In June 2019 I purchased a year old AC Unit for $3500 from Champion HVAC and Plumbing, Wilfred Carter. I was told I had a 5 year warranty on the compressor and one year labor warranty. By April 2021, less than a year from the purchase, it was no longer working. Mr. Carter indicated that the unit was probably leaking freon due to a bad Air Compressor and indicated that it may need to be changed out (this was prior to him coming to diagnose the problem). He came and installed the air compressor on May 24th. He damaged my attic door. I let him know about the damages and he indicated that he would fix it. The next day I contacted him and let him know the temperature would not go down past 77 degrees. He indicated that he was working in Alabama and would call when he got back. I contacted him again on May 27th letting him know the unit was still not working and I was under warranty and also asked about the damage to my attic. He stopped responding. The following year, I had another leak in the system. When I contacted Mr. Carter on 6/10/22 and let him know about the problem, I refreshed his memory on who I was. He indicated that he was going to Aruba and would return on Monday. I contacted him Tuesday and he stopped responding. My Air Compressor is still under warranty and he refused to answer my calls. He did some research and determined he does not have a business license or a license with the conditioning air board. However, he is advertising like he is licensed. He posted an ad with license #Ga16467. I called another company Assured Comfort and Heating and Plumbing and they indicated that my system was incorrectly installed. The Air Compressor was mis matched from the AC Machine, and duct work was missing. I have attached their diagnoses. They also indicated that I need a new system. This company does not have a contractor's license or a business license.

On April 05,2023, I contacted Champion HVAC to come out to my home to diagnose my upstairs air conditioning unit that had stopped working. The technician stated that my unit was 20 years old and needed to be replaced. I agreed because an average ac unit last between 12 to 15 years. The technician asked for $500 deposit for the $4100 ac unit so that he could put in the order to purchase the unit and stated that he will be back tomorrow morning at 0730 to install the unit. On April 06, 2023, at approximately 7:25am, there was a loud banging on my front door. Not a normal knock, but a banging noise as if the police were about to raid my house. Of course, it turns out it was the technicians from Champion. Though, the guy that banged on my front door never considered that my family was still asleep and he woke them all up. I should have gotten a phone call from them stating that they were on their way to my home first. Okay, so they start working on installing my unit. Later, the lead technician tells me that I should replace my furnace because has rust and mold due to water leakage and condensation and he doesn't want to come out to my house again later to replace it. I agreed because you should normally replace the ac unit and the furnace at the same time. I was charged $1800 for the furnace. At approximately 1:35pm, they completed their installation of my new ac unit and furnace. I immediately went upstairs to try to sleep for a couple of hours before work that night. At approximately 4:30pm, I woke up and noticed that the temperature in my bedroom was warm. I checked the thermostat which was set for 70 degrees, but it showed the room temperature at 76 degrees. I got dressed for work and then called Champion HVAC to inform them about the problem. The technician stated that he will come out and check the unit. I told my wife to be expecting him while I was at work. Later, my wife called me and told that the technician came out and tinkered with our new system for almost two hours and then told her the thermostat was broken and he would charge us $175 for a new thermostat and $85 service charge for coming out to our house. I knew that there was nothing wrong with the thermostat and to charge us for coming out to fix a new unit that your company just installed was ridiculous. Most new ac installations come with a new thermostat, but the one we have upstairs isn't broken. On April 07, 2023, still there was no change. The unit wasn't working. While I was at work, I got a text message from the Champion technician asking me if the unit was working and I told him no it wasn't and that he knew it wasn't going to work. And I wasn't going to pay him anymore money to fix my new ac unit that his company just installed the day before. I immediately went to work after that because the environment got extremely busy. I am a Veterans Affairs Police Dispatcher and I had a missing mental health patient and two suicidal ideation cases to deal with. Champion HVAC called me, but I couldn't answer the phone while I'm in dispatch and I was too busy to text either. After about 11:00pm I was able to check my text messages and missed phone calls. The text messages from the Champion technician seemed to be irate with me and that he was playing the victim in this case. Nothing in his text messages said anything about being sorry that they inconvenienced us or asked when it would be a good time to come out and fix the unit. I decided to get a second opinion from another company because I had lost trust in Champion. A week later, on April 13, 2023, a technician from Coolray Heating & Cooling came out to my house to do a diagnostic on my new unit. The technician found that my unit needed a new transformer. The original transformer on the new furnace had blown and the Champion technicians had tried to replace it with another transformer, and it was blown as well (please see photos). Also, the ductwork around my furnace was pulled out and the wiring outside by the ac unit was in disarray and not neat. The estimate for the new transformer was $877.97, minus the $79.00 service fee for the diagnostic. I went ahead and purchased the new transformer because I didn't want my family to suffer any longer and be able to sleep in their beds. The new transformer part came in and was installed on April 18, 2023, and the ac unit has been working perfectly. I still have not heard anything back from Champion HVAC at this time. May 26, 2023, there was water leaking from my upstairs ceiling. I shut off the air conditioner and called Coolray back out to our home. The technician discovered that Champion didn't install the water safety cut off which prevents water from overflowing from the furnace. This costs me another $601.00 because Champion did not respond after being informed about the water safety and water damage. The worst thing about this company is that they are masquerading as a Black owned, Veteran owned company!!

Transaction started out routinely enough, but when a problem started with the completed job, this guy would not come by and try to resolve the issue. Issue could be minor, we don't know. I've called and texted, no response. I refuse to beg anybody to be a legitimate business owner. Next stop, small claims court. DO NOT F--K with this guy.
