Extremely Disappointed - Poor Installation and Zero Accountability

I had a brand-new HVAC system installed by Cellino HVAC on Friday, March 28, 2025, and the experience has been an absolute nightmare. From day one, there were red flags. The techs burned the new pad while soldering at an excessively high temperature, then had to repress fittings that didn't catch the first time - a major no-no in HVAC work.

Two days later, the system started making an incredibly loud noise, like an explosion or as if a car crashed into my house. I called immediately, and a tech came out Monday, March 31st. Without even pulling out gauges to check the pressure, he guessed there was probably a leak in the lines. Not reassuring at all.

The next day, April 1st, they attempted to vacuum and refill the system with no success. It was then discovered that they had installed the wrong coil - one that was too small for the condenser, causing dangerously high pressure. Carrier confirmed the mistake. They tried to replace it but were told halfway to the supplier that the correct coil wasn't available. The next day (Wednesday), they returned with a new coil and spent the entire day trying to clean the lines with nitrogen and vacuuming - again, with no success.

Thursday, yet another team came and did the exact same thing, still with no resolution. Finally, Friday, April 4th, they reinstalled everything - a new coil, line set, and condenser. That's six full days of me being out of work, and not once did anyone offer a discount, refund, or any kind of compensation for the time and stress.

To top it off, the final install was just sloppy. One tech stripped all the screws on the coil because he couldn't be bothered to align the lid properly and just forced the screws in with a drill. He dented the side of the brand-new coil and bent the plenum completely out of shape with bulges and leaks everywhere. Instead of fixing it with new metal, he just slapped on tape like that was an acceptable solution.

Cellino HVAC's workmanship, communication, and customer care are unacceptable. I regret hiring them at this point. I called the HVAC manager with my concerns especially how they completely destroyed my back yard and wasted 6 days of me working and he could care less and said oh well it's ""Buffalo Weather"". How about if it was installed properly the first time my yard wouldn't he destroyed. He didn't even bother to offer to fix it. I had to call back and speak to some other manager who at least tried to hear me out. I have yet to even receive the new warranty email for the new coil and condenser they installed. Hopefully I get that next week.

If anyone bothers to read this I would appreciate my warranty email, someone to please come level out and reseed my yard and at least try to justify my time spent and the stress this caused me. And actually have someone fix the plenum properly and not just hide it with tape. Not to mention not allow workers to vape in someone's home and cover my stairs and basement with mud

timely, knowledgeable, and efficient. If I could give them six stars, I would. We were given first time customer and senior discount. Also given a call later to make sure that our heat was working properly.

I really didn't want to leave a negative review for a local business, but unfortunately due to a recent experience I have no other choice. I have given the company multiple chances to make this right, but they have continued on a downward spiral of negligence and excuses.

I originally chose Cellino based on a recommendation. My initial experience was excellent: I contacted Cellino regarding a furnace issue, and the team provided exemplary service. Based on that experience, I trusted them for an HVAC project in my greenhouse. On September 6, a representative named Chris came out to provide an assessment. He spent a substantial amount of time taking measurements, photographs, and assured me that Cellino was well-equipped for this type of project. He took photographs of the equipment we had on site and Chris noted he had ""a lot of homework to do"" but would provide a quote shortly, expressing confidence that our project was routine.
We received a quote on September 18th, and although it was higher than other options, my trust in Cellino's service quality and supposed exemplary customer service made me comfortable proceeding. After Chris's visit, multiple other representatives from Cellino visited my project over the next month, taking further measurements and assessing the space. At no time during these visits was it mentioned that the heater proposed might be incompatible with the greenhouse's size.

Unfortunately, when the installation team arrived on October 22nd (mind you, over a month after initial site visit and this is Buffalo, NY where we have had 2ft of snow on October 13th), I was informed that the heater was, in fact, overpowered for our greenhouse. This was the first I'd heard of this issue, which I believe should have been caught during the quote preparation or one of the several assessments. This oversight has had a cascading effect on our business. Over the following weeks, we had to navigate back and forth between Cellino and the greenhouse manufacturer, ultimately deciding to exchange the heater for a more suitable model. The heater was ultimately installed, but not hooked up as Cellino had to still install a fan and an electrician run the wires. This delay has resulted in significant losses, with thousands of dollars of stock lost due to insufficient heating.

On Tuesday, November 5th, I called Cellino to check on the status of the fan installation, as my electrician was ready to proceed. I was told that a message would be passed to Aaron, but I received no callback. I followed up on Friday, November 8th and told the dispatcher that I was desperate for an update and to escalate my situation. I received a call back from Aaron later in the day and he informed me the fan was over powered and that they could not install it. Why was this not caught with the initial quote when the several representatives had ""a lot of homework"" to do? Why was it not caught later when they went to install things and then caught later? Why did they not tell me the couldn't finish the project due to a heater and wait for me to contact them? I am absolutely furious about this whole experience. Aaron said he would send me options by the end of the day Friday, but I received nothing.

I reached out to another representative at the company and let them know that I was inclined to leave a negative review detailing my experience, but wanted to give them one more chance. He appeared to be concerned and confident that they would take care of the situation immediately. Here we are at the end of the day on Tuesday November 12th with no one who has reached out to me in regards to my concerns. Living in Buffalo, we're fortunate that temperatures haven't dropped drastically, but we're running out of time as colder weather approaches, and each day without heat puts more stock at risk.
This experience has caused considerable disruption to my business. If you are looking for a company for a project, I would advise you to look elsewhere.

More great service from Cellino Plumbing today! Justin came to our house and sorted through a drain problem (problem with galvanized pipe), answering all my questions about how the problem occurred. He managed to clear a drain that the snake would not initially go through. Very polite, pleasant and knowledgeable.

We called another ""reputable"" company on sat when our stationary tubs were backing up. They were horrible, came unprepared and didnt fix our problem. Went entire weekend with no water use. On Monday we were tired of waiting on that company and we called Cellino Plumbing instead. Wow. What a difference. They sent Shawn to our home within two hours. He got the tree root our of our line which was blocking it. He was super nice, extremely knowledgeable, explained everything. Left ZERO mess. I finally can use my water again. I am so happy I could cry. This was the most reasonably priced, experienced plumber we have ever used. I definitely recommend Cellino Plumbing and Shawn to anyone who needs work. I cannot say enough good things about our experience other than we are thrilled!
