When our unit stopped cooling effectively at the end of the summer, we called Champion first, based on a neighbor's thumbs up and a casual scan of reviews. They were able to get a guy out super-quickly. He seemed courteous and professional, and quickly diagnosed that we were several pounds low on R410A coolant.

From there the experience was not so great. The tech seemed more interested in selling us a new system (ours was a 10 year old Lennox, installed with a new build, with theoretically 5+ years potential life left on it). When I asked for options, he quoted me a $451 leak test, or a $1324 "leak seal" (that might not work) with 3 lbs of coolant. Oh, and if I bought a "membership" for $180/yr, then the leak seal that might not work/coolant would drop to the bargain price of $1033!!! The vibe was definitely not "let's get your problem solved in the best way," it was "let's give this guy some pricey quotes and maybe he'll just buy a new system".

I just wasn't feeling it. I sent him away, ate the $89 trip charge, and called 3 other places.

Glad I did. Quickly found that competitors offered better service, honest conversations about my options and the pros/cons of each, and no icky sales vibe. Oh, and dramatically better prices. I paid $129 for a sniffer leak test--including the trip charge (vs. $451+$89 for Champion)--which immediately pinpointed the problem as a leaky evap coil. And pro tip: before you call a company out, ask for their R410A coolant price/pound over the phone. It's a great barometer for the kind of company you're dealing with (and ranged from $100-140/lb for other companies--no BS membership required--vs. $210/lb for Champion).

You can see my other reviews for the companies we used and would recommend for future service or installs. Based on my experience, Champion will not be on that list.

Our technician, Angel, was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond to help us get our AC repaired during the hot summer. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Answered all my questions and even helped us save money by explaining how their membership worked. The call representative was also very sweet and helpful. 10/10 all around.

Kudos, to the Champion AC/Plumbing team of HVAC technicians, Juan Montalvo, Long Pham, and Ti, who inspected our 14 year old A/C system, and due to fatal defects found, proposed and installed a new 5-ton HVAC unit last week. The decision to buy a new system was made on Wednesday afternoon and the installation was begun Friday morning and completed by 3;30 p.m. on Friday. Juan conducted the inspection and proposed/explained the new system in detail. Long and Ti began the installation at 8 a.m. Friday and worked quickly and efficiently to install the system. From inspection to proposal and to project completion, the team was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. Five stars to Juan, Long, Ti, and Champion!

Kudos to Sean Keppler, a Champion AC/Plumbing technician, who installed a new 50 gal water heater and replaced multiple on/off valves throughout our 40 year old house. Unexpected, Sean voluntarily worked late on Friday to replace a residential cut-off valve that was discovered to be unserviceable as he was restoring the water flow after completing all other repairs. Sean was personable, thorough, professional, quick, and efficient. Five stars to Sean and Champion!

Buying a house and needed to set up an AC inspection called them explained the situation and they said no problem. I actually called 3 times the previous day and fully explained the situation they said no problem we will be out in the morning. Next day I call to confirm the time and the woman I spoke to informs me she can't legally inspect the house because I called and set up the appointment not the actual home owner. I fully understand legality but this was all discussed the day prior they were fully aware of the situation when I called and would have come out if I hadn't called to confirm. This wouldn't be an issue if I had time to re schedule but I'm on a time crunch with closing and this company potentially lost me 10 to 30k dollars all because they have zero communication in their office. I personally will never use them if they can't get an inspection right how are you supposed to trust them to communicate and complete a bigger job with more moving pieces?
Update: they called me back and hung up. I called them back and they said " Oh yeah if you can get the owners to call us we can do it" I had already set up everything through our realtors the day prior so now I have to try and get everything together again in less than an hour because you screwed up. No I'm good! Save yourself the headache of dealing with this company.

Bill Pass is the man. He really knows what he's doing. The whole company is super legit. They did a complete HVAC system install on an insanely hot day, worked all day and late into the evening. And when there was a complication, they knocked $500 off the price. It was a hard job and the complications must have been a massive headache, but every person on the team was friendly and polite and professional. Bill checked in several times when the job was done. Our new system is purring through this heat dome like there's no such thing as climate change. Champion has our business through the coming apocalypse.

From the very start I knew this was a great company. I have used Champion for other things and always had great service. This time I needed a complete HVAC system. The knowledge and expertise was extremely obvious when I sat down with Eddie. I was not rushed into a decision, I was able to take my time to get other opinions. The crew was on time and did such an amazing job from start to finish. Inside and out. Despite the grueling job they had they were always pleasant and polite. They cleaned up nicely afterwards and my whole system was torn out and replaced in one day! I can not say enough about Champion. They are always there to help in any way and are quick to respond. I will always use Champion for all my AC and Plumbing needs!!
