A complete ripoff. I called to schedule a washer/dryer installation. We were to provide all the parts. They were to only hook up the water and gas lines and the dryer vent. A representative came to do work and provide estimate. For a job which should take no more than a 1/2 hour, we received an estimate for $300 and an attitude to boot. Sent the representative on his way and another service charged less than half for 20 minutes of labor. Would never recommend this service. Look elsewhere.
Kimberly S.So, I'm sure I'm what's considered a nightmare client to this company. I made an appointment for an estimate for a project that I needed done, but completely forgot about it and missed the appointment. When I called to apologize, the office staff were understanding and rescheduled. In the interim, I had the project completed and planned to cancel thinking the appointment was tomorrow. This morning, their representative, I believe his name was Ed, knocked on my door, and I was horrified to say the least. He could have been a jerk given the fact that's he's been out here twice, but he was actually awesome! He even helped with a minor issue in the guest bathroom that I decided to address since I felt so bad about wasting his time...but then he didn't even charge me for it. After that he explained what services they provide and offered some possible solutions to some other issues that I brought up, including resetting the gfi for the bathroom outlets. He suggested coming up with a list of all known issues, so they could provide an estimate for all of it on the future visit. Great service! I will definitely be using their services in the future based off my experience with Ed today.
Michelle O.If a negative rating were available, that is what I would choose for Las Vegas Handyman.
In February 2018 my parents were given a quote to replace a set of exterior French doors. The work was started by Adam. He had no idea how to set the new doors, and both of them hung at different angles. There was a 1/2"" gap between the two doors which allowed dirt in, and heat/AC to escape. I called and expressed my disappointment with Dave. Dave arrived a few days later with Steve. The problem is that Adam had already begun staining the doors. Dave agreed that the doors were improperly ordered, and did not fit. He referred to the LVHM buyer situation as ""Screwed the pooch on this one."" Except, it's my parents that got screwed, and Dave doesn't care. We were told that since Adam had already begun staining the doors that my parents could not return the French doors that Adam had installed. Dave took Adam off the job and he was replaced by Steve.
We couldn't get a straight answer from Steve or Dave about when the work would be completed. Steve missed three appointments in a row - that Dave told me he was scheduled to work. Finally, in May 2018 (FOUR MONTHS LATER) I threatened to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. That phone call finally got Steve out to complete the job. He had to remove the new French doors so they could be sealed, and replace them with plywood doors (FOR 2 DAYS). There is still a 1/2"" gap between the new French doors and you can clearly see daylight through them. The weather stripping that was installed is clearly as inadequate as the size of the doors. The right door bows inward and is not flush with the left door. It's a horrible installation.
I would never recommend Las Vegas Handyman to anyone. Ever.
Stacy K.I used them before. Last time was a huge disappointment. Showed on friday and promised a Saturday or Monday return. No call...no show...then received a text late Monday that they didn't have the correct tools....what??? Didnt know that on original visit. Never ever again.....
Karen L.Mark, the handyman assigned to my project, was extremely polite and helpful. He installed wood blinds in 8 windows and cleaned up so well you wouldn't know he had been there.
this review is based strictly on pricing...I Got 4 estimates for a repair...3 of the estimates were 175.00, 200.00 and 225.00...L.V. Handyman wanted nearly $700.00....really???!!!...no thank you..maybe its because i live out of state and they wanted to take advantage of me...not sure
Barbara T.I was a loyal and satisfied customer of LVH for years but they've now 3 times no-showed on service windows, each with a different excuse, and none with any reparation or apology.
On January 25, 2018, my assistant booked a repair appointment with LVH for February 3 and received a window of 1-3 pm. My assistant reconfirmed on January 29. At 2:30, I called asking for the timing of my technician, and was told someone had been repeatedly calling me all morning. Why? To cancel? To reschedule? An appointment is an appointment. I was at a location with poor cell coverage and I received no call. Out of desperation to meet the home buyer's repair window, we rescheduled at great inconvenience for February 6. The tech showed that time and the work was $400 -- so I was not too small a job.
Thinking this was a one-time glitch, my assistant booked on March 5 an extensive appointment for Saturday, March 17, to hang all of my items on the wall in the new house. Service window received: 10-noon. At 11:45, I called and Dave told me that Dan, the service technician apparently assigned my job, didn't pick up his schedule and was in California. Again at personal inconvenience and desperation to get the work done, I rescheduled for Tuesday, March 20, for Dave's recommended 8-10 service window.
At 9:30 March 20, again stood up, I called LVH (who now answers the phone as ""service center"" or ""dispatch"" -- classy) and Dave told me now that he had the window as 10-12. I told him it was clear LVH didn't want or need my business and I'd never received apology for the multiple errors.
I used to rave about LVH -- sorry to say they've lost my business (and that of my friends).
Chief G.The thing I like most about Mike and his company is their integrity. I know I am always getting straight answers and quality work. Their overriding commitment to doing the right thing gives me peace of mind and makes it so easy to work with them. Much appreciated. And highly recommended!
Elena L.I own a busy house cleaning company and whenever one of our 3100 clients needs a handyman work, we always refer them to Las Vegas Handyman. They do solid work, are very ethical and honest. Our experience with them was exceedingly professional and simple. I highly recommend them to everyone I know.
PRICING CONCERNS REGARDING JOB PERFORMED ON 06/30/2014
NOTE: This is a repost of my original review submitted through Angie's List shortly after the events in question occurred.
I have used Las Vegas Handyman several times in the past and always have been extremely satisfied with the services rendered; see my prior reviews on Angie's List.
This was my very first encounter with Las Vegas Handyman under new ownership, specifically after its being bought out by/merging with Pro Handyman.
The first thing that I noticed when my Senior Craftsman - Ken McCloud - arrived to give me an estimate for the work that I wanted done was that pricing was no longer on a billable hour basis, but by the job. This makes for a much less transparent pricing experience for the consumer.
Previously, Las Vegas Handyman had a $80.00 to $90.00 hourly rate for labor plus supplies and you pretty much always knew how much something would cost based on how long it took to perform the work.
This is now no longer the case and the estimate provided of $1,373.00 for the aforementioned work did strike me as being on the high side, but since I needed to get this work done and had always been pleased as punch with Las Vegas Handyman in the past I accepted this proposal.
The work proceeded smoothly enough over the course of three days (several hours each day, never an entire day) and certainly appeared to be quite satisfactory initially as well as coming in at a final cost $50.00 below the initial estimate ($1,323.00 total).
The one problem that did develop occurred about 3.5 months later with the brownish wall stain/ peeling baseboard paint to the right of my shower door returning after the bottom of my shower had been newly caulked and the dry wall repaired by Las Vegas Handyman in late June 2014.
A return visit by Ken McCloud on 10/13/2014 determined this to most likely be water damage due to water seepage from my shower. I did naturally wonder why this potential problem wasn't noticed in late June 2014 during the initial services that were performed, especially since the bottom of the entire shower was newly caulked by this craftsman and any problems with shower tiles (loose, etc.) located there should have been noticed at that time to avoid having the wall damage recur.
In any case, this second follow-up visit resulted in the recommendation that my shower be properly retiled and waterproofed with wonder board to eliminate any water leakage problems that I might be having. The two estimates provided (I still have the copies.) made me feel all the more that the work that I already had paid for on 06/30/2014 was overpriced.
I received one estimate from Ken McCloud for only partial retiling of the shower - just what was needed - after tiles were removed and the surface underneath was inspected for $1,930.00 and a second estimate for retiling the entire shower for $2,512.00. Each of these estimates included the cost for once again repairing the wall damage as well as replacing the water-damaged baseboard near this area.
Now by doing a little research on the Internet, I was easily able to determine that the average cost for retiling a shower with 100 square feet of tile should cost right around $1,500.00. My shower is one-half this size, only about 50 square feet of tile needed, and thus should cost somewhere in the $700.00 to $800.00 range to redo completely.
Now this is quite outrageous, even the Las Vegas Handyman estimate for only partial retiling of my shower excessively exceeds this cost! I don't know whether this is established pricing policy at the new Las Vegas Handyman/Pro Handyman or whether this is specifically a craftsman-related pricing problem with each craftsman pricing projects for as much as he/she can get individual customers to pay.
I even still have an invoice from the old Las Vegas Handyman (prior to buyout) dating back to 01/07/2008 when a total of eight (8) rows of tiles on two walls were replaced in this very shower for a similar reason. It ended up costing me only $578.00.
Needless to say, I did not avail myself of Ken McCloud's kind offer to retile my shower and instead contacted another service provider on Angie's List.
Curt's Home Repairs, LLC completed this identical job which would have cost me somewhat more or less than $2,000.00 at Las Vegas Handyman for ONLY $369.00 (documentation available)!
This included the drywall repair, damaged baseboard replacement, proper waterproofing behind the removed tiles, application of grout, caulk and silicone throughout as well as replacing and adjusting the door seal to my shower door. A truly dramatic difference, what could be better than this? And everything has been absolutely waterproof and leak tight since this job was completed in late 2014.
