This would have been a 1 star review if not for Harold, Danny and the office staff who helped to rectify what had been a really negative situation. Big thanks to those folks.

In summary, it took 5 different technicians 5 visits to my home to rectify a leak. Some of the initial ""fixes"" were completely ineffective and later technicians noted that the work done by the previous tech was not up to par. There was also an issue when a tech was a no-show for a 10am appointment and it was only when I called at noon to request an ETA that they let me know they'd worked late the night before and got a late start that morning. A heads up before the missed appointment would have been much appreciated.

All that said, once Harold and Danny took a look at the issue and rectified a few days later, we solved the problem and the work has held up. I also very much appreciate the office staff who issued a partial refund for some of the previous ineffective work that had been done.

I will work with Catons in the future but will request that a senior technician be sent out.

My shower had a leak on a 3rd floor bathroom floor in a federal hill townhouse. The shower drain had a access panel on the second floor. Catons came out and failed to diagnose the issue. Did not bother to check the diverter and unnecessarily damaged my ceiling in the process. They gave me an estimate for$1,100 to replace the drain without doing the necessary steps to confirm it was actually the drain. I had a second opinion and the plumber quickly found the issue. I would have.

Was in process of getting estimates for plumbing work when problem started while Catons was giving estimate. Said they could take care of problem right away. I had to do it (main water valve). Earlier estimates came in after work done that were SUBSTANTIALLY less. Catons had to come back to fix leak in original repair. My caution to others is get estimates, in my case would have saved hundreds. Felt like I was taken advantage of during bad situation. Left numerous voice messages with Catons general manager, never heard back. Just be cautious.

While the plumber was on time and was wearing a mask I was charged almost $700 to snake my front lawn drain. While that was discouraging, if it had worked I would have been okay with it. As soon as the plumber left I flushed the toilet and it overflowed all over the bathroom floor. I had to call another plumber in to snake it and after he did it, it worked fine. When I called Catons to complain they said since the second plumber did the work on my drain in the first place (they did - years ago) they were not responsible. How can you not be responsible for snaking a drain incorrectly, charging huge amounts of money, have the toilet overflow as soon as the plumber leaves and not even offer a refund of sorts? I paid to have a drain snaked and that was never done correctly and I had to pay the price out of my pocket and by cleaning up a bathroom mess.

Good lord, besides the $266/hr labor fee (that's more than one of my attorneys charges!), the fact that he padded the labor charge by 4 hours (over $1000) to account for how much time he ""might"" have to wait around for the city inspector, plus refused to consider CSST tubing which would simplify this significantly, plus the fact he insisted on running 3 separate lines for all our gas appliances (despite the fact the old setup ran fine on 2 and probably would run fine on 1 larger split down closer to the appliances), and the massive upcharge on all the materials (confirmed after doing some basic research myself) the guy wrote up his contract, handed me the sheet (he took the yellow) and then had to get his lackey to bang on my door and come back in to get that paper from me - because he was supposed to give me the yellow one, not the white copy. All this to repower some gas appliances due to a leak - in a cold house with no hot water that we're due to move into in 1 week. I was livid.

Overpriced with very poor communication on site and via phone. Definitely NOT a professional or customer service oriented company. No estimate was given during the job, the tech tried the same patch job I did that doesn't work and wanted triple the cost to replace the pipe and take out part of our basement ceiling. We talked to a manager for a partial refund as the outdoor spigot still leaks and the manager NEVER put in for the refund. Now, a week later, I have to ask again for the partial refund. Catons Plumbing is NOT a company we will ever recommend.

If I could give them zero stars I would. This company charges too much for their services. Please do some research and find a company who will charge you a fair price.

We've had them out multiple times to fix sink clogs, leaks, hot water heaters, and they even put in a new waterline for us. Both the GM and the guys who do the work are extremely professional and make you feel like you're in good hands. It's a relief to know that I have a plumber I can count on to provide only the service I need at a reasonable price.

Could not recommend more highly.

I love working with Caton's, not the situations that arise that bring me to work with them, but I love working with them. I use them at work for any plumbing needs we may have, but I have also used them at my own home when we had a water line crack. They are always extremely quick to respond and get the job done quickly. They even had their own restoration team come out to help me clean up all the water at my house. Great company to work with.
