It was becoming apparent that we would need to eventually have our apartment building get a re-pipe job soon. We've had leaks before but during the past year, we experienced a few pin hole leaks occurring more frequently and becoming increasingly worrisome. A couple of slab leaks and then some leaks on a cold water line...Obtained quotes from several companies but decided on going with Challenge Plumbing. We were uneasy about the entire process going into it as we had never done this before, but the crew that did the actual copper pipes was very hard working & reassuring. Manny was great as you can sense that he was a seasoned leader of the crew who knew exactly what he wanted done. He communicated anything that could be of concern to me and/or the tenants to make sure it was ok with how he planned to proceed -which was great as I don't like to deal with any unexpected surprises. Jose was there to help reassure that the process went as smoothly as possible - he'd usually let me know at the beginning of the day to let me know the next steps. They were careful to cover the floors & have plastic coverings daily whenever they needed to go in to do any work

One of the concerns we had was when we had to have the walls patched, there were a couple workers from that crew who didn't have masks on (during COVID)... one our the tenants is elderly & we wanted to be assured that they would minimize exposure for them unnecessarily. Offered the workers a mask but saw they didn't really wear them correctly...

There were a couple of hiccups when trying to find out from the office what was going on if one of the crews didn't show up. Didn't appreciate that the receptionist would say they would get me an update and call back but never followed thru. It'd be good if they could just call back and let you know that they're not coming that day. would happen that the workers would come later or sometimes not at all (depending on the scheduling of the crews) so just keep in mind that it could be

Aside from that, much of the crew was pretty polite and respectful so in hindsight, we felt that the overall work was satisfactory. Although the project took a lot longer than was estimated. It was estimated to be done within 8-10 days...but it took a little over a month to get it all coordinated & finished. It was a bit stressful for the tenants because it took longer than expected but after all is said & done and in the long run, it's relieving to know that the leaky pipe issues are good, for now at least!!

I would not recommend Challenge plumbing to anyone who looks for a responsible and knowledgeable company to install water heater replacement. I worked with this company in the past it was a responsive company. Since the original owner past away the company was handed down to someone else who has no customer understanding and knowledge to troubleshoot new water heater installation issue. Most recently my home water heater went sour so I called up Challenge to replace the water heater. They were prompt in the installation but when the newly installed water heater developed issue Challenge did not respond to my phone call nor emails. Finally after many attempts Challenge responded, sent a person to look at the newly installed water heater and declared that Challenge can not go any further. I was told to contact the water heater manufacturer directly to try to resolve the water heater issue. I paid Challenge for the water heater but when issue came up Challenge did not resolve the issue for me. After spending countless hours in calling the manufacturer AO Smith, the issue was finally resolved by plumbing companies here in the Los Angeles Basin who have the knowledge of how the AO Smith water heater works. Challenge plumbing did NOTHING and has no one who understand water heater defects. It is an ignorant company who only knows how to connect pipes. Do NOT use Challenge plumbing if you need a company that knows how a water heater works. If I could give a NEGATIVE star, I would do so without a second thought!!

I hope a potential repipe customer reads this and make them loose a few tens of thousand in dollars because they came into my apartment and vandalized my stuff, management does not follow thru to help resolve, be careful you and your belongings will not respected

Challenge Plumbing was COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL and had NO desire to help me by providing confirmation of work that they did in my apartment, because I am a tenant, and not the property owner. It's not illegal to give tenants information about work done in their apartment, so they are deliberately obstructing me from seeking justice for wrongs done to me by the owner of my apartment. I'm a tenant who came home from a week long vacation to find that there was a huge water pipe leak under my apartment. Through my terrible property management company, Challenge Plumbing came out to temporarily fix it and verbally told me that there was a ""straight galvanized steel to copper connection without a dielectric fitting or the proper length of brass, creating electrolysis, which corroded the pipes (the pipes being from the 1930s), causing multiple pinhole leaks that have probably been leaking worse and worse since before I moved in."" Fast forward to 2 months later, and I'm forced to sue my owner in small claims for a month's rent because it took her that long to remove mold that had started growing in my bedroom because of the pipe leak, and the owner is denying Challenge Plumbing came out or that there was even a pipe leak at all!. All I wanted was for Challenge to send me an email confirming that there was a pipe leak and that they temporarily fixed it. That's it. I wasn't even asking for them to write down the ILLEGAL piping that the owner of my property has been using. After 4 calls spanning 3 days, the manager, AJ, finally took my call. He was EXTREMELY CURT AND RUDE on the phone, not even wanting to hear about my situation. I am floored that he would dismiss my call, claiming that they're policy is to only deal with homeowners, especially considering they didn't win the business of re-piping my entire apartment, which is what is happening now. California is a strong proponent of tenant's rights, and we have a right to know the condition of the apartments we are living in. I have no choice but to take this to the courts to make sure that homeowners, and the maintenance vendors they hire, stop taking advantage of their tenants. I suggest you go elsewhere for your plumbing needs. The manager of Challenge Plumbing has ZERO regard for human decency, and there are plenty of legit plumbing companies in LA to choose from.

I've just been on the phone with Albert, who identified himself as the owner of Challenge Plumbing, and he refused to help me with a problem I had. His crew witnessed the nightmare mess in my second bedroom, which made it impossible for them to get to the wall they needed to open in order to copper pipe my bathroom. My alcoholic ex-roommate had locked himself in there for nearly two weeks and there were literally hundreds of empty beer bottles, vodka bottles, food trash etc. that had to be cleared out before they could do their work. I asked Albert to have Manuel (the lead guy doing the work here) or one of his guys to testify in writing that they had seen this, and Albert refused! It reminds me of Schultz from ""Hogan's Heroes"" ... ""I know nothing!"" I will supply the court with the name of the plumbing company and Manuel's name, but in the meantime, $#@% Challenge Plumbing! : (

I called because we have a slow main sewer line. I told the person when I called that we don't have an outside cleanout and that we would need to pull the toilet to run the snake. She said no problem and quoted $85-135. When the technician arrived he said he couldn't pull the toilet because it might crack and he didn't want to be responsible. He said we needed to install a cleanout before he could work on it. He quoted $1650.

I know I should have a cleanout installed (a previous contractor failed to install one when he replaced the sewer line).but I felt that he was trying to take advantage of the situation. He should have offered to pull the toilet and cleanout the line when I declined to have he cleanout installed today. I told him that it was a relatively new sewer line (4 years and we successfully had it cleaned from the toilet access. Very disappointing.

I've used Challenge Plumbing for three separate jobs (full repipe of a 6-unit condo building, fixing a major issue with tree roots growing into old plumbing, and moving a gas line to convert a wood burning fireplace to gas), and they've done an outstanding job every single time. They are professional, friendly, and efficient. If I ever had another plumbing issue I would undoubtedly call them again.

This family owned-business is a place you can trust. I've hired them to fixed something as simple as the broken flusher on a toilet to repiping my entire house. Every job was executed beautifully. They are professional, efficient, courteous and give you the lowest price out there on the market. I would definitely trust them in my home and I don't just let anyone in. Call these guys, they can solve any plumbing issue in the book!
