they are lazy, unreliable, and the woman that works in the office is extremely rude.

Our brand new front loading washer was making the most horrific noise and walking all over the place.
This was incredibly frustrating, the vibration was so loud and scary.
I called Bosch for service , the technician right away said, ""I bet installer didn't remove the transit bolts.""
Technician was correct, and he was pretty appalled that a licensed plumber (that is who installed it) didn't know or forgot to do that. transit bolts are HUGE and hard to miss.
The technician also told me that our machine was likely to have been permanently damaged, and that its life may be shorter than usual due to months of abuse
(i.e. running it with these bolts in place.)

We would never use Centa again

I've used Centa twice - once for a toilet repair and once for a boiler tuneup. Yes they are pricey but they are professional, courteous, knowledgeable and skilled. They did not try to sell me on anything, were on time, clean, pleasant and got the job done.
I will note that the toilet repair did require a revisit as after they had installed the new part a few days later it started to leak when it had not been leaking before. But they promptly came back at a time that was convenient for me and took care of the problem under their work guarantee. They are human. Sometimes you can't see when things don't line up the right way until you use it for a bit. But they took ownership of the job and made it right. I will use them again.

We recently had a mystery leak coming through the ceiling into our basement so I called Centa because they were local. I was pleasantly surprised by the entire process.

Since I made the call well after 5PM I expected I would be leaving a message with a machine but a real person picked up and took my info and said a technician would call me back shortly- and they did! I explained the situation they recommended a temporary solution and scheduled to come out early the next morning.

By 8AM the next morning I saw the Centa truck outside my house. The technician that came in was professional and courteous. He did his best to make as little mess as possible and when he was done he cleaned up the vast majority of the mess. He had brought his own drop cloths for example, though we put down our own before he got here it was good to see how prepared he was.

Having read the reviews here first I was a bit concerned how much the bill would be in the end. Luckily for us it was a relatively simply fix once the cause was found but it took a while to find. I thought the final bill was fair and did not feel overcharged.

It is a bit weird when I was handed the bill I was also handed a one page leaflet which explains why the bill can be more expensive than you expect. It seemed weird but it did include a coupon for next time so that was a plus.

Overall I was very happy with the service from start to finish.

My company required a letter from Centa Plumbing to state that a job was completed and the scope of work so that we can present to the Department of Buildings. After having reached out to Lucinda, the ""receptionist"" at least 5x, I had to get in to my car and drive to their office and physically get the letter myself (which was just sitting on the printer).

I cannot express how ridiculously rude she was! She kept speaking over me while i was trying to explain our position and how urgent it was (without this letter, we could not do ANY work in our building). Not only did she keep speaking over me loudly, she put me on hold for long periods of time 4x to answer other calls. When she came back on the line, she kept speaking over me and then HUNG UP on me twice! Nothing was being resolved. Seriously? I had to leave my office and show up at her door to end this!

Needless to say, no matter how good a company's work might be, customer service and problem solving skills are a must.

I had to replace two toilets in my house and replace a broken pipe in my kitchen. Centa made time in an emergency when one of my toilets was leaking from the base. Lou and his staff are all considerate and friendly.

Don't waste your money on Centa.

My wife called Centa to come snake our bathtub drain. The guy that showed up didn't even know what he came to fix. He tried to snake it but did not manage so he tried our sinks but never got to fix it. One hour later he left, the drain was never fixed but he charged us 217$ FOR NOTHING. Steer clear of this company. I will never use Centa again.

Used these guys twice within the last two months.

I had to replace my water heater and then I needed to replace my kitchen faucet.

They showed up in the time frame the dispatcher gave me (between 8:30am and 11:00am). They were friendly and did the job that was required without any additional ""extra's"".

A little pricey, but the service was on par, so you can't complain.

Will use them again when needed in the future.

Why is there no option for ZERO stars?
What a shame that the owner thinks he can talk to his customers in a rude, demeaning way. I had what turned out to be a SIMPLE issue with my dishwasher (the filter was slightly clogged and I was asked to wash it out!). The technician was here for around 30 minutes (during which he left twice to find parking) and what does the owner charge me? $195 plus tax. I asked them to lower the price because 1) I'm a repeat customer (I even have a quote in with them to do a $750 job in the future) and 2) it was such a simple, quick job. He cut the price by $10 and the tax. I was so upset that I called the answering service again (that's how I was communicating with him) and said that he just lost a customer with that kind of price. He then calls me directly and tells me in a snide way that he is the owner of a licensed, professional plumbing service. Thank you, that's why I called you and that's why I've used you three times and that's why I even recommended you to someone in my condo. So when I tell him that I'm shocked about the price, he cuts me off and tells me that he's shocked that I'm complaining. Again, with such smugness, he says, ""That's the cost of running a business in NYC."" It's amazing that people think they're the only ones trying to make a living in this city. My family runs a small business in Queens as well and let me tell you, we have NEVER spoken to a customer this way (yes, even the difficult ones), especially repeat customers (who live in large condos and might want to recommend my work to other people in said condo). What a shame and what a really stupid way to run your business. If you need plumbing work done, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Sure, there's a lot of talk about how some plumbers overcharge you, but at least call someone who will do it without being utterly rude, pompous, and unprofessional.

After the carbon monoxide detector in my house indicated a hazard, and after calling 911, the firefighters suggested I get my old oven serviced. I turned off the gas and pilot for the oven, overnight, and still had high readings for carbon monoxide. Unsure of who to call, I was fortunate to find Centa Plumbing & Heating's website which clearly states that they can inspect your appliances for common conditions causing this problem. Lou Primiano was courteous (he called to let me know he was in traffic and on his way), respectful, professional and attentive. He patiently listened to the details of the problem, and then walked me through a thorough process of elimination, testing for carbon monoxide throughout the house. Sometimes service professionals are condescending or uncommunicative; Lou was helpful and friendly. This matters to me as the owner of an old ""it's always something"" house who has had too many people treat me rudely while trying to take my money. Lou referred me to a chimney inspector when we narrowed down the problem. His price ($150) was very fair, both for his expertise, and for coming on short notice. I highly recommend this business. If I need plumbing or heating work in the future, I am relieved to have found a reliable company.
