We had Central Oregon Heating and Cooling install a ductless heating system at our vacation rental property in Central Oregon in late December. The installation met our expectations. However, communications issues prior to the installation left something to be desired. For starters, they told us in writing on our contract that the unit was eligible for an $800 rebate, when it turned out the amount was only $500. We also had communication problems regarding start times on the day of installation (even though I called the day before to confirm) and importantly, on the location for both the external and internal units. The poor communication issues made us have to relocate the unit with the additional expenses of repair of holes in the interior sheetrock and the problem with placing the unit in the correct location on the outside wall. All the additional costs for repairs and the lack of correct rebates amounts added up to hundreds of dollars that we did not expect to spend.
Leon came out for annual inspection of a relatively new unit. Perfectly fine service and work - friendly and clean, didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need.
Keola W.Lookout for this place! My landlord was dealing with this company to fix our furnace, they came out, said they needed to order a part. 12 days later, part just happened to arrive after a review left on FB and another phone call from myself. Asked how long they had it, claimed it just came through the door and it was on someone's desk. Not sure what to think, but I know if I needed heat again during the middle of winter this will be the last place we'd call. Also, at the end of the conversation with Savannah, I asked for the owners name which she replied there's just ""managers"" so I asked for the manager's name and all she would say is Jimmy, I asked for a last name and she refused. Why they can't give out a full name to the GM of a company is beyond me and lets me know how sketchy they really are. Hopefully this helps someone!
My husband I decided it was time to stop using our cadet heaters, we were not sure what route to take. After careful consideration and design by COHC we decided to put in a whole house heat pump system. It has been two years and we could not be more happy with the decision! The whole house is comfortable, staying the same temperature and our electric bill has always been more than reasonable (Saving us money). The installation passed with flying colors and the incentive money really helped off set the initial installation cost. A nice note to touch on, we have not had any issues with the system. We just replace the filter and stay comfortable.
Rebecca F.They were great to work with and the heating system we have now is amazing. Nick was easy to get ahold of. Everything was done in a timely manner and it looks great!
Going to make this as short and sweet as possible. If you want a company that goes the extra distance to make sure you are a happy camper on your HVAC, these are your guys and gals in Bend, Oregon and the surrounding areas. Very professional and they do what they say they are going to do. Had just a small issue, and the owner Katie and her staff took care of that right away. Kathie stayed in contact with me to be sure all was completed to my satisfaction and she personally gave the time and attention that was over and above right the first time service. They have earned my business. Maybe they can do the same for others given the chance. Only wish they could also take care of our other house in AZ as well.
Beware worst years trying to get a heating a system in our new home, building out of pocket has taken a couple years to build ..Oregon Central was aware of this since the beginning. .Haven't moved in and was told the furnace they recommend in the beginning will not work with the heat pump, we need to upgrade, cut open my brand new sheet rock and put in another system. .hasn't gotten any better warrenty work will cost $600 in labor to fix.. called another company they came out, no problem, it was wired WRONG. .Buyers beware, they have techs with no knowledge
I should have read some reviews before calling Central Oregon Heating & Cooling. They were available that day while the company I should have waited was busy for a couple days. My heat pump was would not cool. The tech first thing he did was squirt refrigerant into his eye. He checked the run capacitor but not the start capacitor. He would not try to start the compressor because he said it would instantly become ruined if the refrigerant was low by trying to start it for a second. He hooked up the pressure gauges and said the refrigerant was low. He wanted around $900 to fix a leak and then $130/pound of refrigerant for up to 6 pounds.
For almost $2000, I wanted a second opinion. I called up Airtech who then came out and determined the compressor start capacitor was not even checked (which is the main cap to get the motor to start). He stated you can't check to see if the refrigerant was low without starting the compressor (which is what I thought as I have worked on auto AC systems). He tested the compressor and found out it was frozen. I had Airtech replace the Heat pump and when they evacuated the system, there was over 5 lbs of refrigerant. It was not low. If I had taken Central Oregon Heating diagnostic, I would of wasted almost $2000 trying to fix a leak that did not exist.
I am glad I did not do any further business with them.
V H.Perhaps the worst service we ever had
We had the misfortune to sign up for the yearly maintenance, every time we have them check our system something is wrong. The final invoice usually reads $300 plus This is a company who takes advantage of people who work hard and just would like things to work properly So consumers be very careful dealing with this company.
Beware! We called out a tech because our fan broke on our fire place. I was charged $90 just for the guy to tell me ""the fan broke on your fire place"". He gave me an estimate of $500 for the repair and if I did not sign and agree to it then it would be an additional fee for him to drive back out ($30 more to cover his gas) plus $100 extra for not becoming a member?!? I asked if he had the part on him to fix it...No. So I asked ""wouldn't you need to drive back out anyway?"" Challenging the $30 gas fee. The worker was extremely rude. I questioned the cost to fix it because it seemed really expensive. Don't forget he already charged me $90 just to tell me what I already knew. Then he left saying ""well your husband can't fix it""
Folks we went on YouTube to find a tutorial on how to fix a broken fire place fan, found the part on eBay for $50, and my husband fixed it himself. Bam. We saved ourselves $630 plus dollars!!!!
Do not trust this company!
