I normally don't write reviews but felt I had to. I purchased a condo and began a complete gut and remodel (down to studs). My mechanical inspection failed and I found out that the previous owner had installed a new cooling system the year before, and somehow the permit was never closed out. Because I had gutted the condo, Charleston Heating and Air (who installed original unit) had to come out and reroute some duct work. They were super responsive to my problem and literally took care of me in less than a week. They were professional, timely and extremely fair on additional fees. I cannot recommend them enough. No one wants to be in a situation where they have to call a HVAC company for service. But when you have that need, Charleston Heating and Air is the company to deal with. Late last year my outdoor unit was frozen up so I decided to call CHA rather than another company who I had dealt with for years. The reason I went with CHA is due to the fact that I was familiar with them from their advertising in the local newspaper and they are a LOCAL company. The service technician, Brian, came out that day, assessed the problem, told me the costs, and had my heat up and running. They might be slightly higher than other companies but the quality service and satisfaction is worth it. I was impressed with their concern for my comfort. A very good business, I'm really glad I called them and will continue to use them in the future.

I called the other day praying they could send someone same day. Josh made it here in 2 hours and had my A/C problem diagnosed and fixed in less than half an hour. It was about $300 including the service call. I thought that was pretty cheap compared to living in an 80 degree house with my bride. Great work, showed up in a heartbeat and also went upstairs and cleared the drain line from the attic unit. I couldn't have asked for better. Highly recommend.

I was in DIRE need of HVAC service, called and was given an appointment promptly. Called the next day, 15 minutes after the technician was supposed to be there, and they had no record of my appointment and said they were unable to help me at the time. Needless to say, I was frustrated, and very very hot.

Buyer beware. Charleston Heating and Air is extremely expensive and will take advantage of uninformed consumers. I called them to diagnose a non working condensation pump for a mini split AC unit. For $89 a service tech came out to the house and confirmed by finding. I accept the service call fee as reasonable. To replace the pump they wanted to charge me $807 which they discounted from $955. They told me the part cost $207 and $600 for labor. We are talking about a part that just needs to be snapped in place and wired to a power panel (two screws) and connect the two discharge tubes. A trained technician should be able to replace in 20-30 minutes. I went online and purchased the exact replacement pump from Amazon for $134 delivered the next day. I gave Charleston Heat & Air a chance because they have consistently called me year after year soliciting my business and reviews looked good but did say they are more expensive. I didn't expect to be victimized by an unscrupulous operation.

My house was 87 degrees on a Wednesday They were quick to respond and show up . They arrived on Thursday.Late Wednesday night i flipped the breaker and cool air had started to blow but was only cooling to about 77. After 3 hours i was told i needed a new coil and i should shut the system off so i didn't blow my condenser. The tech wasn't sure if he had the part . I was told I'd be called Friday am when they found out about the part. No call Friday. I had to call them. I was told they'd let me know first thing Monday. All weekend no AC. My unit is 4yrs old and under warranty i might add. In the meantime i called another company. The other company came diagnosed the problem and stayed in contact with follow ups. On Tuesday Charleston heating and air called to let me know the coil would not be available for over a year and offered me a free quote on a new unit to get me cool again. A new unit ??? Thousands of dollars for a 4 yr old unit to be replaced. I went 4 days with no AC and no contact from the company for no reason at all. I feel like i was being taken advantage of. Thankfully i had asked around and several people told me this didn't seem right which is what led me to calling another company . Very glad i did .

Excellent professional crew installed in a difficult design downtown 2 story house that had already been renovated. Clean neat install at a good price that looked like quality craftsmanship when complete. Couldn't be more satisfied.

The person that came to our house was wonderful. Not only was the appointment process, easy, they showed up on time, A BIG THING WITH US! He was professional, kept the home clean while he did his work and made us feel like we were the only customer that day! We have had this company for some time and wouldn't go anywhere else! They are honest and make sure the heat or AC is always working. Great on repairs as well (although we haven't had many since they did the preventive on the units). Great job folks!!
