Oh, this ...

DO NOT CALL THESE CROOKS.

1. This is some sort of shady plumber subcontracting dispatch service. After calling this company, the plumber who arrived did not even recognize the name ""Central Park North Plumbing and Heating"". This was problematic after I felt the need to call the company to speak about his service. Why did I need to make such a call, you ask?

2. After being given an initial time that the plumber would show up (for an EMERGENCY plumbing situation), you might understand my frustration when he casually arrived OVER THREE HOURS LATE. Nonetheless, given the disaster in my bathroom, I was glad to see him. Until...

3. Homeboy went back to my bathroom, then began asking me if I just wanted him to unclog the toilet or if I wanted him to fix the pipe or both. I explained to him that I had already received an estimate from the dispatcher over the phone for him to clean the mess by unclogging and replacing the pipe. The estimate: $180. Sounded expensive, but I guess plumbing is a good business, and I needed it. But homeboy then informed me that this would cost $235 just to unclog the toilet, and that he would have to charge extra for the pipe replacement. How much? It depended on what place was open, he replied. So this plumber did not even arrive with this very standard toilet pipe, and after arriving over three hours late, expected me to then wait for him to leave for a hardware store and come back to overcharge me even more. At this point I called Central Park North Plumbing and Heating, which brings me back to complaint #1.

As homeboy and the dispatcher were talking on my cell phone, I told him to hang up. I paid him the $235 (which was more than the estimate for less than the promised work) and told him to get out of my apartment. And do you know what? I went to the local hardware store and the pipe cost between $2.99 - $7.99.
