Nice folks but beware of the crazy cost! $304 for less than an hour of work in our house and a new wax ring.

I called to repair a leaking toilet and evaluate the water heater they installed a year earlier. Technician fixed the toilet quickly. Not so knowledgeable on water heater. I had to find the manual to help him determine the error code. Technician left 'hoping' cleaning the filter corrected problem. Shocker and ALERT came when he presented the bill for $304! You will get billed based on the driver's GPS - when the technician leaves the previous worksite and when they leave yours. You get billed for their time in the truck keying in the information in their computer program and doing whatever else they are do out there. As you can imagine keying in info an ipad is probably not their forte but you do pay for it. Our technician was in the truck for ~20 minutes so you may want to have your teenager help type. It may save you $50. Also don't chat, again it will cost you!

Beware I was billed $255 per hr for a emergency service rendered on a Saturday. the job was a 3 hr job and a 2nd tech fee was added because the 1st tech did not have part to complete the job. Instead of going to LOWES WHICH IS AROUND CORNER! The 2nd tech was dispatched and the owner felt it justified to bill me for that tech. I was billed $863.16 for this job, I requested several times a invoice of break down of charges and have yet to receive. The 2nd tech delivered part and requested my credit card information, and I was billed for this why? OVER PRICED COMPANY! I have called other companies in Carlisle, the average cost would have been $500!!! I CALLED CENTRAL PENN AND MELISSA TO DISCUSS A REASONABLE COST AND MELISSA SD THEY DON'T NEGOTIATE AND SHE WILL SEND ME TO COLLECTIONS!

I recently had a furnace issue and lost heat. I hadn't used central penn plumbing before and a neighbor recommended them. The receptionist was super friendly and called me back right away. The technician- forgot his name came and fixed the issue within a few hours and we were back up and running! I'm not a huge shop around person because I believe you"" get what you pay for "" in life. I value service and efficiency. Kudos to the central penn team!

Service was very prompt! Our problem was diagnosed and repaired quickly. The bill was surprisingly less than I expected! The service techs were courteous and took great care to make sure that they didn't track mud or snow into the house. Overall a very positive experience, under difficult circumstances. I would highly recommend Central Penn Plumbing!

Called about fixing a broken line in one of my rentals at about 1pm. The nice receptionist said a plumber would be able to come out later that day, but was unsure about time. I said fine but was uncomfortable about her vagueness. I then asked if they were later would they charge after-hour's rates. She said yes and quoted something horrendous. If I hadn't asked, she wouldn't have told me & I would have been ripped off. Beware of plumbers in Mechanicsburg!

They did the work after many false starts and delays which cost me time from work. The work done was acceptable but I have seen much better. I was told that the work would be a long day but it was done way early. Normally this would be good but it was a rush job. Necessary, promised and needed corners were cut. The work looks rushed and there was no allowance made for the shorter day. I can't recommend them. If you use them get it ALL down in writing.

My unit stopped working unexpectedly during a hot spell. The person on call called me within an hour and we agreed it wasn't an emergency that needed to be taken care of at 10 and that they could come out the next morning. The next morning came and no one called. I waited 4 hours into their working time when I had to call. The lady then tried to put me after everyone who had called that morning even though I called the night before. When the technician came he was great and fixed the system. We agreed I would like a quote on a new system. It is even written on my invoice they owe me pricing. He took pictures and said someone would follow up. It has been at least a month and not one follow up.

After reading our review, the owner of the company contacted us. He apologized, said the technician didn't follow protocol, and our money was refunded. This company did work on our house in the past, and this was the first time we had a problem.

Jon from Central Penn Plumbing Services is a true professional. He diagnosed the issue with our furnace and had us back up and working in less than an hour. If you need heating or plumbing work done, call them with confidence.

Have used Central Penn for both preventative maintenance and plumbing repairs, and they are very professional and note pricing up front. Based on previous experience and calling around to other plumbers, I believe their preventative maintenance is reasonably priced ($125 for 'spring maintenance'). For repairs, they charge a 'trip fee' ($65 at the time of this writing) just to come to diagnose the problem, which again, is about in line with industry standards (some plumbing companies I called were a little cheaper while others were more expensive), though I did find one area plumbing company that will waive their trip fee if they do the repair (David Long in New Cumberland). To me, that's the most reasonable policy.

We recently had Central Penn come out to the house due to an issue with our shower plumbing. The handle to turn the water on/off became impossible to turn in one direction. The issue was diagnosed as a bad cartridge, and the technician had the correct part to fix it, which he did in about 15 minutes. At the same time, we had him check our kitchen faucet, which had also had some leaking. This got a little more complicated because of a 'nut' that wouldn't release (no fault of Central Penn), and the technician had to call the manufacturer for instructions because the faucet was under warranty. Acting upon those instructions, we had to wait a day or so for a part to come in, and the initial attempt to make the repair failed (as the technician had suspected it might), so the tech called Moen again to get a different part. Unfortunately, at this point, the kitchen faucet was no longer useable. To make a long story short, due to a large party we were having over the weekend and the lack of availability of a tech to fix the problem prior to said party, I ended up doing the repair myself with the part Moen had shipped to the plumber (I live about 10 minutes from the business, so was able to pick it up), and ultimately, I paid Central Penn about $330 and the only thing we had to show for it was the repaired shower handle (again, a 15 minute job). Throughout the process, the technician was professional and worked with the manufactuer directly rather than making me contact them, which was appreciated, though I did end up having to talk to them myself to get the parts delivered prior to the weekend party (not knowing Central Penn wouldn't be available to do the fix until afterward).

In summary, Central Penn was quick to respond to our call, very professional, and discussed pricing up front, but in the end, we paid quite a bit of money and had little to show for it, so we'll probably give someone else a try next time those dreaded words ""honey, call the plumber"" are uttered in the house. In general, a cheaper route is to use a plumber who is not part of a larger company, but then you will likely not get the response time required to fix the issue quickly.

Update 4/14 - Owner of the company, working with Moen, has offered us a new faucet free of charge because he wasn't happy with how this situation was handled. It's the effort companies apply in trying to keep customers happy that separates one from another. Don't know if we'll go for the new faucet, but I've changed my previous opinion, and we'd certainly be willing to use Central Penn again.
